Theron speed walked up to her and smiled politely. “Hey… can I choose someone else?”

“Your reincarnation world has already been set, it is the novel you were reading when you died.” She said, ignoring him but smiling politely.

“There must be other angels right? More experienced people that will be actually of help…”

“You will only gain back your memories after 18 years…”

Theron paused and let out a grunt of approval.

The forest was on fire. The stench of death lingered in the air, like a miasma, corroding everything in sight.

Black smoke drifted into the sky, darkening even the already dark night, accompanied by screams that rose to the heavens above.

There were sounds of cracking wood as the fires consumed ancient houses that had stood for centuries, the metallic shrill of swords as they met elven flesh—

It was too late. His brother was long dead.

His eyes were glazed over with tears and soon, there were no more tears left to even shed.

The man in front of him had been the lord of the wood elves. And although they were weak, had given his life to protect them.

Now the responsibility fell on Eliron’s shoulders.

But he was weak. He was afraid. He was a disgrace to the elves.

He wept bitterly, cursing his own weakness. Deep inside him, he wanted to be more, he knew he should have been better than this!

And yet, things had still ended up this way.

The sounds of horses reached his ears as the mercenaries stopped in front of him.

“Hey look at that one over there. She’s a pretty girl, let’s take her with us.” Said one of the mercenaries, watching him with lecherous eyes.

Eliron crawled back, his eyes wide in fear.

“Wait, I think that is actually a boy!” Said the other man, his eyes displaying his shock.

“The hell? Hahahaha, why is he so slender?” He laughed.

Another mercenary, more composed than the others, jumped down from his horse, an evil smile on his face.

“The wood elves rarely have enough food for themselves, and their royalty eat last while the common folk eat first. That must be why he’s so thin.”

“Bwahahaha! What kind of logic is that?”

The composed man shrugged with indifference. “Kill him, those were our orders.”

“Ahh, come on boss, that won’t be any fun!”

As the mercenaries were discussing among each other, they failed to notice the change in the young elf.

Theron blinked, staring at his bloodstained hands.

’Where the hell am I?’

He glanced around, his eyes moving through the burning city, and settling on the mercenaries chatting in front of him.

Her silver shimmering hair was flowing behind her like a calm river, and her golden eyes were like embers as they reflected the fire of the burning village.

Even her slightest movements were graceful, and an air of perfection permeated the room at her arrival.

But to their surprise, she wrapped her arms around the slender elf’s neck and smiled.
