Chapter 52: Confession

On her neck, she wore a golden amulet that lets out a brilliant light. On her right hand, she held a 2-meter long golden staff with a fist-sized white gemstone on its end.

She also had thin, red lips and perfectly shaped nose which complemented with her innocent eyes. Her face could have been the symbol of innocence and chastity if not for her body. Her robes failed to hide her breasts, which was the largest one Fang Lin ever saw. Her thin waist and tight buttocks were also a sight to behold. This all led to an innocent looking woman with the body of a seductress.

All in all, Shadowbane’s abilities seems to be related to light, as the light essence is the antithesis of the dark essence. Shadow essence on the other hand, is a specialized type of dark essence. Thus, it will make sense for the light essence to oppress the shadow essence too.

Flanking Shadowbane on her both sides were two 2-meter tall robed persons. Their golden robes managed to hide their massive frame, while their golden masks also hid their facial features. From the way they move, one can infer that they could be guards for Shadowbane.

Upon seeing his enemy team, Lin Xiang frowned as he said slowly “What is someone from the Church of the Divine Light doing here? I thought your cult vows to be powerful only for the masses? As such, the Church had labeled all the darkness essence practitioners as heretics and hunts them down. This brought the Church into loggerheads with the assassination organization of Yao’er.

The gemstone at the end of the staff let out an overbearing amount of light essence that flooded the arena.

Fang Lin then felt that Yao’er went out of his shadow. She tightly hugged Fang Lin’s legs as she began trembling at the presence of the light essence.

“Unnnn… Master, that light scares me. I feel like it wants to eat me up.”

Fang Lin then gave an angry look towards Venomshade, who looked a little excited upon hearing the cute and adorable Yao’er say such a thing. Fang Lin turned towards Yao’er and patted her head.

“Master cannot leave now ok? If we leave now, maybe that Shadowbane lady detects you. Once she detects you, she might hurt you. So be a good girl and stay in my shadow ok?”

“Unn! Yes Master!” Yao’er rapidly moved her cute face upside down as she showed her agreement. She then fused back with Fang Lin’s shadow.

After calming Yao’er down, Fang Lin looked back towards the incoming battle. But what he saw made him go pale. Shadowbane and her two teammates were looking directly at him, as if they saw Yao’er appearing.

“Crap! This is not going to end good!”

At that moment, Shadowbane and her teammates attempted to leave the stage, rushing towards Fang Lin. But before they could leave, Chu Yang blocked their way.

“According to the rules, a team can only leave the arena once the battle is finished.” He said coolly.

“Che!” Shadowbane had no choice but to go back to the battle. “It seems like I need to clean up some trash first before I can slay a ‘heretic’.” Shadowbane then licked her lips as she slowly lifted her staff in the air. Her other teammates then let out swords on their right hands, both glowing with a golden hue.

Fang Lin felt a massive headache incoming on his way. His master had just left, then he had to deal with Tang Ya and Fang Xiushan. He also has to keep his bloodline a secret. Now, he has to worry about two powerful organizations who were after Yao’er. It seemed like the Immortal God Sect will be hard-pressed to protect him in the future.

He then looked at the battle arena. He just hoped that Lin Xiang’s team would win and manage to eliminate Shadowbane’s group.

That would give Fang Lin some time to have a plan against these three church envoys who discovered Yao’er.

But before they could start the attack, Shadowbane and her teammates felt something in their throats. Shadowbane touched her throat, trying to feel what was wrong. Suddenly, her vision shifted and she was now staring at the sky.

“What happened to me?”

It was then that Shadowbane saw a headless body in front of her that unceasingly spouted blood from its neck. It was her own headless body. She then looked at her teammates, and she saw that they were decapitated too.

Before darkness filled Shadowbane’s vision, she saw the culprit of everything. She saw Lin Xiang with the dark essence emanating from him. He held two black knives, both of them dripping with blood.

“All Hail the Divine Light…” It was Shadowbane’s last thought before she died.

The audience were all shell-shocked by what happened. Chu Yang frowned towards Lin Xiang, who already lost his outgoing attitude. He looked like a seasoned killer now, who was ready to strike anyone down.

“Is it really necessary to kill them?”

“I am of the shadow, and they are of the light.” Lin Xiang coolly replied. “We are fated to kill each other. Besides, it’s not my fault if they cannot dodge my attacks. They were just too weak, that is all.”

Chu Yan found no way to rebuke Lin Xiang. He just sighed as he said “For the last match of the Semi-finals, the winner is Lin Xiang’s group!”

This time, nobody cheered for them. After some minutes of awkward silence, Lin Xiang’s Group left. Fang Lin’s group then followed suit. After that, all the spectators went back to their respective quarters. What they will wait for now is the group finals for tomorrow.

The corpses of Shadowbane and her teammates have been brought away silently by Chu Yang.

“I think I have fallen for you, Tang Ya.”

The only sound that can be heard outside was the footsteps of a nervous man approaching Fang Lin’s house.
