Chapter 110: Curse
Ye Jun spent the entire day and night staying in the Scripture Hall, studying one book after another. He was like a sponge, absorbing knowledge at an incredible rate.
He didn’t stop at just geography and history of the world, but also read books on human anatomy. It was because of the Grand Genesis Foundation Sutra.
Since it involved perfecting every part of his body and also the meridians, he hoped to learn more about them so he didn’t make mistakes. He knew it well that if he messed up in the Qi circulation, then death would be the best outcome.
In total, Ye Jun spent three days inside the Scripture Hall, trying to fill his head with knowledge that was common sense for many.
Like Meihui or Song Liangxue.
Three contribution points in total. It made him wonder how much the missions paid. Fortunately, he didn’t have any need to worry about that for now.
Ye Jun didn’t go to the upper floors yet. He had too much on his hands and there was also the fact that he could gain Mysterious Techniques in other ways, so why should he pay for them?
He liked the training rooms, so he would spend on them.
Other than the knowledge from books, his biggest gains were definitely the Reading and Comprehension attributes he collected attentively.
Though he did note that Comprehension attribute bubbles were very few, which made sense considering disciples didn’t really need to focus hard to comprehend basic knowledge.
After three days, he exited the hall and found the old man still sitting outside in deep meditation, as if he hadn’t moved an inch.
’That was boring,’ Ye Jun thought, stretching a bit to loosen the tension in his joints. ’How do those cultivators spend so long sitting anyway?’
Ye Jun wasn’t a scholar. While he was curious about the world, he wanted to learn while experiencing it. Reading about it was quite boring.
’Man, I’m hungry!’
The first thing he decided to do was go to the dining hall. Although as a Qi Condensation Realm cultivator, his body could sustain on Qi alone, it wasn’t for long.
In just three days, he began to feel hunger. He could go on for a few more days, but it felt pointless to do it.
’Gotta bathe too.’ Ye Jun shook his head. ’Unhygienic motherduckers spend years in seclusion. Smelly fucks.’
Of course, he knew they wouldn’t smell or anything. Hygiene worked differently for them, after all. But who was stopping him from slandering cultivators?
Shaking his head in amusement, he went towards the island’s edge. Just as he was about to descend the stairs, his instincts flared up and without thinking twice, he used Ashen Phantom Steps.
In the next second, he appeared a short distance away and heard an ear-piercing scream coming from down the island, muffled by the winds.
’Huh!’ Ye Jun got confused for a second before he turned sideways and found two senior disciples punching empty air in annoyance. As if sensing his gaze, they walked away.
Ye Jun didn’t follow them. Instead, he went over the edge like others and looked down. A small crowd of people was beginning to form there, but he didn’t find anything strange at first.
So, he followed their gaze and found a young man lying near a boulder, painful groans escaping his mouth as blood leaked from multiple places on his body.
’Ah!’ Ye Jun quickly understood the situation and grinned. He quickly controlled it and said, loud enough for everyone to hear, “I heard there is a curse. Anyone who doesn’t follow the traditions catches it, so does that mean that man didn’t disrespect the traditions?”
There were many senior disciples among the crowd and they knew about Ye Jun very well. Most senior disciples who engaged in these traditions knew of him by now.
Hearing his words, their faces darkened.
“Serves him right!” Ye Jun said, crossing his arms. “I’m sure he will find himself in situations like these often. The curse is too brutal and wouldn’t leave him alone.”
“Junior Brother, you should calm down,” a senior disciple said. “This might just be an accident. The winds are quite strong and deadly, so he might have slipped.”
Ye Jun scoffed. The man clearly tried to push him off the island. If it wasn’t for his instincts, he would be in that man’s place and the seniors would blame it on a curse.
’Don’t you have other things to do?’ Ye Jun wanted to shout at them, but kept his emotions in control. ’Get a job!’
He didn’t bother with them any longer. They might be unemployed and free, but he had plenty of things to do. Like filling his empty stomach.
After checking his surroundings once more, Ye Jun descended the stairs and, ignoring the crowd, he left the scene. Though, it made him raise his guard.
It was clear the seniors wouldn’t stop at just this.
’Come at me!’ he smiled. ’Fight me, so I can take your cultivation and everything away.’
He really wished his system also had a function using which he could steal others’ cultivation rather than just copying it.
’It isn’t copying either. More like picking up the leftovers… nah, that sounds shitty. Copying it is.’
Ye Jun first visited his abode where he had a nice, long bath session in hot water. The sect was surprisingly very generous when it came to fulfilling the disciples’ mundane needs.
After that, he wore a new set of uniform and left the abode.
It happened when he was walking past some boulders. He heard some whimpering from behind one of the boulders and stopped for a second.
Turning towards it, he thought, ’So the classic bullying too. Can’t expect anything more from a dog-eat-dog world. Well, nothing to do with me.’
He wasn’t a saint. In fact, he had learned not to get into such situations long ago on the streets. The majority of the time, it would backfire on you and in case it didn’t, you wouldn’t gain anything from it.
Only some kind and saint-like people would step in to help.
So, he turned around to leave, but caught something in the corner of his eye. A woman in her early twenties, with long curly hair and dangerously narrowed eyes, was looking at him. Hostility clear in her gaze.
“Uhhh!” Ye Jun felt an urge to facepalm.
“You! Stop right there!” the woman shouted at him.
But Ye Jun pretended he didn’t even hear her and continued walking. However, he was forced to stop as a curved blade fell before him, digging deep into the ground.
“I told you to stop!” the woman growled.
Ye Jun sighed and turned around. “And why should I listen to you? Are you the Pavilion Master’s secret concubine?”
“Stop spouting nonsense!” the woman—no, correction, the bitch—retrieved her blade and said, “Did you see anything here?”
Ye Jun normally would have let go of this matter since it didn’t concern him, but that wasn’t his plan in this sect. He planned to provoke the entirety of the sect.
“Quite a lot!” he responded calmly. “What are you doing behind the boulders, though?”
“Why don’t you come and see for yourself?” the bitch said.
“Sure!” Ye Jun agreed immediately.
The bitch froze for a moment, not expecting such a response. Then, she sneered in disdain and said, “So, you’re one of those arrogant fools. Come on then.”
Ye Jun happily followed her, since he didn’t feel much threat from her. If he had to guess, then she was likely in the early stages of the Qi Condensation Realm.
Though, the reason for following her was something different.
The boulder was quite big and hid their activities well, so they had to go around it. When he reached the other side, he found two fat women… no, correction again, two truck-built women standing over another young woman, repeatedly kicking her.
’As always, rules matter little in places like this.’ Ye Jun wasn’t even surprised.
According to the rules, no one could fight on sect grounds unless it was a proper duel. But here he was, seeing someone break it so easily. He did wonder how they got away with it, though.
One of the bulky women stopped and turned towards them. “Who is this?”
“Some smartass! New disciple definitely,” the bitch replied. “He saw me and also knew about our activities, so I thought of bringing him here.”
Ye Jun looked around and asked calmly, “How did you do it? Like, get away with breaking the rules.”
The bitch put the blade on his neck and said, “Shut your mouth and give us your commercial jade stone.”
“Daylight robbery?” Ye Jun was amused. “What will you give me in return, though?”
“Looks like you still don’t understand your position,” The truck said, cracking her knuckles.
“Another question!” Ye Jun said, a curious expression on his face. “How are you so fat? Don’t you Cultivate?”
