From a distance, he caught sight of Logan — sitting still beneath the turbulent sky. He urged his horse forward, but before he could advance much farther, the animal reared up, neighing wildly, refusing to move another step. Its entire body trembled in fear, as though warning its rider that venturing closer would be courting death.

The loud neighs drew attention. The three cultivators from the Evil Spirit Families, who also had been waiting nearby for Logan’s tribulation to end, immediately noticed Rowan’s arrival.

“Who’s that?” one of them asked.

“Maybe someone who knows the brat,” Lifeng replied.

“Should we capture him?” another suggested.

“That’s a good idea,” Lifeng chuckled darkly. “If he refuses to cooperate, we can use him as leverage.”

The other two exchanged silent glances, and then, in the next instant, their figures blurred, darting toward Rowan like shadows in the storm.

Rowan, who had been cautiously making his way toward Logan, suddenly felt an overwhelming pressure — the kind that made every instinct scream danger, as if a pack of predators were about to pounce.

He spun around sharply, lightning crackling in his hands as he prepared to strike, but before he could react, a brutal punch slammed into his stomach. The impact knocked the air out of him, and his body crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

The three figures stood over Rowan’s fallen body. One of them stepped forward and grabbed Logan by the neck, lifting him as if he were an object rather than a person.

“Let’s move into the trees. If anyone else shows up, we’ll capture them the same way,” one of them said coldly.

Moments later, their figures blurred and vanished into the forest, melting seamlessly into the shadows between the trees.
