The ride home should have been quiet, if not for Bella, who practically bombarded Alex with questions about how he had managed to get close to the Cullens so quickly. Memories of their first time working together surfaced so vividly, it felt as if it had happened yesterday.

“How long have you been having visions about Alex?” Lucina asked in passing. “Time is such a strange thing. And aside from him and his eccentric friend Yog, who regularly steals sweets from him, no one can really tell you anything.”

Alex gave her a dry look, but she just smiled even wider, as if nothing had happened. Sighing, he decided this wasn’t the worst way to wake up — he’d been awakened far more harshly before: with kicks or even bites to the face. Compared to that, Alice’s method could almost be called peaceful.
