Max parked the car in his designated spot in his apartment building. It wasn’t being used right now. Even though it was fully paid for, he hadn’t bought a vehicle to fill it yet. And he was certain Jennifer didn’t want to go back to her apartment tonight.

” I told you. I have many secrets. Some I’ll tell you, some I won’t. But I’ll try to make sense of everything I do, for you. You’re very special to me ”

Max smiled and lightly caressed her fingers, which were pressed into the soft bed. She leaned back and lifted her chest slightly, her coat open, her posture bold and careless. Her usual modesty was gone. It was more like she didn’t care at all if Max saw everything she had.

” I will one day uncover all your secrets, everything you’ve ”

” I hope you do. I really hope you expose me one day. On that day, I’ll be the happiest man in the world ”

Max smiled. Seeing that calm, mysterious smile, Jennifer couldn’t help but smile too. A mysterious man was her boyfriend. She loved mysteries, and now she had the biggest puzzle of all.

Max’s tone stayed calm and steady, but his eyes were firm. He stood up and gently stuffed the last spoonful of cereal into her mouth before she could say anything else. Then he walked straight to his bedroom, leaving the door unlocked for her to follow.
