A pair of dangerous blue eyes looked down at him. The monster had no doubt; just a swing of that sword and its life would end. Khal had not said a word; his gaze alone was enough to intimidate the monster who had always disdained them just a moment ago.

Devion was not surprised by his reaction. Khal was too sensitive to curse talks. They were very aware that surviving this long… might already be a limit. They were already preventing it and had never found a cure.

The monster was not wrong. But maybe it was not right either. Ayen’s image flashed in his mind, both of them actually, and their expression softened slightly.
