- Chapter 508: The vampires caused more trouble than expected."
The appearance of three uninvited vampires completely ruined everyone’s mood — the baseball game was over, and no one felt like continuing anymore. Bella occasionally cast long glances at Alex, as if she wanted to ask something but couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Esme, as kind and caring as ever, suggested that everyone have dinner together. No one was about to refuse food prepared by Esme, and her offer managed to lift the general mood, at least a little.
While everyone was packing up, Alice approached Carlisle and quietly explained that a hunter had already arrived in Forks, tracking James, Victoria, and Laurent — and that more were likely to follow soon. The news didn’t please either Carlisle or Esme. After all, they had chosen this quiet town to live peacefully, far away from danger.
Carlisle thought for a moment, but soon calmed down. Right now, their family was indistinguishable from humans, so there was no need to panic. All they had to do was be careful for the next couple of weeks and avoid drawing attention to themselves. Still, he couldn’t help but sigh, thinking about how much trouble those three — James, Victoria, and Laurent — had caused just by showing up.
The Cullens were the first to leave the clearing, and Bella went with Edward. Only Alex, Lucina, Alice, and Samantha remained. They got into the Impala and headed toward the Cullens’ house.
When Alex started the engine and pulled onto the forest road, his phone chimed softly with a notification. Sitting in the front seat, Alice quickly picked it up, unlocked the screen, and read the message — it was from Red. It said that James and Victoria had already been delivered to the lab.
Alex couldn’t help but wonder what kind of experiments Red and White were planning, but then he remembered that Tannis was working there now too. That could mean only one thing — one of the two would be dissected.
“And what’s going to happen to those vampires?” Samantha asked, leaning forward slightly.
“Nothing good, that’s for sure,” Lucina replied, resting her arm on the back of Alex’s seat and gently running her fingers through his hair.
“Care to give a few examples? Not that I’m curious… I just want to understand the scale of the tragedy,” Samantha said in a thoughtful tone.
“The list of experiments could be long,” Alex said calmly, keeping his eyes on the road. “Testing regeneration, resistance to viruses, parasites, curses, magic… and other joys of scientific curiosity.”
“So they’ll even inject them with a zombie virus?” Alice asked with interest.
“What, are you curious too — whether a vampire can become a zombie?” Lucina asked with a smile.
“After Alex and Emmett spent the whole evening arguing about it,” Alice admitted with a nod, “yeah, I’m curious now too.”
Alex just smirked, exhaling a thin stream of smoke out the window.
“Well, we’ll find out soon enough. I’m sure Tannis will test that theory.”
Samantha and Lucina both nodded — they were curious about the outcome as well. Alex merely shook his head; in any case, Red and White would surely compile a detailed report on their experiments.
While the Impala carried them toward the Cullens’ house, James and Victoria were already inside the Guild’s research facility. As true vampires, they quickly regained consciousness and realized they were in a completely unfamiliar place. The last thing they remembered was running through the forest, the sudden onset of deep night… and then a blank space in their memory.
James tried to move, but his entire body was strapped down, and a metal gag filled his mouth. Despite the darkness, vampires could see fairly well; around them were only two tables they’d been bound to, and cold white walls. As they struggled to break free, a bright light suddenly flickered on in the room.
Victoria’s unique gift — the ability to sense danger — activated stronger than ever: the feeling of threat rang loudly in her mind. She and James froze, staring at the only door in the room. A second later, the mechanical panels slid open, and two women in lab coats appeared in the doorway — Red and White.
Red held a tablet and wore simple glasses with thin black frames; White’s long hair was tied in a high ponytail, she wore silver-framed glasses, and a cart carrying a suspicious-looking solution rolled in front of her. They calmly entered the room and stopped between the tables to which James and Victoria were strapped.
“Curious specimens our ‘husband’ delivered this time,” Red remarked, scrolling through the data on her tablet.
“Did he give any special instructions?” White asked, preparing her tools.
“No particular instructions,” Red replied, “except one question: what happens if a vampire bites a zombie? Interesting question — worth testing before we start the dissection.”
“That will require synthesizing several strains,” White said thoughtfully. “Where should we start?”
“With the T-virus. It’s less lethal and easier to control in the early stages of mutation. We’ll request the materials from the sisters and prepare the samples,” Red decided, opening the Guild app on her tablet.
“We can use the ‘psychos’ from Pandora as disposable material,” White suggested coldly.
“And involve some of our scientists from the lab,” Red added.
“Who do you propose we bring onto the team?” White asked, adjusting her glasses.
“I suggest Alex Wesker. She’s currently free, living quietly and out of the public eye; her knowledge of virology could be useful,” Red replied, showing a photo on her tablet of Alex strolling through the streets of Orario.
While Red and White held their business conversation, ignoring the pleas and fears of the vampires strapped to the tables, James and Victoria trembled in terror. Both scientists knew perfectly well that their “husband” didn’t hesitate to sacrifice the lives of such creatures in the name of results, so moral doubts didn’t bother them. Their practical, cold approach — that’s how they justified their actions: preventing possible epidemics in unknown worlds was more important than pity for the “materials.”
From the moment James and Victoria arrived in this remote section of the lab, the place became their personal hell: they faced experiments and studies beyond imagination — from exploring the mechanics of vampirism to testing how their nature interacted with viruses capable of altering the very essence of a being.
Meanwhile, Alex was at the Cullen house, relaxing at the table with a cup of coffee carefully prepared by Alice.
After Esme had arranged a real feast to lift everyone’s spirits following the unpleasant encounter with the three vampires, the whole group happily enjoyed the delicious food.
Soon, however, Carlisle’s phone rang in his office. He went upstairs to answer it, with Esme following him. A few minutes later, they returned downstairs — Carlisle had to go to the hospital immediately: two more bodies had been found in the forest. Esme accompanied him, as a city council meeting concerning “wild animal” attacks was about to take place.
Everyone understood that these weren’t really animals, but they still had to maintain appearances. Once Carlisle and Esme left, the others returned to their activities.
Bella sat next to Edward, listening to him play the piano. Rosalie, seizing the moment, convinced Alex to lend her the “Departure.” Emmett and Jasper played a video game, with Jane occasionally watching and commenting. Lucina browsed through the FBC archives, Alice fussed with GIR, MIMI, and Stitch, and Samantha immersed herself in her father’s diary again, rereading the pages of his life as a hunter.
“Alex, don’t you need to go to that city council meeting too?” Bella asked, turning to him.
“Maybe I should, but I’m not going,” Alex replied lazily, taking a sip of his coffee. “What’s the point? Listening to people argue about who’s to blame and what to do next? I can’t exactly say, ‘Vampires arrived in the city, but I’ve already handled it, no thanks necessary. Better give me money — I’ll buy some sweets.'”
Bella blinked, confused, unable to find a reply. Edward, playing the piano, missed a note and let out a quiet laugh. The others couldn’t help but smile too.
Alex just smirked and took another sip of his coffee. He really didn’t want to participate in useless arguments. He knew perfectly well how such a meeting would go: people would split into two camps — some would suggest handling the “wild animals” themselves, while others would push for a curfew and a ban on entering the forest.
What unsettled Alex, however, was that in the original timeline, Carlisle and Esme never attended such meetings, even after James, Victoria, and Laurent left a trail of blood all the way to Forks. That meant only one thing — events were beginning to change.
Tapping his finger on the table, Alex decided it wasn’t worth worrying about what couldn’t yet be explained.
“Want to come check out something? We found a new online show. Pretty funny,” he offered, scanning everyone with his gaze.
“What kind of show?” Rosalie asked, looking up from her book.
“It’s a complete nightmare!” Alice jumped in with a wide grin. “An online show where a group of idiots hunts ghosts. And guess what — Samantha’s friends joined them!”
“Alice, you’re joking, right?” Jane asked skeptically, glancing over her shoulder.
“Unfortunately, no,” Samantha sighed with a tired smile. “We watched this nonsense yesterday. Even Bella was with us. I don’t even know how to comment… it’s just awful.”
Bella nodded in agreement.
“So,” Emmett drawled, pausing the game, “our choices are: keep being bored, or watch a bunch of cowardly hunters creep around abandoned houses looking for ghosts? Did I get that right?”
“Exactly,” Alex smirked. “Either way, it’s more interesting than just sitting around waiting for something to happen.”
“Then what are we waiting for?” Emmett laughed. “Rosie, grab your jacket. Let’s go!”
Rosalie shook her head wearily and closed her book, but a smile appeared on her face. Alex looked at Jasper and Jane, waiting for their opinion. Jasper shrugged and glanced at Jane — she just nodded: she didn’t mind. Bella looked at Edward, and seeing no reason to refuse, he agreed as well.
Once ready, the group drove to Alex’s house. On the way, they stopped by a store to grab snacks for their evening gathering. After stocking up on a bunch of things, they returned home: Alex parked the Impala, opened the trunk, and started pulling out the bags while the others headed into the living room.
Upon entering the house, they were met with an unusual sight — two unfamiliar twin girls were sitting on the couch, watching TV. The moment Ichiko and Niko noticed the guests, they instantly transformed into dolls and shot up into the air. Everyone froze, especially Bella; she had seen the same dolls yesterday and thought they were just toys.
“You have ghosts in your house?” Bella breathed, stunned.
“No, they’re not ghosts. They’re zashiki-warashi, protective spirits of the house,” Lucina replied calmly as she entered the living room.
“So are they ghosts or not? These flying dolls look kind of creepy,” Emmett muttered, flopping into a chair.
At that moment, a small object flew into his head. After getting lightly tapped on the back of his head, Emmett turned around — two dolls were looking at him from the steps of the second floor. Everyone stared back and forth between Emmett and the dolls.
“Don’t hurt them. They’re very cute. These are Ichiko and Niko,” Alex said, setting the bags of food on the table.
After that, no one doubted or speculated — Ichiko and Niko were simply part of the house. Everyone became curious about what else they could do besides tossing small objects. While Alex, Samantha, and Lucina were arranging snacks on plates, Alice took on the role of storyteller: she explained that zashiki-warashi protected the house and even helped with cleaning. Everyone agreed — spirits like these were a real find.
GIR, MIMI and Stitch, meanwhile, paid attention to Claptrap: they dragged him up to the second floor to play video games and took a whole bag of snacks with them—because they could. Once everything was ready and everyone sat down, Alex turned on the first episode of the online show Ghostfacers.
Ten minutes into the viewing, no one in the room could stop laughing: the show turned out to be openly ridiculous. One minute a hunter would run away screaming, the next the “scary” object would be nothing more than a fallen plank—the situations got funnier and funnier.
“I have a question: can ghosts really be driven off with salt and iron?” Bella asked thoughtfully after the explanations about ghost-hunting.
“Not ‘defeated’, but ‘driven away’. To get rid of one for good, you have to burn the remains or the object the spirit is attached to,” Samantha answered, looking into her father’s journal.
“Is there no other way?” Bella asked hesitantly, taking the journal into her hands.
“Usually ghosts are people with unfinished business. Over time those attachments turn into malice. There are two ways to deal with it: either reconcile the soul with the past—which is almost impossible—or destroy the object of attachment,” Alex said while Lucina fed him chips.
“So… that means digging bodies up from graves?” Bella blushed.
“Yes. You dig them up, salt and pepper, burn them—and voilà, the ghost is gone,” Alex said dryly. “Hunter work is dirty and thankless. Nobody says ‘thank you’, and sometimes they accuse you of not saving someone. Even in Samantha’s father’s journal there are lots of entries about people he couldn’t save. Learning is one thing, doing it is another. If you’re not ready, just learn and don’t get into it.”
Bella lowered her eyes to Samantha’s father’s journal and came across an entry about a young man he failed to save. Some creature called a Striga had grabbed him. The lines chilled Bella to the bone—she realized again that the supernatural world was not benevolent but full of danger and pain.
Edward, noticing how pale she’d gone, put his hand on her shoulder, quietly letting her know he was there and wouldn’t leave her alone in that world of nightmares.
Alex only shook his head quietly. He had warned many times: hunting creatures and ghosts is deadly dangerous and far from predictable. He understood Samantha’s desire to become stronger and to learn how to defend herself and supported her—she clearly understood the price to be paid. But Bella… Bella had no experience, no weapons, not even the slightest protection in case some monster took an interest in her.
“All right, enough gloomy stuff,” Emmett broke the silence. “I’ve got a question: what if there’s no body? Or the object the ghost is attached to is gone? How do you put it to rest then?”
“Excellent question, my dear pupil Emmett,” Alex smirked, placing a candy in his hand. “For cleverness.”
Emmett smiled appreciatively, and the others looked at Alex, waiting for him to continue.
“Well,” Rosalie drawled, stretching slightly, “this is actually interesting. I, for one, have never encountered ghosts.”
“As Alex said,” Lucina spoke, running her fingers through his hair, “most of the time burning the body or object works. But sometimes a spirit isn’t tied to anything material. Then it gets much harder—those spirits are usually bound to the place itself.”
“So does the house have to be burned? Or just demolished?” Edward raised an eyebrow.
“First of all, that rarely helps,” Alice said, tapping Alex’s knee with a finger. “And secondly, if a spirit is tied to a place, it means something truly terrible happened there.”
“For example?” Bella asked, tilting her head.
“In short—mass slaughter,” Alex answered, standing up and scanning the room. “Many victims, one culprit. We actually had documents on a similar case… Hm, where did I put them?”
“I saw them upstairs, in our room,” Samantha said, getting up. “I’ll bring them.”
Samantha went up to the second floor, entered the room, and approached the cabinet where neatly stacked printed documents were kept. Finding the right folder, she quickly came back down and handed it to Alex.
He opened the folder and spread the papers out on the table. Inside were personal files of doctors, patients, and staff from the psychiatric hospital—including a separate, particularly large dossier on the head doctor, Arthur Fridkin.
“This hospital was located not far from here,” Emmett remarked, flipping through one of the documents.
“That’s right,” Alex nodded. “Very few people know what really happened at the Collingwood Hospital. The head doctor, Arthur Fridkin, completely lost his mind. He was obsessed with the supernatural and conducted monstrous experiments on the patients.”
He paused briefly and tapped a finger on a photograph showing a balding man in a white coat with a vacant stare.
“At one point, the patients rebelled. They killed almost all the staff along with Fridkin. After that, terrible things started happening in the hospital—windows opening on their own, screams echoing through the corridors, people disappearing. In 1950, it was shut down. Since then, no one has gone near it… and believe me, for good reason.”
Alex pulled out another stack of documents and tossed it onto the table.
“Since the closure, over a hundred people have disappeared—and that’s only the ones we know about. How many actually vanished is unknown.”
“And they all… became ghosts, right?” Bella asked quietly, flipping through the files with photos of the missing.
“To put it mildly, it ended very badly for them,” Alex replied. “The main ghost there is Arthur Fridkin himself. He keeps the other spirits trapped inside the hospital, continuing his experiments even after death. This place is cursed—it’s better not to go near it.”
“So, to free the others, you have to defeat him? Like in video games?” Emmett asked, raising an eyebrow.
Alex smirked.
“Ah, if only it were that simple… Lucina, my love, please open the files from the FBC database that you were reading yesterday. There were a couple of reports on this hospital.”
Lucina nodded and connected her tablet to the TV, displaying a massive document on the screen. The top line of the report read: “Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital — Classification: Spatial Anomaly.”
Everyone except Emmett exchanged glances, not fully understanding what it meant. Only Emmett frowned as he read the line—he immediately realized how serious it was.
If even the FBC database classified the site as a spatial anomaly, solving the problem would be far more complicated than it seemed.
“Spatial anomaly…” Jasper muttered, “that’s like a place where the laws of physics don’t apply, right?”
“Almost,” Alex replied, standing and leaning on the back of the couch. “It’s distorted space. These zones can stretch distances, alter the flow of time, and warp perception of reality itself. Sometimes—they can even pull you in, like a trap. In the case of Collingwood, if you stay there overnight, you wake up somewhere else entirely, with no way out.”
After his explanation, the living room fell silent. The expressions on everyone’s faces were tense and worried.
Alex didn’t rush to make any decisions. No one had entered the hospital for a long time, and there was no pressing reason to intervene yet. But he knew that if the anomaly was starting to manifest again, it was only a matter of time before someone wandered in by accident.
While Alex continued explaining the details, the Cullens and Bella were engrossed in flipping through the dossiers and documents, studying the diagrams and photographs. Suddenly, a phone rang.
Bella got up, grabbed her phone, and stepped aside.
A few minutes later, she returned to the couch—pale, with a bewildered expression.
“What happened?” Edward asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.
“It was Charlie,” Bella said quietly. “He asked where I was… and said that two of our classmates had gone missing in the forest.”
“Missing? You mean they just got lost?” Rosalie frowned.
Bella shook her head.
“No. The search party found their things… a wallet soaked in blood and signs of a struggle.”
“Do you think it’s that trio of vampires?” Samantha asked, her voice hardening.
“Maybe,” Bella whispered, squeezing Edward’s hand tighter.
“The main thing is whether they found the bodies,” Jane interjected coldly. “If not, it could be much worse.”
“Worse?” Bella frowned. “Worse than death?”
“That they didn’t die,” Rosalie said grimly. “If those three turned them, we now have newborn vampires in the area. And those are the most dangerous. They can’t control their thirst. If there are newborns roaming the forest right now, it could turn into a disaster—especially with search teams out there.”
Alex stood up from the couch.
“Then we need to act. Find the bodies, or whatever remains of them. If they really are newborns, we have to catch them before they kill anyone.”
Everyone agreed. No one wanted new hunters showing up in Forks because of newborn vampires.
They decided to split into three groups. Lucina, Samantha, and Bella stayed at home, while the others headed into the forest.
“Alex and I—together,” Emmett said, clenching his fist. “We’ll work like last time.”
“Alice, Rosalie, and Jane—second group,” Alex added. “Jasper and Edward—third.”
After splitting up, they disappeared among the trees. Alex and Emmett moved quickly, leaping across branches, careful not to be seen by the search teams.
“Alex, do you feel that?” Emmett whispered, stopping on a branch.
Alex inhaled deeply.
“Smells like blood. Over there.” He pointed in the direction.
They jumped down and raced toward the source of the scent. After a few minutes, they reached a small clearing. The air reeked of iron, and the grass was darkened with dried blood.
Emmett spotted a body under an upturned tree root.
“Alex! Over here!”
They approached. Alex pushed aside the obstructing root—beneath it lay a man with a pale face and a throat torn down to the bone.
“Newborns,” Emmett said grimly. “Only they could rip a victim like this.”
Alex crouched, examining the ground. Bloody tracks led deeper into the forest.
“See?” he said, pointing. “The trail goes that way.”
“That direction’s Quillet territory,” Emmett noted. “Think he went that way?”
“I don’t know,” Alex replied, standing. “But if wolves tore up a newborn, that’s one less problem for us.”
He straightened, casting a final glance at the body.
“At least, that’s something to hope for.”
After finishing with the body, Alex and Emmett dashed further along the trail left by the newborn. Halfway through, they heard a prolonged howl and quickened their pace. The closer they got, the clearer the sounds of a furious struggle became—thudding blows, rasps, growls, and the crack of breaking branches.
Reaching the clearing, Alex and Emmett saw several massive wolves surrounding two newborn vampires. The air was thick with the scent of blood and animal rage. Some of the wolves were wounded, but they held their ground—unsurprising, given that they were fighting creatures whose strength and speed exceeded human limits.
Emmett clicked his tongue and smirked, watching the spectacle. It wasn’t every day you saw wolves going toe-to-toe with vampires.
While Alex and Emmett stayed hidden in the shadows, the largest wolf, clearly the pack leader, growled low and lunged forward. The newborn didn’t react in time—the wolf sank its teeth into his throat, pinning him to the ground. The second newborn rushed to help, but the other wolves immediately surrounded him and tore him apart. Within moments, the first newborn was dead, and the massive wolf stood over him, breathing heavily.
Alex whistled, impressed by their efficiency. However, his whistle instantly drew the wolves’ attention. They turned, growling and baring their teeth, and when they saw Emmett nearby, the rage in their eyes intensified.
Emmett smirked confidently and cracked his knuckles, showing he wasn’t opposed to a little action.
“Hey, enough growling, or I might just swing this stick,” Alex said lazily, pulling out a cigarette. “Who’s in charge here? We need to talk.”
The wolves glanced at each other, then all eyes turned to the largest—Alpha. He stared at Alex briefly, then silently disappeared into the bushes. A minute later, a tall guy with tanned skin and short black hair stepped out from behind the trees. He was wearing nothing but shorts.
Alex squinted, thoughtfully stroking his chin.
“I wonder how much they spend on clothes if they always end up naked after transforming?”
“So, you’re the boss, huh? Alpha, if I’m not mistaken. What’s your name? Awkward to just say ‘Hey, wolf,'” Alex exhaled a stream of smoke.
“Sam,” he replied shortly, frowning. “And vampires don’t belong here. Leave.”
“For starters, I’m not a vampire,” Alex said calmly. “And we’re here on business. These two,” he nodded toward the torn bodies of the newborns, “killed several people in the forest.”
“Who turned them?” Sam demanded sharply, glancing at Emmett.
“Not the Cullens,” Alex said firmly. “Three vampires showed up in town. That’s their doing. I’ve already handled them, so you don’t need to worry.”
“Then why are they here?” Sam pressed.
“Just passing through,” Alex shrugged. “Left a trail of corpses behind. You can check with Billy Black; he knows. Still friends with Charlie Swan, after all.”
He took another drag and added:
“And before we leave—consider this a warning. Hunters might come to town. One is already here, and he has plenty of reason to poke around. To them, you’re monsters just like vampires. They won’t care why you transform—they’ll just shoot. So for the next couple of weeks, lay low… and don’t mark trees or someone else’s lawns.”
Emmett snorted quietly, turning away to hide his laughter.
“We’ll keep that in mind,” Sam grumbled, struggling to stay calm, though it was clear Alex’s joke had hit a nerve.
Alex just smirked and waved his hand.
“All right then. Good luck, Alpha.”
He and Emmett headed off, and once they were clear of the Quileute territory, Emmett couldn’t hold back his laughter any longer.
“Did you see his face?” he laughed. “His eye was twitching when you mentioned the lawns!”
“Yeah,” Alex smirked, pulling out his phone. “All right, time to tell Alice the newborns are taken care of.”
He called, and, unfortunately, heard that Alice, Rosalie, and Jane had also found a couple of bodies.
When Alex and Emmett returned home, the others were already gathered in the living room. Emmett, unable to contain himself, recounted everything that had happened—including Sam’s reaction to Alex’s joke. The Cullens laughed together, while Bella shook her head, unsure whether to laugh or be embarrassed for her friends.
Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, new bodies had been found. The number of victims had risen again. Realizing this, Charlie immediately ordered the search to be called off and the bodies brought to the hospital.
An hour later, as night had blanketed Forks in a thick fog, Donna stepped out of the sheriff’s office building. Her face was furrowed—fatigue and irritation mixed into an expression she knew all too well. She had been tracking these vampires since Stillwater, yet had never seen them in person. Only their bodies. Corpses. Over and over.
But with each new murder, her doubts grew. Something didn’t add up. The bodies weren’t just drained of blood—they had been mangled, as if torn apart by wild beasts. Vampires didn’t work like that.
Donna slid into her pickup, pulled her phone from the glove compartment, and dialed a familiar number. After a couple of rings, a sleepy but recognizable voice answered.
“Hello? Donna? What’s going on? Why are you calling so late?” Dean asked, and somewhere in the background, a beer bottle cap clicked.
“Hi, Dean,” Donna said, smiling though her voice betrayed her exhaustion. “Are you and Sam free? I could use some help.”
“We just got back… well, almost uneventfully,” Dean replied with a slight smirk in his voice. “So what’s going on? And where are you now?”
“Forks, Washington. A small town, but it seems there’s plenty of trouble. I’ve been tracking vampires all the way from Stillwater… but the more I see, the more I think they might not be vampires at all,” Donna said, her voice tinged with fatigue.
“Why do you think that? Hold on a sec…” Dean said, and a click sounded as the speakerphone was activated. “Okay, Sam’s on now too.”
“Hi, Donna,” Sam’s calm voice came through. “What have you found out?”
“All the bodies were drained and torn apart,” she began, glancing into the rearview mirror as if expecting to see something behind her. “But a couple of hours ago, new victims were found. They have bite marks on their necks… but not normal ones. It’s like someone tried to bite a chunk out of the throat, not just drink the blood.”
“Hm…” Sam murmured. “Sounds like ghouls. But they rarely migrate. Usually, they stay in one place, feed on corpses, and leave the living alone… unless hunger drives them.”
“That’s what I thought too,” Donna agreed.
“Alright,” Dean said after a short pause. “We’re on our way. Driving from Kansas isn’t exactly quick, but we’ll try to get there as soon as possible. If anything happens, call immediately, got it?”
“Understood. I’ll stay in touch,” she replied, exhaling with relief, and ended the call.
Putting the phone down, Donna started the engine and headed toward the motel where she had booked a room. Tomorrow would be a long day, and she knew she would likely get little to no sleep.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, Dean stared at his half-finished beer and let out a heavy sigh.
“Great, I was just about to relax,” he muttered. “I managed to sit for five whole minutes, and I didn’t even finish my beer.”
Sam smirked, setting his bag in the Impala’s trunk.
“You didn’t think they’d leave us alone for long, did you?”
“I was hoping,” Dean replied, slamming the trunk shut. “But I guess hope isn’t our strong suit, and I just wanted to eat some pie and drink my beer.”
They climbed into the car, the engine roared, and the black Impala tore off, disappearing into the darkness of the night highway.
Little did they know, in Forks they wouldn’t be facing just monsters… but someone who would turn their lives upside down. Or—make them even crazier.
To be continued…
(To hell with this day. I didn’t get anything done today. Not only did I oversleep, but I was completely swamped not only at work but also with household chores. Anyway, Dean and Sam will be here soon, yeah, we waited. I’m not sure how it will be yet. But it will be soon.)
