Chapter 162: TO TRAIN ALONE

After the training session with Ali, Logan soon finished his shower after he returned to his inn. Then he got down and entered Delicia for breakfast. Soon his food was served.

While eating, his mind buzzed with so many questions.

“What now?” He asked himself.

“Gideon’s party can’t raid right now. Melissa’s still recovering. Should I solo an E-class dungeon to gather some spiritual energy and cultivate?”

He paused and looked out the window.

“No. I shouldn’t take any unnecessary risks at the moment.”

He was still in deep thoughts while chewing his food about what to do next. And just then, an idea popped into his mind.

“Why don’t I focus on improving my magical abilities at the moment. The method guild master taught me, I should be able to implement that with all my affinities.” He was delighted for a short moment before the smile vanished again. “But i need to find a different place.”

He couldn’t do it in the guild’s arena. Not freely. Not without the risk of someone recognizing his real identity.

He clenched his jaw.

“I need a place where no one’s watching.”

After finishing his meal, Logan stood up and headed back toward the Hunter Guild.

The streets of Solvane were just beginning to wake up. Warm morning sunlight lit the rooftops. Shopkeepers opened their stores, hunters moved in groups, and the smell of cooked food drifted from the taverns.

Soon he reached his destination. After entering inside, he walked straight to the receptionist desk.

Elizabeth was organizing a few request scrolls when she saw him. “Back again?”

“I need your help,” Logan said.

“With what?”

“Is there any place around Solvane where I can train without being disturbed? Somewhere I can go all out without holding back.”

Elizabeth tilted her head. “What’s wrong with the fighting arena we have here? You know you can use that at any time you want, right?”

“I do. But,” Logan tried to come out with an excuse. “It just feels a bit boring here. Many people are there and sometimes staring at me.”

She tapped her finger on the counter, thinking.

“Is he for real or just messing with me?!”

After a few seconds, she nodded slowly. “There’s a mountain range to the south. About two hours from here by horse. Most hunters avoid it because it’s too far from the city, and desolate. So maybe it’s exactly what you are looking for. But try to cautious. There were many dungeons there in the past.”

“That sounds perfect,” Logan said. “Thanks a lot.”

Elizabeth scribbled the direction on a piece of paper and handed it over. “Here, it will be easier for you too reach there with this.”

“Thanks.”

Logan turned and walked away.

Although his heart wanted to stay beside Gideon’s team… part of him couldn’t. Not now.

He knew Melissa was still healing. He knew Jessi and Luna were probably checking on her. But he also knew, he was partially at fault for Melissa’s current situation.

The guilt from that last raid still weighed on his chest. Though it was to protect his identity, it wouldn’t be worth it if someone died. And….

He needed to get stronger too. The sooner the better.

So instead of offering comfort… he chose to train. So that, next time, if a same situation arises like this, he doesn’t have to worry about his identity and go all out. Then return to his family as well.

He returned to the inn, packed a few things and saddled up his horse.

By 9 in the morning, he was already out of the city gates.

He rode alone, his cloak fluttering behind him, his expression steady.

The road felt peaceful.

Birds chirped. The wind blew gently through the trees. There were no monsters, no carts, no people.

Just silence.

After two hours of riding, Logan reached the spot.

It was exactly how Elizabeth described.

A large, open field stretched at the base of the rocky cliffs. Trees surrounded the edges, and small rocks were scattered across the ground. No signs of life. Just space.

Logan dismounted and tied his horse to a nearby tree. He looked around once, then stepped into the middle of the clearing.

He cracked his knuckles.

“Let’s begin.”

He started with air and fire. Just like Ali had shown, he tried using air to accelerate a fireball.

His first attempt was rough.

His second attempt went a bit further, but missed the timing.

Still, Logan kept trying.

Then he quietly packed up and returned to Solvane for the night.

The next few days followed the same pattern.

Every morning, he trained with Ali Arkman in the guild’s arena, focusing on fire and ice layering under supervision.

Then after breakfast, he rode alone to the southern mountains and practiced air-fire, air-ice, and ice-fire combinations.

No one saw him. No one disturbed him.

Just nature. And sparkle of his spells with a devastating aftermath.

On the fourth day, he managed to launch a clean air-boosted fireball that traveled twenty meters just within a blink before exploding.

On the fifth day, he shaped a small disk of ice, spun it with air, and sliced a tree trunk in half.

With each passing day, his control and understanding of the nature of this type of combination was improving.

It was progress.

Slow. Painful. But real.

By the end of two long weeks, the ground around the clearing looked like a battlefield…frost patches, burn marks, small craters, shattered rocks.

Logan stood in the middle, breathing heavily.

His shirt was torn at the edges. His hands were sore. But there was a calmness in his eyes.

“Almost there.”

He turned to collect his bag and cloak. After picking up everything, he headed toward the place where his horse was tied.

He continued walking with a calm expression.

But suddenly his steps stopped. His one leg froze in mid air. His eyes widened.

He felt something. A strange wave passed through the air.

Strange but too familiar.

“Spiritual energy?!”
