Chapter 49: The Great Leap Forward

Elias had also observed that, like the purple marks scattered across his chest, the purple orbs now had a core of gold, and if he was right, this was an indicator that he had achieved equilibrium in his nature and had sovereign balance.

All of these changes seemed so drastic that it was almost suspicious. The Commander had a lot of questions to answer. Her power, which gave him the ability to suppress the goddess, must have brought about certain changes within him that were not natural, and he wondered how much he could reveal to this woman whom he had known since he could remember, yet understood so little of.

He did not know how powerful she was or her intentions towards him, and after experiencing a small taste of what power was like at the top of the food chain, Elias had every right to be fearful over what was waiting for him out there.

However, Elias was not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, and if there was a price in the future for these gifts he was given now, he would gladly pay it, because Elias knew that having an unstable path that tetthered between Miracle and Condemnation was the quickest way to madness, and perhaps it was the reason he was hearing the voice of the Passenger, who for some reason had been awfully quiet.

Glancing downward towards his rank, Elias was unsurprised that it remained at Rank 0. Meaning he was still a Level 0 Wisp. His Status Screen stated he had twenty points still unallocated, and Elias knew that only allocating these points to any Attributes of his choosing would push him to become a Level 1 Wisp.

Elias held back from doing this first because it was important for him to know his overall status before upgrading any of his Attributes; he had no idea how difficult it would be for him to level up, and every single point here may be essential to his survival in the future.

All of these were the first section of his Status Screen, which Elias believed was structured in different parts to make comprehension easier, and Elias appreciated the designer of this system, even if their answers could be a bit obtuse.

He was eager to get to the next section of his Status Screen because he knew it contained parts he could easily understand, and he would not need to speculate much about them. Yet when he saw his current vitality, he almost thought he was dreaming.

His Vitality had surpassed two thousand points, and he quickly glanced down to check his durability, and he shuddered when he noted it was at 119.

When he had reawakened, his Durability had been at 22, an absurd number for a Level 0 Wisp, but it had shot up to 119. This sort of growth was clearly abnormal, as durability like this should belong to a Mist Phantom, but maybe the attributes of Angels were different from normal Siphons.

However, he had just gained 97 points in his Durability!

To put this into perspective, even with all of his Seeded Lumina Pools, if he wanted to put 97 points in his Durability, he would have to level up five times, becoming a Level 6 Wisp who had placed nearly all of their points into Durability. For a normal Siphon, they would never be able to near this number unless they were at the Mist Phantom level.

Still, if his calculations were correct, 119 points in Durability should have just given him 795 points in his Vitality, since Vitality was tied to his Durability, and he was getting roughly sixish Vitality from every point of Durability and Elias wondered if this was the normal rate for everyone else, but it was not hard to see why his Vitality was so inflated after he saw that his Swarm had unlocked new abilities.

Apparently, they were still draining his regeneration, but they also tripled his health, and so he could no longer feel it.

What were the ramifications of his health being tripled for someone like him, who could regenerate from damage?

Elias was stunned in place in shock, but he still pushed ahead, knowing there was more to discover ahead.

If he was in heaven at his increased Vitality, that feeling plummeted when he saw his Stamina. At first, the numbers appeared inflated; it had been 112, and now it was 613, quite a healthy growth and nothing to scoff at, and as expected, when he glanced at his Agility, it had grown from 19 to 104, meaning he had gained another 85 points in this Attribute.

Elias began running mental calculations in his head to understand how much his growth could be translated if he were leveling up in the normal manner.

First, he had to be a Level 6 Wisp if he wanted to bring his Durability to 119, and then he would need to be at least the first level of Fury Forge to have his second Attribute at this level.

Elias knew that Fury Forge had five points to spend per Lumina Pools, and so, for him, becoming a Fury Forge would mean getting 100 points to spend per level up.

With just his two Attributes, Elias could call himself a Level 1 Fury Forge with all one hundred pools of Lumina opened. Yet, it was not over, and he was still scratching the surface of all the changes he had undergone in this place.

All of this was thrilling, but what brought a frown to his face was the damned Passenger Tax that had increased from 15% to 50%. That wretched voice was not gone; it had only gotten stronger. If he was not suffering from a fifty percent reduction in his Stamina, then this mumber should have been doubled.

He was not too shaken, however. Stamina was important, but with 613 Stamina in the bank, in addition to his passive Stamina Regeneration from his body that was always being constantly refreshed, this was not a weakness.

Placing that behind him, he checked the final portion of this section of his Status Screen and observed with a faint pride that his Lumina Pools were open, and they were Oceans.

This ocean was empty, and Elias knew that he had his work cut out for him to fill them up, but his increased attributes and this Fragment of Divinity gave him the hope that he could be able to achieve the impossible.

What was fascinating was that his Pools of Lumina had been separated into two, fifty Miracle Pools and fifty Condemnation Pools, and the fusion of both became the fuel for his Extreme Adaptation Talent.

Did it mean that his Elder Talent was so different that only a fused pool of Lumina could fuel it? That was both fascinating and a little bit terrifying at the same time.

Knowing that it was pointless to dwell on this without a better understanding of his talents, Elias moved on to the next section of his Status screen: his overall attributes.

He had already seen the growth he had gained in his Durability and Agility, and the tangible result from that growth was represented in his Vitality and Stamina, but his other attributes were equally important, although it would not be easy to judge by how much at a glance.
