Chapter 30: Starting Fresh.

Max picked Jennifer out first from the cab. Seeing Machina following him on her own, he paid the cab driver with a €20 bill and couldn’t take the change because Jennifer almost slipped from his hands.

Taking her into both his arms like a princess, he walked ahead while Machina followed him like a zombie. He took Jennifer to his apartment, even though he didn’t want to. Her soft body melted against his hands like a marshmallow, and wherever he touched, she felt soft and squeezy.

He took her to the smaller bedroom he had decided to give Machina and gently placed her down on the soft bed. As he was about to straighten up, Jennifer’s eyes slowly opened. With a faint smile, she pulled him toward her. To keep from falling on her, he placed his hand against her chest, and the feeling caught him off guard—full, warm, firm, yet incredibly soft beneath his palm.

His eyes went wide. He tried to pull his hand back in a hurry, but her hand caught his and held it there as she gently shook her head. Max didn’t know what to do in that moment, his heartbeat picking up fast. His instincts took over, and his hand began to move softly, gently fondling her round breast.

“You can call me Max, I’ll get ready to jog. Want to tag along? ”

“I can’t, I forgot to bring the clothes from Jenny’s apartment. After shopping, she took me to her apartment, and I left all my clothes there. I will make breakfast using the oven for you in the meantime ”

“Alright, but wear some of my clothes to work for now; they’ll fit you.”

Max smiled, then locked his door, changed into more sporty clothes, and wore his sports shoes. Machina was working while wearing the shoulderless gown; it was pleasing to the eye but looked extremely uncomfortable while working.

“Alright, take care of the home and wake Jennifer up. She will also need to go to university today ”

Max saw Machina seated on the couch, waiting for him to leave. He patted her on the shoulder and took the stairs down. The morning wind felt refreshing. His new life was starting today. He was looking forward to how his university life would be and whether he could make friends this time around.

There were very few people on his street, but when he came back an hour later, he saw couples running and old people coming down from nearby buildings. He didn’t even break a sweat properly, so he ran fast for another half hour.

Coming back to his apartment, he saw Jennifer already up and eating some kind of sandwich. Seeing him, her face flushed red. She looked away for a second. Machina was doing something by the oven.

“Good Morning ”

“M… Morning.”

Jennifer couldn’t even look his way properly. Machina turned around with a smile as soon as she heard Max’s voice. She looked far tamer than yesterday. She looked completely normal, which made Max a little suspicious, but it was a good change nonetheless.

“Should I give you the breakfast now? ”

“No, I will take a shower, then you can give me breakfast ”

Max went straight to the shower. He was sweating heavily even in this cold weather because he ran as fast as he could in the last half hour. He wore a nice branded blue T-shirt, a black leather jacket, black jeans, and his most expensive black boots.

I look… nice? so even I can look nice.

Shaking his head at his own reflection, he took his new backpack, sat down at the dining table, and looked around for Jennifer. Machina presented bread with melted cheese inside and avocado on the side.

“She left a few minutes ago while you were showering. She told you to wait at the building’s front gate; she will take you with her.”

“Oh, okay.”

Max nodded his head, then took the bread in his hand. It looked delicious. He was about to take a bite when a list of system pop-ups unfolded in front of his eyes.
