Chapter 211: You See A Picture In Blood
Elias closed his eyes as he evaluated everything he had heard. He remained in this position for more than fifty seconds before he opened his eyes, “Get me a pen and paper,” he told Mira and she hurried over to get them, and while she was away, Elias closed his eyes again to think about the decisions he was about to make, and he decided that this would be the path he was going to follow.
Mira returned, and Elias quickly wrote down a set of instructions she was to follow, and refused her offer of food before he walked to the last room on the ninth floor.
The room at the end of the longest corridor was empty, and there were no windows or ornaments.
Elias looked at the stone walls, ceiling, and floor, nodded to himself, then closed the door behind him and stood in the center of the empty space.
Breathing out, he closed his eyes, and he reached inside himself towards his Lumina Space, and his consciousness flipped as he became the Ageless Echo.
Once again, it felt as if he had just switched bodies, one moment he was a man with blood flowing in his veins, and the next, he was a spiritual entity that resembled a burning flame that was now a bit darker purple after his experience with the Void Echo.
The first thing his sight found was the Elder Talent, as the red light bleeding through the cracks of the moon in his Lumina Space was causing a storm inside his Lumina Space, as fierce winds were blowing that lifted the white sands into the air.
He could almost taste the hunger for evolution in the air, an almost pressing need to remake him. He had held it back because there had been no time, because he had been fighting and surviving, plus he wanted to understand how far he could push his talent before he excavated it, but he could no longer wait… the world was rapidly changing around him, and what he needed above all was strength.
With this thought in mind, he did not trigger the change he could feel coming from the cracked moon overhead; instead, he turned his attention to the Crimson Vein Dominion.
The first time he forged his flesh, he had been simultaneously running all three of his legacies at the same time, and that experience had almost killed him, if not for the fact that his Talent had converted the attribute growth it was to give him into healing energy.
That saved Elias’s life, but it may have wiped out half or more of the attributes he would have otherwise gained; still, Elias thought it was a fair price for his life.
However, Elias had been thinking of that moment, and he wondered if his triple legacies could not be used as a method of utilizing the power of his Elder Talent, and to gain back part of the growth he would have gotten from his talent if it had not been used for healing him.
His Elder Talent responded to the stress he placed on his body and mind, so the more stress he endured, the greater the growth he would gain.
The growth of his veins in his body was going to be quite violent, even if he was taking it slowly, but if the Crimson Vein Art was growing by 35% at a single stroke, then it would place an unhealthy amount of stress on his body, and that stress was what Elias was hoping for.
The abilities of this Art had upgraded; the Status Screen had told him so, but the activation had been pending. His Elder Talent had held it back, holding his body in stasis, waiting for him to choose the moment.
This was to be the moment, and without a second thought, Elias opened himself to the change.
It began in his chest as the nine purple marks began to pulse. Each pulse was slower than a heartbeat, deeper, as if something far below his skin was waking from a very long sleep.
The glow from them began to grow, but the light was red and not purple as if they were being filled with blood.
His perception suddenly grew more acute as his senses for blood suddenly skyrocketed, as he could feel every single drop of blood inside him, and as suddenly as these senses grew, they were cut off, and he no longer sensed his blood but the veins that carried it.
He could feel the veins in his arms, legs, chest, throat, and every vessel that carried his blood began to glow through his skin. Looking down at his body, his veins were shining so brightly they could be seen through his robes, and it almost looked as if there were countless roots connected to every part of his body.
His veins began to throb as a slow pressure began to grow inside them, which Elias recognized as his blood that was being accelerated all over his body at a frightening rate. If any of his veins were cut at this moment, Elias expected that all of his blood would instantly shoot out of the tear.
Perhaps this would not kill him, but it would certainly destabilize him for a while.
The blood flowing through his body was red at first, and then it darkened, deepening to the color of old wounds, as the insane pressure they were undergoing seemed to be killing them.
Elias frowned as the pressure built until he could feel his pulse in his teeth, eyes, and in the marrow of his bones, and then the veins began to tear.
This tear was not the normal tearing of flesh that he had experienced before; this was deeper as the Crimson Vein was transforming his body on the deepest level.
The pathways that the Art had been building since it first fused its core to his Lumina Pools were now being broken down and expanded. The veins in his arms split open along the lines of the Art, following the invisible architecture that the Crimson Vein had been constructing inside his body for the entire time he had been a Fury Forge.
His veins split and branched into new paths, becoming more complex and stronger as a result, and it did not need to be mentioned that this process was one of the most painful things he had felt until this moment, but Elias did not make a sound; he was more focused on observing the changes inside his body.
This pressure was more focused on his arms and radiated to the rest of his body, and as the skin of his arms could no longer contain the growth inside his body, it tore open in a dozen places, and blood poured from his arms.
He had thought that the blood would shoot out of his body without control and splash all over the room, but it did not; it began to rise into the air.
The blood that left his body did not obey gravity. It spiraled upward in thin, bright arcs, each thread of it catching the light from the nine marks on his chest, glowing with the same deep red that was now pulsing through his veins.
Even under intense pain, Elias gasped in awe as his blood wove itself into patterns that he could not understand, shapes that were not quite runes and not quite words, taking geometries that hurt to look at.
He did not have time to fully admire this display before the blood rushed towards him.
