Chapter 124: THE BOY DIED

John was totally shocked. The two he sent to keep an eye on Logan weren’t just anybody. They were both Tier 5 mages.

And both of them were killed? He couldn’t believe what he just heard. Then suddenly another question arose in his mind.

“And what about the boy?” John asked hurriedly.

“The boy was taken. A coachman from the royal palace was there. When we arrived there, we found him in such a terrified state that he didn’t even have the courage to move.” He paused for a moment before continuing again.

“You can leave now,” John said.

Soft sunlight was entering through the window cracks.

“He said they were attacked on the way… and Logan was taken away as a captive. Two people even died while trying to save him.”

Rowan couldn’t believe it. Just yesterday, they had all been together.

After thinking for a while, he made a decision.

He gently placed his hand on Daliah’s shoulder and said softly,

“Don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”

Then he quickly changed his clothes and stepped outside.

He told a nearby servant to prepare a carriage immediately.

Just then, Daliah came running up beside him.

“I’m going with you,” she said firmly.

“No. You should stay,” Rowan replied.

“No, I’m going. And that’s final.”

Her voice was steady and unshakable.

Rowan pondered for a while before finally saying, “Alright. Let’s go.”

Within a short time, a carriage was already waiting at the gates. But this time, two royal guards stood beside it, fully armed. Rowan had requested them personally—for safety.

He and Daliah walked toward the carriage in silence. One guard opened the door, and they both stepped inside.

The coachman looked through the small window.

“Your highness, where to?”

“Aerundale,” Rowan replied. “To the Smith family villa.”

Since it was a long journey, they didn’t waste time sitting for breakfast. Instead, they had packed some food and water inside the carriage to eat along the way.

With a flick of the reins, the coachman urged the horses forward.

The carriage began moving at a fast pace, leaving behind the royal palace as they sped toward the Smith household.

Meanwhile, back at John’s villa—-

John was seated in his room, lost in thoughts. His face was calm, but his fingers were tapping the wood restlessly. He hadn’t slept much. His mind was filled with possibilities.

Just then, the door creaked open.

The young man from last night stepped inside.

“Mr. John,” he said quietly, his voice uncertain.

John looked up sharply. “Yes. Hurry up. Tell me what our tracker found.”

The young man hesitated. He looked down, unsure whether to say it.

John narrowed his eyes.

“Speak.”

The young man swallowed hard and finally spoke.

“According to the tracker… the boy…” He paused again. His throat felt dry.

Then, forcing the words out—

“The boy fell from a cliff… and died.”
