Chapter 67: Reaching 310 KPH.
*BOOOM*
The bike roared onto the empty Autobahn, the engine note turning deep and violent as the throttle opened fully, the speed climbing higher and higher with no traffic ahead to slow him down.
The cold night air rushed past like a wall, street lights stretching into long yellow lines on both sides. Max’s face, which had been serious all evening because of the Blanka stuff, finally loosened, a small smile forming inside the helmet.
Even at 220 KPH, everything looked slower to him, not because the world changed, but because his eyes caught every detail sharper, every car far ahead, every lane line, every reflection on the road.
*BROOM* *CLACK* *CLACK*
The dry clutch kept rattling under pressure as he shifted up cleanly, gear after gear snapping in place. 240… 260… 280. The wind started fighting back hard, the front getting light, the bike trembling slightly as air pushed against his chest and shoulders.
He felt the shake through the frame and tank. Without panic, he gently shook his head once, then lowered his body, chest closer to the tank, elbows tucked in, legs tight against the frame.
The moment he reduced drag, the bike steadied, slicing through the air cleaner. The wild shaking calmed down instantly, and the speed didn’t decrease at all. On the contrary, it climbed even higher.
*WOOOSH*
His bike touched 310 KPH, the engine screaming high and sharp, wind blasting against his body like a solid wall. The backpack on his back fought the air hard, pulling and shaking, acting like a parachute, and the speed needle refused to climb much further.
He didn’t care. This was more than enough. The road ahead was empty and black, lane lines flashing under him like white sparks. He stayed tucked low, chin almost touching the tank, elbows tight, slicing through the cold air.
In about fourteen minutes, he crossed the sixty kilometers clean. Then he rolled off the throttle smoothly and let the bike breathe, the unrestricted stretch ending behind him. From here the Autobahn had limits, around 120–180 KPH, so of course he cruised it across 200 KPH anyway, steady and controlled, fast but not reckless.
He reached the town of Deggendorf by 07:24 PM. The streets were still bustling, shops glowing warm, people walking around with evening bags and food boxes. He didn’t ride into the middle of town or make a scene.
He kept to the outer roads, then stopped near the first ATM booth he found that was still open and parked cleanly under the light before stepping inside.
Max withdrew 40,000€ from there. It took time for the machines to spit out that much cash, bundle after bundle sliding out slowly, the counting sound repeating again and again.
He packed everything neatly into his backpack without rushing, then checked online for the next open ATM since this one had reached its limit.
Damn! I need to get out of here fast with this much cash on me.
It took him eight more ATM booths and about fifteen more machines to withdraw 110,000€ more. He didn’t mind riding around the town between stops.
The cold night air felt good after the speed runs. People stared at the red Ducati when he parked, some whispering, some clicking photos from a distance, but Max didn’t pay attention to any of it. He just finished his business, zipped the bag tighter, and moved on.
“Sigh… it needs fuel, with so much cash on me, I miscalculated.”
After his last withdrawal, when he finally sat back on the bike and turned the ignition on, the dash lit up red. The fuel meter blinked aggressively, warning colors flashing across the display, showing he only had about two liters left. The number kept dropping every few seconds like it was mocking him.
His new bike consumed a lot of fuel. It hadn’t even crossed the break-in period properly, yet with his riding and constant high speeds he had pushed it way too far. Shaking his head at his own mistake, he rolled out of the town slowly. Before exiting completely, he found an empty street and pulled the bike to the side under a dim street light, the engine idling low. He casually took out his phone and sent a text to Jennifer that he was coming home.
It was nothing but an excuse. If anyone was watching through CCTV later, it would just look like a normal guy updating someone before leaving town. Nothing suspicious.
Then he locked the phone, pulled out the money bag, and pretended to check the cash like anyone would after withdrawing so much. Just like last time, his silver shining palladium card ’accidentally’ slipped from his fingers and fell to the ground with a soft metallic clink.
[Activate?]
[Yes/No]
Max instantly pressed yes. He picked the card up calmly and slid it back into his wallet like nothing happened. The system pop-up appeared in front of him, faint and transparent. Waiting a few seconds wouldn’t hurt. He leaned back against the seat and watched.
[ All the illicit assets in the 3 kilometers are being converted… Success!! ]
[ Current Legal Balance: 2,790,701€ ] [ Level up the card by using 2,533,207€ ]
Hmm? Only around eighty thousand?
*BRR*
Max wasn’t disappointed. This was a small town after all. Eighty thousand from nowhere was already more than enough. He twisted the throttle lightly and the bike moved along again, smooth and quiet, exiting the town and merging back onto the Autobahn while scanning for the next gas station sign to fill the tank and head home.
He soon found one, an Aral service center glowing blue and white under the night sky. The place was half empty, only one truck parked near the side. Max rolled the bike next to the pump and filled the tank calmly, the fuel ticking up fast.
Around 30€ was enough to almost fill it completely, the display stopping just about two liters short of full. He handed the worker a larger note and told him to keep the rest as a tip.
The bike found its home again on the Autobahn. Traffic was light, the road long and open. Speeding didn’t even feel like speeding here, and 200 KPH felt normal to him now, almost like a calm cruise. The engine hummed steady under him while the cold air rushed past, city lights fading into darkness behind.
When he reached the unrestricted area again, a small smile formed on his face. He rolled the throttle deeper and the bike answered instantly, the numbers climbing fast — 240… 270… 300… touching 305 KPH.
The backpack was fuller this time with cash and it created a parachute-like pressure on his back once again, heavier this time, tugging at him hard, making the front slightly light, but he stayed tucked low and stable, letting the machine cut through the air cleanly.
Everything went according to plan, except for the time. By the moment he reached his parking lot, it was already 09:15 PM. Searching for open ATM booths around town had eaten almost an extra hour. He tried to make up for it by riding faster on the way back, but even speed couldn’t buy back lost time.
No matter, I’ve to complete the lesson first, then eat and sleep.
