Chapter 49: My Angels

It was already midday and Tang Ya and Venomshade were still waiting anxiously for Fang Lin. A few minutes passed, and they saw him jogging towards them, with his face suspiciously looking refreshed.

“Hahaha, I’m fine now guys.” Fang Lin sat on the bench where Tang Ya was sitting on, putting his body closer to her. Tang Ya did not mind that proximity though. She was busy thinking of other things.

“Do you know where Wang Hao went?”

Fang Lin scrunched his eyebrows in thought. “Actually, I do not know. He said he was gonna do something, and that he need to do it alone. Maybe we will seldom see him until he finishes what he need to do.”

“Is that so….”

Fang Lin tried to hide his discomfort upon seeing the longing look in Tang Ya’s eyes. Fang Lin then sighed and said “Forget about Wang Hao first, can you tell me what happened with the other two matches?”

“Then let me show you” Venomshade pulled out a crytal ball with some sort of buttons on its base.

“This is a event recorder.” Venomshade then pressed some of the buttons and the crystal lit up. “Here it is.” He continued to fiddle with the controls until Fang Lin saw an image formed in the crystal. It was of two teams facing each other in the arena.

“What you are seeing now is Lin Xiang’s Group,” Venomshade pointed to the team on the left side on the crystal “and Stoneking’s Group.” He pointed towards the team on the right side of the ball.

“All right, here we go.” Venomshade then pressed the glaring red button.

The image on the ball then started to move. Lin Xiang’s group attacked first, with Lin Xiang staying in the rear. He then brought out a green bow embedded with white crystals on its body. The string of the bow seemed to be invisible to the naked eye. He then set the arrow on the bow, not moving at all. It seems like Lin Xiang preferred a long-distance combat while his teammates confront the enemy directly.

Lin Xiang’s teammates seemed to be twins, given the similarity of their faces. They were both females, sporting long black hair that has been braided into twintails. One of them was wearing a black skirt while the other one wears a white skirt. Both of them has this childish innocence on their expressions that makes one want to take care of them. Both of them wielded a short dagger, while they rode on their flying swords.

They rushed straight towards Stoneking himself, who appears to be not moving. Stoneking’s teammates are also rooted in place, seemingly not interested on helping out. The twins grinned, thinking that it will be really easy to take down the enemy’s leader. They are after all at the Ninth Level of the Qi Condensation Stage.

Their bodies suddenly increased in speed while their daggers hummed continuously, as if it was being vibrated at high speeds. The twins then slashed both of their daggers at Stoneking’s head.

“Take this! Divine Dagger Piercing through Heavens!”

“Ding!”

The divine dagger that the twins boasted off only bounced off Stoneking’s skin, as if it cannot penetrate any further. Stoneking then said on his deep voice

“Divine Dagger Piercing through Heavens? Hahahahaha! Maybe you use this dagger of yours to trim the hair of that sissy Lin Xiang!”

“Do not talk ill about him!” The twins then continued striking Stoneking with their daggers desperately. But wherever the dagger struck, they just bounced back, as if his skin was made of stone.

“You two are really unlucky!” Stoneking laughed uprariously. “Me and my teammates are all at the Peak Mana Circulation Stage. Not only that, but our group managed to create a technique that allows us to be linked with the earth itself. With this link, our defense will be as strong as the earth!”

The twins had despairing looks on their faces at their situation. If they could not penetrate this defense, how could they win?

“Calm down, my little angels.” It was then that Lin Xiang started to speak up. His voice was so calm that you will think as if this situation does not affect him. “All techniques have weaknesses. Take a look at them.” Lin Xiang then looked at the opposing team. “Aside from the increased defense, is there anything else that you think is unnatural?”

“Hmmm…” The twins tilted their head as they pondered. “Aha!” One of the twins who was wearing the white skirt exclaimed. “All three of them are ugly!”

“That’s wrong Tao’er.” Lin Xiang just laughed, as if he was expecting her to answer like that. “How about you Yue’er, any ideas?”

Yue’er, who was wearing the black skirt said slowly “They are not moving at all?”

“Exactly!” Lin Xiang clapped his hands as if he was obviously delighted. “Their technique really allows them to be like earth. They will be as hard as earth, but they need to be immobile in order to keep the link. Furthermore,” Lin Xiang continued while pointing his bow towards the sky. “I am sure they will lose that link once their connection from the ground disappears”

Lin Xiang then started to gather his mana on his bow and arrow. The bow and arrow started trembling, as if the strength stored within them was too much for them. He then released the arrow towards the sky.

“Skreeee…..” The arrow went high up in the air as it let out a brilliant streak.

“Hahaha! You missed!”

“I never miss!” The arrow suddenly dipped down, plunging towards the arena!

“Bang!” Once the arrow hit the arena, the ground exploded, catapulting Stoneking’s group towards the air.

“Now!”

Tao’er and Yu’er streaked across the explosion fragments, rushing towards the three. Their daggers let out sounds of slicing through flesh as they went pass them.

Stoneking’s group then fell to the ground, twitching, and clearly near the verge of death. Their throat were cleanly slit and blood was now pouring out of it merrily.

“Praise us master!” Tao’er and Yue’er presented their heads towards Lin Xiang, as if they did not care to the blood pooling the stage.

“There there.” Lin Xiang then started to pet the heads of the twins.

“Unnnnn…master is really the best!”

“For this match, I announce Lin Xiang’s Group as the winner!”

After this announcement of Chu Yang, Venomshade turned off the recorder.

“What happened to Stoneking’s Group?” Fang Lin could not help but worriedly ask.

Venomshade replied “Oh they are ok now, but it seems like they have been traumatized by the knives.”

“Hmmph, that Lin Xiang is even worse than you Fang Lin!” Tang Ya could not help but mutter. “You just have one child pet in your care, yet he has two adult women pretending to be his pets!”

“…” Fang Lin could not say that he felt jealous for the treatment that Lin Xiang received from the twins.

“So what about the next two matches? Let’s watch it too. ”

“Actually… there will be no way to watch those two matches anymore.”

“It seems like they some of them already surrendered even before the match started.”

“Ok, let’s rest up first!” But before Fang Lin could leave, some people blocked his way. It was Tao’er and Yue’er who were facing him with their arms crossed in front of their chest. Lin Xiang stood at the back, looking slightly vigilant towards Fang Lin.

Tao’er and Yue’er simultaneously opened their mouths as they said

“Give Eldest Sister back to us!”
