Max had to go back to his apartment to pick up the two pendant necklaces he had bought. He took the stairs instead. Climbing four floors felt like nothing to him, not even a heavy heartbeat, and of course, he was faster than the elevator.

Taking the pendants he had forgotten to wrap in time, he left the apartment once again. This time, he directly called a taxi. As he spoke, he noticed his voice felt slightly different—not by much—but it had become a bit deeper.

It didn’t take long for him to see Munich’s nightlife again. Last time, his mind had been busy with thoughts about housing, but this time he actually looked around. The roads were busy, friends walked together in large groups, and some young adults like him hesitated outside strip clubs, unsure whether to step in or not.

The taxi stopped just two minutes away from the restaurant. From there, he had to walk along a wide stone sidewalk filled with pedestrians. Max paid €12 and stepped out of the cab. The nightlife felt more alive than during the day—couples, business groups in suits, all moving around in an orderly, disciplined way.

Max pulled out his phone and saw the time was 06:04 PM. He smiled. He was four minutes late and would need another minute or so to reach the place. Putting his phone away, he started walking. The black banner of Les Deux could already be seen from a distance.

As he walked as usual, he noticed his senses had become sharper. It felt like he could sense people’s gazes on him. This feeling was new, but he knew people usually ignored him. All his life, he had been ignored until he stood up straight and his height made the difference.

Max tried to see who was watching him. Was it some kind of gang? Or maybe people from the café this morning? Those unemployed fat uncles? It didn’t really matter. He was barely afraid. But when he finally saw who was looking at him, it gave him a huge shock.

Ladies. Yes—young ladies to older ones. Some looked openly, some just passed their eyes over him. Some stood alone, some even winked at him while standing beside their partners. Max felt a little bewildered inside, but on the outside, he kept his expression steady and continued walking ahead.

Max thought about his own behavior and how everything might play out. Girls would surely react, then slowly adjust to his changes, but he wasn’t very social. People might start to misunderstand him. He wasn’t a good talker, and with his below-average looks before, that never mattered. Now things were different, and he had a new university to attend.

As he reached the Les Deux restaurant, he saw two sets of women standing close to each other. Machina stood tall in a pale blue furry coat that showed off her figure, talking with Jennifer, who wore an equally bold red jacket that pressed her curves forward. Across from them stood the two sisters.

Danica wore a purple feather coat, her blonde hair catching the light, while Blanka chatted beside her in a pink furry coat over a flower-patterned gown. All of them looked a little puffy under their fluffy coats, but it only added to their presence. From time to time, each pair glanced at the other, because only these four women could truly compete with one another when it came to beauty.

Max sniffed the air as he walked toward them. Each of them wore a different fragrance, and with the wind blowing his way, every scent reached his nose clearly. The cold wind, which he used to hate because he never had proper clothing, actually felt nice now.

“Maxiii!!”

The first one to notice him was Machina. She had been looking his way since he entered the street, but she didn’t let Jennifer understand it. The first one to react was Blanka. She lightly jumped the moment she saw Max, clearly overexcited. When she ran toward him, Jennifer and Machina immediately understood who Max’s friends were.

Max stood still and let the tsunami come to him. Blanka didn’t hold back at all. She jumped forward in her high heels and wrapped herself around him like there was no tomorrow. Max didn’t know how to react, but he gently patted her back. Believe it or not, even though she looked the youngest of the four, her full chest pressed softly against his firm body, warm and undeniable, leaving him keenly aware of the contact.

“I missed you so much, Maxi.”

“I was also looking forward to seeing you.”

Max grabbed her shoulder. She was wearing a beautiful drop-shoulder floral dress underneath, and it looked fantastic on her. Taking her hand, he led her toward the others. Blanka kept looking at him from head to toe. To her, he felt suddenly very attractive, and even his voice sounded super charming now.

Blanka thought she was seeing things because she was falling in love. Her cheeks flushed instantly. Danica stepped forward next and greeted him with a friendly hug without making it awkward. She went up on her toes as she did, not wearing heels, and even Max had to lean down a little to meet her.

“You look very handsome.”

“And you look very beautiful.”

Danica tried her best to make sure her hug didn’t cause Max to let go of Blanka’s hand. She really wanted to ship them together. From last night until now, all she had heard was how cool Max was on the train, how great his personality was, and how strong he was. She was tired of hearing it. She wanted them to start dating so she could finally focus on her work, or she might actually lose her job.

“Hey, sorry I was so busy. I didn’t give you a heads-up. I hope you don’t mind two more friends joining us?”

Seeing Jennifer and Machina walking over, Max gently squeezed Blanka’s hand while looking at Danica, since she was the older sister. Blanka shook her head immediately—Max’s friends were, of course, her friends too. Seeing her sister shaking her head so eagerly, Danica laughed out loud.

“Of course not.”

Machina’s hand reached for his right hand while he was still holding Blanka’s with his left. Then she slid closer and locked her arm with his, pressing her body against him in a natural, intimate way, as if she wanted to melt into his side. Max felt her warmth immediately. Her body radiated heat, soft and real, all of it flowing straight into him.

Blanka and Danica stared at Machina, who looked at them shamelessly, her behavior bold and improper. Blanka’s eyes instantly flared with fire as she looked at Machina with clear hostility. While this was happening, Jennifer moved in and hugged Max tightly. With both of his hands already blocked, she pressed herself hard against him, the sudden pressure almost making his nose bleed.

“Blanka, Danica—this is my stepsister, Machina, and this is Jennifer, a friend and a very helpful neighbor.”

“Machina, Jennifer—this is my school friend Blanka and her older sister, Danica. They’re from Regensburg, where I’m from, and they helped me yesterday with getting that apartment and many other things, selflessly.”

Max introduced them. Jennifer and Danica exchanged a formal handshake, while Blanka clutched his hand tightly, not even bothering to say hello. Machina, on the other hand, chuckled and gave Danica a much less formal greeting, barely offering her arm as she shook hands.

As they entered the restaurant, Max had two beauties clinging to him, while Jennifer and Danica followed just behind. Max wanted to treat Machina well—if she was comfortable being mischievous, he was ready to accept her as she was. Blanka had helped him too, and he couldn’t bring himself to shake her off either.

The main thing is, I like this soft feeling on my arm. Am I turning into a pervert?
