Chapter 97: BAD NEWS

Solemon already knew what kind of questions he would face. And Leo didn’t disappoint him. But he was still hesitating.

Logan seemed to be well acquainted with the Third Prince. So surely, the prince knew about Logan’s abilities. He had to. But if the prince didn’t say anything, then he must’ve had his reasons. “It was that kid you just talked to. He was the one who fought the Orc and kept it busy while we were handling the goblins and dire wolves.”

He decided to come clean. The prince didn’t forbid him or tell him to stay silent. And it wasn’t a lie either. So it seemed okay to say it now.

At first, there was silence. The group couldn’t process what they just heard.

After a few seconds, Kyle’s voice broke the stillness. “What the f**k, man? We just saved you, and here you are. Messing with us. Do you think this is funny?”

Others chimed in too.

“Yeah, dude,” Duke added. “If you didn’t want to tell us, fine. But what’s this nonsense?”

Leo didn’t say anything. He just stared at Solemon, trying to read his face. And Solemon didn’t look like he was lying. Leo was sure of it. Still, it was hard to accept what he said.

“Why would I lie about something like this? If you think I’m making it up, then tell me why I would do that,” Solemon replied calmly.

The others still couldn’t believe it, but none of them could answer that question either.

“What’s his name? Who is he to the prince? They left together. So they know each other for sure,” Leo asked again.

“Yes. The prince was worried about him. The princess too,” Lily said softly.

“I don’t know much. I only know his name—Logan Smith. And this is what happened…”

Solemon then briefly told them what he saw.

How the prince was almost at death’s door when Logan appeared in the market and saved him. How he continued fighting with the Orc alone. But the most shocking part was where Logan formed an ice barrier, shielded the prince, and smashed the Orc afterward.

This last part was the hardest to believe. It sounded too dramatic. No one would believe such a thing unless they saw it with their own eyes.

No one said anything for a while. The group stood in silence, processing what they had just learned.

And with that, the conversation ended—not because their curiosity was satisfied, but because they didn’t know what to ask anymore.

The trio had already reached the carriage.

Coachman Sean came forward and opened the door for them. He was happy beyond words to see them alive. Gilbert was already there. Rowan had sent him back earlier after healing him, just in case some monsters escaped and tried to harm others. Gilbert stayed behind to guard the route.

“Your Highness, I’m glad you’re all safe,” Sean said with a relieved voice. He was still a bit worried, since he didn’t follow Rowan’s earlier order properly. But seeing that Rowan didn’t mention it after returning, he felt relieved.

Rowan smiled politely and nodded. Then stepped into the carriage. Daliah followed him. Logan was the last to enter.

It was already evening. The sky had turned orange and gold. The carriage rolled forward slowly on the stone-paved road, heading toward the palace.

Inside, the carriage was quiet.

Not because of sadness—just pure exhaustion.

Rowan and Logan were both tired after the intense fight. Even though their injuries were healed, the fatigue didn’t go away. Healing magic couldn’t remove the weariness from a real battle.

Adlan entered with a panicked expression. “Sis, it’s bad news.” He said as he rushed toward Mirena.

Mirena raised an eyebrow. “What happened?”

Adlan only passed her an envelope.

Mirena slowly took it and tore it open.

And her eyes widened in fear.
