Chapter 39: [39] The Trap

Deep inside a dark cave, scratching sounds could be heard, the clang of metal meeting stone, reverberating out of the cave in echoes.

Normally, this should have attracted monsters, yet, not a single beast dared to step foot into the cave.

Swish swish!

Inside the cave, a woman was swinging around a sleek glaive, the weapon curling around her body with practiced ease.

Multiple scratches were left on the walls as she danced to the tune of battle, her body darting from place to place.

“It’s not enough!”

Boom!

A rock was cut cleanly out of its position, just before multiple slashes appeared on its frame, the rock shattering into a dozen pieces seconds later.

She pushed deeper into the cave. Sweat glistened her skin, her breathing erratic, both eyes, one the colour of the sky, the other like the sun, completely focused.

Deeper into the cave, there were multiple sharp crystals sticking out of the ceiling, restricting her movements and sharpened by time.

Just the slightest touch and her skin would come apart.

Yet she did not stop, neither did she slow down…

She manoeuvred through the tunnel of death, all while spinning her long glaive, and never once touching the ceiling.

And then when she got to the edge—

Whoosh!

A pulse of raw mana poured out of her skin, engulfing the cave in a tremorous explosion that shook it down to its very core.

The crystals shattered, scattering over the room like glass while she stood in the middle of the carnage, her eyes filled with rage.

“It’s not enough…” she muttered as she walked out of the cave with her glaive.

Sabrina took a narrow path in the forest and arrived in front of a large figure.

She took a moment to stare at the large corpse. Four twisted horns, blood shot eyes and body encased in spirit fire.

That was why it had once been, yet—

She stuck her glaive into its flesh, cutting off a chunk of meat.

Now it’s just dinner…

“Eliron…”

The leader of the wood elves, said to have received a divine ascension.

Her hands tightened by her sides.

’Enjoy what you have now.”

She bit into the meat, tearing off strips of flesh raw, and she turned back to the cave, leaving the dead monster behind.

A group of goblins were strolling through the forest, their crude weapons in hand.

Three of the goblins stood in front, the three leaders of the battalion, while a dozen other goblins trailed behind them.

Among the three leaders, one was holding a broken, rusted sword, another had a long stick, while the last one was with a decent short sword.

“Radha fansha mahita! Lestao, quote cheat!” The lead goblin said.

(And then I told that b**ch, bend over for daddy!)

“Argagagahahahahahagavaah!” The others burst out in laughter, barely containing themselves.

The lead goblin smiled smugly.

“Kunestas, brunotilata, kestevenag.” He said, nodding.

(Don’t worry, since you guys can’t pull any bit****, big bro is going to steal one for you.)

“Havyd tores, kapukaya!”

(I heard there was a new village over south, filled with those pale two legs!)

Another battalion, the scouting party, had gone a little farther than their usual jurisdiction recently and luckily enough, they found elves!

The group had taken them back to the camp, and very soon a raid party would be organised to storm the village.

Of course, as a battalion leader, he was sure to be invited as well. He smirked and folded his arms across his head, the thought of a future raid making him feel fuzzy inside.

Meanwhile, the other goblins grunted in annoyance before one spoke up. “Hutu, stalanta!”

(Those folks stink like leaves, disgusting!)

The lead goblin smacked his head and frowned. “Heye kiskotavah Ratana hita.”

(Goblin girls are expensive, you’ll go broke if you get one. Well, except you’re me of course!)

Then the lead goblin stopped, having arrived at the camp. He stared at the trees above, then frowned. “Nikita nikke?”

(Where is that oaf?)

He walked forward while scratching his belly, when suddnely—

Whoosh!

“Eeek!”

The goblin screamed as ropes suddenly wrapped themselves around him, hoisting him up into the sky.

His weapon slid out of his grip, falling to the ground.

The other goblins screamed as well, shocked by what had happened to him when all of a sudden, elves popped out of the forest like phantoms.

In their hands was a contraption they had never seen.

The goblins hurled curses at the elves, particularly at one of the female elves who held a white cross bow forward.

“Kitaka! Kitaka tontas!” The lead goblin screamed.

(Run, run you fools!)

But they did not listen, instead they charged at the female elf.

“Ew…” she sneered.

Bang!

The goblin’s head rocked back as multiple arrows suddenly appeared in its skull, shattering its head.

The other goblin paled, his stick falling from his hand as he turned to run, only to bump into a giant.

Bang!

Before it could even get up, its body was riddled with holes.

The other goblins spun into action, their weapons raised as they snarled with rage. But there was nothing they could do… it was an ambush.

A red haired elf cut through their formation with ease, her short sword ripping the lives of many with ease.

Beside her was a man who seemed to have a grudge against the goblins, his steely grey eyes sharp as he decimated them.

Worse of all, was the man who stood by the sidelines, a smile etched on his face as he watched the goblins fall.

The master mind behind their downfall.

Minutes later, the leader of the battalion stared down at what was left of his group in shock, his body shivering as he swallowed.

And then, the elf who had watched the carnage while smiling— a man with sky eyes and dark hair, walked towards him, the nasty smile still on his face.

The man licked his lips.

“Es el diablo!” The goblin screamed.

(It’s the devil!)

At first, the man looked very confused, then he let out a deranged laugh, one that chilled the goblin down to his very bones.

“Hahahahahaha!”

He pulled his long blue hair back and smiled. “En persona!” He spat.

(In the flesh!)

Then he turned to one of the elves.

“Strip him.”
