Chapter 8: I want to buy a phone.

“Blanka, Let me tell you, this is Munich, we live in a very small apartment. This is not Daddy’s big house.”

“I am sorry, I… I will send most of them back.”

The blue BMW i4 drove along the road. Max was seated in the back with a suitcase beside him, while both sisters sat ahead. The whole ride was Danica teaching Blanka stuff that should be common sense.

“Very good. After we reach my apartment, don’t open up everything you have, you will be moving in to the university dorms. You do remember that, right?”

“Y…Yes.”

Blanka looked away while saying this because she really forgot about this. Max had to hear all of this, he was not certain how this girl survived this far. If she were in his situation, she would’ve been eliminated long ago.

“What about you? Max? Are you also in TUM?” (Technical University of Munich)

Danica, seeing her sister was the same as always, wanted to hear if her new friend was also in the same university, she would be so relieved if a polite boy like him took care of her or at least kept an eye on her.

BMW entered into an open parking lot. Max could see there was a fancy restaurant just beside it, so he checked his card to see if it was still in his pocket. He was not planning on paying, but if push comes to shove, he likes to be prepared.

“We will eat something here, then move on.”

Parking the car, she pulled out her wallet from the glove box. Blanka was the first one to jump out of the car, she looked pissed, while Danica just shook her head. Max can’t take his backpack inside a restaurant, so he left it inside the car.

It won’t be a problem, right? This car looks safe enough.

“I am going to the washroom.”

Saying this, Blanka just left, while Danica and Max looked a bit awkward walking together in a restaurant. Max looked around to learn more about Munich and the culture and how it was different, his hometown was very small and mostly famous for medieval building preservation, while he could see very modern buildings here in Munich.

*GROWL*

The sudden warm smell of bread made his stomach growl, not very loudly but enough to let him know he was very hungry and had not eaten yet, while Danica searched for a good table for them.

“She’s not a bad girl, I am her stepsister, by the way.”

Max suddenly heard Danica talking with him, she had already secured them a table in the corner. As they were walking towards it, Danica started talking.

“I know, but she’s, like, too spoiled.”

“It’s her mother, she comes from a very rich family of Berlin. My mother died after giving birth to me, so when she was little, I moved out. Her mother has spoiled her rotten, but she’s a nice girl inside.”

Danica’s tone was very sympathetic, but with an empty stomach, Max didn’t feel that much sympathy towards Blanka, first of all, he was a fucking orphan, and not once was there room for complaint in his life.

When I finally sat down and complained like this yesterday, I was on the verge of death, so this is more like high school drama crap.

Danica was a little frustrated with Max, he was not a talker at all. She tried everything, but he just nodded his head and sometimes even looked uninterested. Who doesn’t like to hear stories from a hot older woman?

Max, on the other hand, looked a bit shocked, he never had a beer in his life. He was, of course, too poor to buy one, but he just realized he was an adult and could have alcohol.

“No, I can have coffee, I feel a bit sleepy.”

“Alright, two espressos and a large beer.”

Max’s energy was lost on those bags Blanka brought in, after two went inside the car trunk, there was still one left with him in the back. As a person who takes responsibility after he gives his word, Max had to hold it from falling, and both sisters wouldn’t stop talking, so he was bored out of his mind.

God Damn!! She’s pretty, I shouldn’t look at her too much.

As the table went silent, Max’s eyes landed on Blanka, who was coming from the washroom, her face was slightly wet, and she looked extremely beautiful with her shining blue eyes. Now Max could see she was not even wearing that much makeup at all.

Shaking his head from her distraction, Max focused on his hand, because this was the only thing he could see. His hands were bony and very large. He wondered if he were not this malnourished, could he really look somewhat less hideous?

“Hey, sorry it took me a while.”

“It’s alright, I ordered on your behalf.”

“So, Max, what do you want to do today?”

Blanka asked, her mood looked better, and she was once again ready to chat. Max, on the other hand, felt like his headache had restarted.

“First, I need a new phone. I have researched it online, and I need a phone called Red Magic 11 Pro. It’s a nice phone in budget.”

He didn’t just search for entertainment on his way to Munich, he also researched which phone would be better for him, and this one looked like a great deal for the money. While both sisters looked at each other, both of them were iPhone users, so they rarely heard of a phone named Magic.

“Is it a 100€ phone?”

Danica was not certain where she would go to find this phone, by the name of it, it’s more like one of those cheap ones.

“Oh no! The one I am talking about is above €1000.”

Max didn’t get offended at all, when he first heard this name, he was also very confused, but this brand has a very good reputation, like it’s worth the money, unlike other ones.
