Elias could feel the energy surge of his forging subsiding, and he estimated that he barely had half a minute or more for him to enjoy the sensation of having a near-indestructible body.

The blow he had thrown against the Flesh Mauler had placed him at a disadvantage, but Elias had deliberately done this in order to test the powers of his new abilities from the Lumina Vein Arts.

Staggering backward with one cracked claw, the Flesh Mauler growled, and then it suddenly shrieked as the flames surrounding the joints in its arm suddenly crawled backwards into its arm, and they burned its bone black.

This flame came from its own power, and so there was no defense against it, and in an instant, the Flesh Mauler lost almost all of its strength in that arm.

Elias’s eyes lit up… this was 1% damage returned!

He had checked the healing powers provided by burning his Attributes when he clashed with the Flesh Mauler, but this was also to confirm how much damage could be returned to his attackers.

Destroying his arm was painful, but Elias could afford trading injuries when he was in this state of super regeneration, and despite reflecting only one percent of the damage done to him, he had just lost an arm, and even reflecting one percent of the damage he suffered was enough to disable the arm of the Flesh Mauler.

Elias smiled, his cheeks cracking wider, revealing teeth that glowed like heated gold.

The air around Elias shivered as he felt the connection he had with the blood whip, and he gave an instruction with his mind, and they snapped forward like serpents, wrapping the Mauler’s injured arm and digging deep into the flesh.

Knowing how thick the skin of the Flesh Mauler was even before this transformation, Elias was surprised at how deeply the whip was able to dig into its arm.

The creature roared in pain, trying to pull free; it had barely understood how its own flames could turn around and nearly cripple its arm, but the whips tightened like a living thing, draining vitality in thick red pulses that flowed into Elias’s body and were changed in a manner he did not understand.

All he knew was that in less than a second, his whip must have drained more than twenty pints of blood, and in the corner of Elias’s vision, he saw this Status Screen giving him a bloody notification.

He now understood what Sanguine Resonance could give him, and he wondered if this Vitality he was harvesting would be affected by the Ascendant Swarm trait that multiplied his overall Vitality, and he saw no reason why this should not be the case.

The Flesh Mauler howled in shock and pain as the hand that was encircled by the blood-whip began to shrink until it was barely being held together by withered cartilage and tendons.

’This power is extremely cruel,’ Elias thought as he yanked on the blood whip, hearing bone crack and with a wet-sounding tear, the arm of the Flesh Mauler tore free at the shoulder, and there was hardly any blood, and the bones had become brittle, not taking much effort to crush.

The Mauler staggered; the massive heart visible on its chest was beating fast, and Elias could see new growth emerging from the shoulder of the creature.

Elias did not give it time to recover and leaped towards the beast, his hand reaching for the flower that had never left his waist from the moment he left the fragment of divinity.

Agility 160+ carried him in a blur, his body crossing the distance, and he landed on the creature’s chest, his bare feet fighting for purchase on its skin, before his toenails extended and pierced into the body of the creature as the swarm covered his feet.

If Elias could see the metallic claws that had just erupted from his feet, he would have noticed that they were now purple but had crimson edges, as if the metal was bleeding.

Now that he was holding the flower in his hand without the cover made by his swarm, his hand began to darken, despite his insane regeneration.

The black eyes of the creature that had been a bit startled when Elias had leaped on its body turned to the flower, and Elias could see the eyes of the Flesh Mauler beginning to widen, and he could feel a violent burst of explosive power rising in the body of the creature, that he knew will not kill him, but would throw him hundreds of feet away.

“We can’t have that,” Elias muttered as he drove the stem of the flower into the open beating heart.

Elias called this a flower, and its stem seemed a bit soft, but it pierced through the heart as if it were made of foam. The Mauler screamed, a sound that shattered his eardrums multiple times, and Elias twisted the flower, and the heart seemed to burst, but it was all absorbed by the flower.

“Interesting,” Elias said as yellow flames exploded outward in a hemisphere of flame, and Elias was caught in the center.

He felt his skin begin to char, but he was healing so quickly that the flames seemed to hover over his skin, due to the fact that it could not burn deep into his body.

Elias did not know why this sight was funny, and he began to laugh.

Covered in yellow flames that would have melted rocks and metal, a young man with violent red hair laughed inside the flames.

The lessening flames and the fading scream of the Flesh Mauler reminded Elias that he was on a clock, and his rapid regeneration would not last forever.

Ripping the flower out of the chest cavity of the Flesh Mauler, Elias dropped to the ground, and the Flesh Mauler followed him, collapsing on one knee.

Its chest cavity was gaping as fragments of flesh and bones surrounding its chest were raining like burning coals. This wound had drained the creature to the bone, but it was still alive, and a frighteningly tenacious spirit still burned inside its bones.

Elias watched the creature raise its remaining claw; the motion was slow, and the arm was trembling. Quickly placing the flower at the side of his waist and having the swarm cover it up, Elias lifted his left hand and connected himself to the void scripture as he whispered,

“Paradox Vessel.”
