Chapter 146: You See Promise In The City
The opening in the stomach had teeth, and in less than a second, the body of the woman was stuffed and compacted, as the teeth chewed it into bits and it was swallowed, a faint groan of hunger and pleasure arising from it.
Patting the growling stomach of the rapist, the boy muttered, “Soon, you will be repaying me in threes.”
Looking up, the boy sighted the twisted form of Luka, the first transformed creature who had plastered itself to the wall of a building, and if you did not observe that position carefully, you would easily miss it.
Waving to the creature, the boy smiled, “I am okay now, no need to watch over me, now, go ahead and find a place to die.”
Growling in acknowledgment, the creature bounded into the darkness, at first it wanted to head for the Asylum, but then it saw certain familiar figures in the memories of the previous owner of this body, and it bounded towards them with a shriek.

Senior Scribe Nathan settled deeper into the plushy chair of the carriage, and he glanced at the heavy tome beside him to ensure that it was still with him.
This was a copy of the Fallen Citadel Records, which outlined all the known Citadels of the God-Death wars, even the relatively unknown citadel like the Stoneward Asylum.
Nathan had hurried over to the Central Archive, enduring the strain of multiple teleportations in such a short period of time, and if not for the superior teleportation portals of Stormfall, he would have been more sicker than the mild headache and nausea he was experiencing.
In another sidenote, the Senior Scribe was amazed at the incredible infrastructure that this city had in its teleportation facilities.
Everything needed for a city of this size to function was teleported into it. From food, drugs, to even furniture and weapons.
The entirety of Stormfall was surrounded by a massive fence, and it barely had a couple of miles of arable lands for farming inside of it, and most of these lands had been turned to gardens for the royals.
This entire city depended on exports for its growth and survival, but what were they importing to maintain such commerce? Nathan knew that this detail was important, and knowing the character of Lord Captain Veyris, he would want to know everything about this city.
Most of its teleportation portals in Stormfall were ancient, but that did not mean they were useless, instead they were among the best in the continents because they were built during the time of the gods, and those divinities wanted nothing but perfection, even if the mortal builders would need a thousand years just to ensure that the bricks in the walkway was lined to mathematical perfection.
The structures that remained after the God-Death wars were both artistically beautiful and supremely perfect, and with proper maintenance, they could be used forever.
This city was a goldmine of such ancient relics and buildings, and just from a glance, Nathan could see that many of the buildings in the so-called Old Districts were not occupied, and some of their structures hinted at mysteries and the uncountable wealth of the past that he needed to go back to properly research before he could make a proper assessment.
All he knew was that Stormfall had somehow slipped between the cracks of the palace, and if not by lucky chance, that one of the Scribes had been able to catch the emanations of an opening of a Fragment Gate, and the sheer luck that the Lord Captain was around, this place would not have been discovered.
Various possibilities passed through his head, and as a Mist Phantom with many of his attributes focused on his Will and Perception, he could think fast and deep, and everything he could see was a land of unknown opportunities that could change their lives forever.
Trion was a vast world, and some suspected that it was growing bigger every day, but so much of its vastness was filled with dangers and places that no one could survive, and finding places that showed true promise was rare.
Allowing himself to relax after the last of the teleportation sickness left him, Nathan sighed in confort, it was not every time he was able to enjoy such comforts from the royalty and he was determined to savor every moment before returning back to the halls of record, where he would spend decades buried in old books that no one would read or reference for centuries.
Yet Nathan did not see this as a bad thing or a waste of his life; countless scribes before him had maintained those records, and their work needed to be maintained across the ages.
Everything he did now may not have any significance at the moment, but in a thousand years or ten thousand years, it may be important.
Plus, there were perks of the jobs that could not be overlooked, as they were one of the most protected classes in the entirety of the kingdom, and he was able to borrow the Warg Carriage of Stormfall to carry him through the city.
Accompanying him were several Royal Guards he had picked up from the Central Archive on behalf of Lord Captain Veyris. Right now, the Captain was not feeling very well protected, and he wanted more men that he could control.
Nathan had worked with the Captain long enough to know when the man was beginning to make his move, and the Lord of this city did not know what was coming for him.
Thud! Boom!
The sound of a heavy crash happened outside, and Nathan stiffened. The carriage had paused for a bit before continuing on.
Soon, a knock came from one of the compartments by the side, and one of the Guardsmen entered the compartment where Nathan was resting.
“We were intercepted by a creature, but it had been taken care of.” The Guardsmen gave a short report.
“Creature? What kind?” Nathan frowned.
“No idea, we could not keep the body since it turned to ash as soon as it was killed, but you don’t have to worry for your safety, there are a hundred of us following you to the Lord Captain, and the creature was a Fury Forge, a thousand of them would not even shake the carriage.”
Nathan nodded and dismissed the guards. He was not worried about his safety, but he was interested in what would attack the Royal Carriage inside Stormfall. This was a detail that he was sure the Captain would love to hear.
The Senior Scribe settled deeper into the plushy chair and reached for the bottle of chilled wine by the side while chuckling at the ostentatious lifestyle of the royalty.
Far behind them, the last of the ash from a creature that barely lasted a second before it was crushed by the moving Cavalry escorting the carriage faded away.
Inside the alleyway where the rapist was still mutating, a faint moan emerged, and a grunt of pain followed by the sound of tearing.
The stomach of the rapist was now so swollen it occupied half the alleyway, and tentacles from beneath it were beginning to dig into the ground, as if the creature wanted to bore its way into the earth.
With the tearing sound increasing, the creature’s moaning intensified until suddenly the center of the stomach split open and three fleshy balls were spat out, the size of washbasins.
