Chapter 78: You Are Clothed In Purple
Elias felt laughter bubbling in his chest. Inside the Fragment of Divinity, reality and commonsense seemed to be an afterthought and he had not dwelled on the strange things he had witnessed or what he was now capable of, but outside of the Fragement, the true magical nature of conjuring clothes from living swarms that dwelt inside his body was greatly highlighted, and he could not help but wonder how crazy his life would become in the future.
He looked down at his creation and knew he had understated its elegance. It may not be as ostentatious as the palatial robes he had previously been thinking about, but it had a quiet elegance in the way that good tools are elegant.
After seeing himself in this robe, he felt that this style suited him better, and he flexed his fingers beneath the cuff. The fabric tightened slightly, then relaxed. It was perfect.
Walking over to the slightly cracked bronze mirror that he used to check the refraction of light when he performed minor Alchemistry experiments, he looked at his appearance for the first time.
Blood of the gods, he was tall! Elias was not narcissistic and couldn’t care less about his image, but it was still shocking to observe all of these for the first time.
He was lean, and there were still traces of dampness in his hair even after seven hours, and Elias frowned when he noted that his hair was hanging past his waist.
This would have to go, as there was no reason to leave such great vulnerability on his person. Fighting mindless beasts with hair like this was barely acceptable, but Elias could imagine being easily dragged by his hair and decapitated by a skilled foe.
He sighed and looked at the robe that had made him suddenly appear more sure of himself. The nine purple marks glowed faintly against the open collar, framed by the thin gold band.
If Elias looked like a handsome and rich young man, all of that changed when these glowing marks on his chest were placed into that image, and suddenly his appearance became mysterious and otherworldly, like a being straight out of fantasy.
The rose at his hip, still wrapped in purple, looked like it belonged there, like a living ornament.
Finally, he met his own eyes in the reflection, and they were green, bright, and steady.
“This’ll do.”

Elias opened his door, expecting to find Kaelen outside it, but it was empty, and only the faint smell of wine was in the air. He was a bit surprised when he smelled this because while he knew that alcohol was not forbidden in the Order, Kaelen did not like to drink.
He had only seen him drunk once, and the man had been weeping as he lamented about a long-lost love. Knowing Kaelen, he could either be referring to a woman or a sword. Elias had come to acknowledge that every one of his teachers had a weird past, and in some ways, they were all damaged.
Elias could tell… he had a nose for these things.
Following the smell of wine, Elias began walking towards the Asylum proper, but the path veered around the massive building, heading up to the cliff that hugged the side of the Asylum.
The day was not bright with the sun hanging in the center of the sky as it was just a little past midday, and still following the scent of the wine up this cliff, Elias finally realized that he was not wearing any shoes. However, this did not seem to matter as the stones on the ground could not pierce his feet, and with his agility, it was almost as if he was gliding above the ground.
Elias observed the path with relish; he had never climbed the cliff before, and with his upgraded perception, he noted small hidden blocks that were buried on both sides of the path that were filled with the power of Lumina, he did not know what they were, but he was still excited because he knew that few hours ago, even if he was standing on top of this blocks, he would not know if they were special in any way.
If he was not being summoned, then Elias would have loved to stop and observe all these unknown blocks on the sides of the path, but he knew he already slept for an incredible seven hours, and he barely had three hours left before he was resummoned by his Commander, who would tell him what he needed to do about the incoming Incursion.
He was already at the peak of a Wisp at level 9, and Elias did not know what he needed to do next to become a Fury Forge apart from killing more powerful beings, but there was a hidden requirement to fulfil, and he was eager to continue his journey.
Quicker than he expected, he reached the top of the cliff, and he could not even observe his surroundings when he saw what was waiting for him, all fourteen of his teachers, which were all members of the Order were sitting around a massive table, filled with all sorts of delicacies, and they were chatting among themselves, with faint laugh coming from some of them.
At first, his appearance went unnoticed. Elias’s agility had contributed to his grace, and as he walked barefoot, he made no sound, and so he could observe everyone for a brief moment.
Their names passed through his mind: Kaelen, Orwin, Pyrra, Bram, Anya, Lyssa, Silas, Theron, Gideon, Cora, Fenwick, Rhys, Alaric, Sister Ianthe, and Brother Valerius.
Each of them taught him different subjects, and he knew they all had unique roles in the Asylum, but they did not tell him about it, because according to them, he needed to first touch the Lumina, but Elias had already assigned a role for all of them in his head, and he wondered how closely his speculations would tie with reality.
It was Rhys who saw him first. This white-haired man, who never seemed to be comfortable in the sunlight, was smiling and talking to Anya, a delicate woman who was always patrolling the outer walls and he suspected the corridors of the Asylum as well.
She had taught him about several duties of a guard, and she was a monstrous hand-to-hand fighter, and Elias knew how much she held back when teaching him.
Rhys, who had been laughing at something she was saying glazed to the path and saw Elias, and he choked, his eyes going wide in astonishment as he began to cough. This action drew eyes to him, before everyone on the table turned to Elia,s and silence fell across the table.
Elias had appeared without any sound, and as the sun shone brightly overhead, it was almost as if the day was made for him. His hair, which was as red as blood, caught the sunlight and seemed to transform into red flames. His height, bearing, clothes, and the nine purple marks shining on his chest made him seem like he was a god of flames that had descended from the sun.
Breaking the silence because it was almost becoming awkward, Elias bowed deeply at the waist, “Teachers, I have returned.”
