Chapter 137: [137] Two On One? Let’s Even The Odds

When Eliron stared up at the approaching glaive, he did not see the blade, nor did he see the aura that shimmered violently around it.

He did not notice the effort it took to pull off the skill, the sweat dripping from his body, nor the way the air fractured as it cut past it.

What he saw—

Was death.

Eliron immediately sent his mana spinning around his body in an overdrive. The glaive was too close to try and block it, not that he could even block the skill—

His structure was terrible… before he would right himself, it would be too late.

And so Eliron took a leap of faith.

What he needed was not the sword style, but the elusive nature of foot technique that accompanied it!

Eliron felt mana swell up in his feet, his heels feeling so hot that it was as though he was walking on hot coals.

But it was not enough!

’More! More!’

Eliron summoned more mana into his foot, until they were glowing a bright blue hue.

The glaive was just inches away from his face, the heat already causing blisters to form.

And then he vanished.

His body immediately distorted, moving so fast that the world around him blurred into light and shadows.

VWOOOSH!

Eliron barely escaped the strike. The whiplash and the residual energy slammed into him, burning right through his armour and searing his skin.

Blood gushed out of his nose just from being so close to the impact zone, and he was tossed to the side like a rag doll.

But only when he opened his eyes did he realise how lucky he had been.

A large crater had been formed in the direction of the strike, the hole so deep that you could fit a duplex into it.

The ground was blackened, the trees had been reduced to ash and the residual mana was heavy in the air.

Eliron smirked as he stood up…

Sometimes it was easy to forget these old fools had lived for centuries. Of course they would have an SSSR Skill or two in their arsenal.

He wiped the blood off his face and raised his sword.

By now, the saber was hanging on by a thread of its life. The steel was chipped in multiple locations, and the blade had grown dull.

Eliron let out a bitter laugh as he stared through the smoke, blood staining his face.

So this is how it felt to fight a high elf?! He had greatly underestimated their strength.

Through the smoke screen, Kyros’ eyes were glowing like ambers, the mana rolling out of his skin in waves.

Eliron took in a deep breath, then he screamed at the top of his voice.

“NOT BAD KYROS! COME NOW, THIS WILL BE OUR FINAL BOUT!”

“Ho?” Kyro’s amused voice came. “You managed to survive that? Deep is the depth of your insolence.”

WHOOSH!

In the blink of an eye, both Kyros and Cain were at both sides of Eliron, weapons cleaving through the air.

The two fighters were like a well oiled machine. It was as though they had fought for centuries side by side.

Eliron’s blocked Cain’s spiked ball, sparks gushing out as he leaned backwards to dodge the approaching glaive.

Then he sprang back up, swinging down at Kyro’s head.

But Cain was there to intercept him with his chain, after which the glaive emerged from just underneath his ear, nearly puncturing Eliron’s eye.

Eliron jumped back to distance himself from them, but long distance was where Cain shined.

He swung his chained mace around, the ball glowing with dark purple mana.

Clang— Clang!

The spiked ball raced towards Eliron’s abdomen, sending a gust of wind flying as it reached him.

Eliron deflected the blow with the flat side of his sword, sending the ball up, before closing the distance between them in a flash.

Cain’s eyes widened as Eliron’s sword came. But he could not do anything, he had put everything into that swing, and now the spiked ball was too far away, leaving him completely defenceless.

But just before Eliron could gut Cain like a fish, Kyros stepped right in front of him, his glaive gleaming like a hearth.

“Earth Formation, Seven Deadly Woes.”

Seven slashes suddenly erupted from his glaive, flying right at Eliron, each one strong enough to cleave through a mountain.

Kyros thought it was over…

But Eliron immediately grinded his feet to a halt, changing his stance in an instant, something no regular swordsman was capable of even imagining.

A smirk appeared on his face just as the slashes came.

“Phantom Step Sword Technique—Twisting Shadows.”

He closed his eyes…

And then just as the first strike came, Eliron’s body fizzled away, appearing at the other side as though he had teleported.

His feet were glowing, his eyes closed, his sword held high as he got a feel of his environment.

And then in the same manner he would vanish and reappear as the strikes came, completely evading every single one, the strikes destroying the forest behind him.

’How many techniques does this bastard have?!’ Kyros screamed internally.

He was from a remote shithole, yet he was showing off techniques only spoken of by martial masters!

Although he still seemed relatively new to them, his execution was more than enough to be concerning.

Kyros glanced at Cain, and gritted his teeth.

His son was a stellar warrior, but Kyros was sure that if it was only him, then he would be dead by now…

And although barely two hundred years old, Cain was a seasoned warrior.

Initially, Kyros thought of Eliron as nothing more than a nuisance, but now he was sure.

They could not let him live!

If he was to reach to full limits of his potential, he could single handedly wipe out the royal capital!

Just as Eliron dodged the last strike, Kyros and Cain were upon him, their weapons flashing.

But they slashed plain air, Eliron appearing behind them.

Then he opened his eyes? His sword coming down in one spotlessly clean arc—

Swish!

Blood gushed out like a fountain, Cain’s arm drifting into the air.

“ACKKKKHHHHHH!” Cain screamed, a soothing lullaby to Eliron’s ears.

“Cain!” Kyros shouted, his blood bubbling. “YOU BASTARD!”

Kyros’ glaive flared maliciously and he immediately spun, lashing out like a whip.

Eliron raised his sword just on time, balancing it with one hand behind the blade and the other on the hilt.

Yet it was not enough.

Boom!

He was tossed right into the forest, moving so fast that his body was slamming into tree after tree, blood gushing out of his body.

And then he finally crashed into a large rock, spittle gushing out of his mouth.

Whoosh!

The forest trees rattled as Kyros appeared in the air, a silhouette drifting down the pale moon’s glow.

The muscles on his arm contracted as he poured every single ounce of mana right into his glaive.

Runes suddenly appeared on the blade, the weapon vibrating in his grip. Bright orange, spiral mana encircled the glaive like a spring, and sparks erupted from the blade—

Just as he threw it.

The word slowed down, the entire forest silent as though to witness the end of a legend.

The glaive came down like a comet. No, it was more like a shooting star, one that was built for utter destruction.

“What will you do now, Elven Lord?! This is my greatest skill!”

“OBLIVION!”

It was a move the general had used to slay countless giants in the Great War.

The very skill that had earned him the title, Heaven’s Star.

Eliron’s sword fell from his grip as it came down.

He knew he could not dodge it, and so he did the only thing he could do at that moment.

Eliron smirked, blood drifting down his lips as he raised his hand at the calamity, a pale smile on his face as he pulled out the middle finger.

And pointed south…

BOOOM!

The ground was overturned, the entire plain turning into the makings of a disaster. Cracks filled the earth, the rocks underneath the soil forming a river of molten magma.

But Kyros was not looking at the scene.

He was not reveling in the destruction he had single handedly carried out. He was looking somewhere else.

The direction Eliron had pointed… at his son.

Cain was kneeling on the ground, holding his injured arm, his face pale from blood loss.

Kyros’ eyes widened as Eliron suddenly appeared right next to Cain, his sword raised high.

“Don’t tell me….”

The illusionary blade!

Eliron had never really left that position.

“DAMN YOU!!” Kyros screamed as he summoned his mana, increasing the speed of his descent.

Just so that he could reach his son.

“No, no, NO—!”

“Don’t you dare! You foul beast! Do you know who I am? I am Heaven’s Star! You will die for this! All your loved ones will perish in your arms! You will beg for mercy, but mercy will not find you!”

Kyros screamed out curses as he raced towards them.

Meanwhile, the Elven Lord walked up to Cain, sword in one hand, and a sharpened branch in the other.

He smiled down at the injured high elf, and the devil couldn’t be more proud of the look he had on his face as he lifted his sword high.

“What was it your old man said again? Ahh, I remember now.”

“Don’t try to block this.”

His blade flashed red.

“SSSR Skill— Heaven Rending Slash!”
