Chapter 44: Chapter 43: A Sparring Match

Kyle Zenith approached ber as his eyes bored holes through her being, an aura of hatred fuming out of his body as he stared her down.

He couldn’t allow Zoey to just come in and secure a spot into the Elite Rankings like that, not after all the work he had put in to secure the 10th position, as the other 9 were dominated by figures far more powerful than he was, most of them being A-Rank, his sister being one of them.

“You…” Kyle started, his voice send a chill down her spine, the anger and hatred flowing effortlessly towards her as she could feel the power radiating off his body. A crimson red aura engulfed him from head to toe, showing how powerful he was in comparison to herself as Zoey used “Mana Guage”, her chest clenching at the sight.

“Kyle Zenith…” Zoey grit her teeth, she knew who he was, his fame and accomplishments landed on her ears long before she became a Hunter. The “Dominator”, strongest B-Rank Hunter of Sunrow City.

He was well known for his crazy battle prowess, using Mage-Related abilties, and mixing them up with hand-to-hand combat. A professional martial artist, and a more professional Mage.

His Talent, [Dominating Wrath], allowed him to increase both his physical attributes, as well as magical ones, to extreme levels. His power was nothing to scoff at, as he could single handedly handle a B-Rank Dungeon on his own, and even sometimes went on hunts with other parties to clear A-Ranked Ones.

He was definetly someone not to be messed with.

’What does he want with me?’ Zoey couldn’t help but think, but still, she refused to submit to anybody, and definetly not this guy.

“What do you want?” Zoey asked bluntly, her tone a bit defiant, but strong willed nonetheless.

Kyle’s gaze intensified, he could tell something was far different about her, that something about her was wrong. The aura around her….was strong, and far stronger than a mere D-Rank. This girl was definetly the peak of C-Rank….if not higher.

’What the hell? How can she level up so quickly?’ Kyle thought with a grit of his teeth, he was a pretty high level himself, but somehow, it felt like this girl was rapidly catching up to him.

’I can tell how she easily defeated that C-Rank Mage, she’s definetly got power alright. But I still have to test her myself, to see whether she truly belongs here in the Elite Rankings.’ He thought, before turning around, confusing Zoey a bit.

“Meet me in the Advanced Training Facility #277, we need to have a quick sparring match.” He said bluntly, walking off a bit, before coming to a stop, “And don’t keep me waiting.” He ordered, his tone sending shivers down the spines of every Hunter that stood still to watch the exchange between them, as they watched him walked away.

Not before long after he dissapeared, whispers broke out like a forest fire, all eyes on Zoey as the Hunters around her looked at her curiously.

“The Dominator wants to spar with her? Why would he do something like that?”

“Did Zoey do something to upset him?, he never speaks so threateningly.”

“Something’s going on…and I’m not sure I wanna know what, but I can’t help but feel a bit curious.”

’Damn it…looks like I have no choice.’ Zoey thought as she sighed, running a hand through her hair. She decided that she will quickly go see Kyle, she turned to the agents that had accompanied her before and told them to tell Sarina that she’ll be arriving soon, before walking off towards the Advanced Training Facilities.

A sleek metallic door slid open as Zoey entered the Advanced Training Facility #277, the inside of the room was like the previous Training Facilities she had fought the C-Rank Ice Mage in. However, this one was way bigger, as this entire room was the Combat Training Sector.

At the far ends of the Combat Training Sector, was another sleek metallic door that led to another room suited to train Hunters. In the middle of the room stood Kyle, he wore a white tank top and black shorts, as well as black sneakers.

His entire body was adorned with muscle, his silver hair and golden eyes making him look far more handsome and dashing.

“There you are.” Kyle said with a slightly irritated tone, stretching his muscles. “Word of you joining the Elite Rankings has reached my ears, Monroe.” Kyle continued, his gaze turning into that of envy and hatred.

“Yeah? And what about it?” Zoey asked, her body tense. She could feel the murderous aura radiating from him, and it spoke bounds of his emotions, as she could tell that he definetly wasn’t happy. Not in the slightest.

“Do you know something? I had worked so hard during my time spent here at the guild, taking on mission after mission, plunging into dungeons in and out, all as an attempt to catch up to my sister who became an Elite Hunter in the guild.

And after so much hard work, blood, sweat, and tears, I’ve finally became apart of the Elite Rankings, my power making me the strongest B-Rank Hunter in Sunrow.” He paused, letting Zoey take in his words for a moment before continuing.

“And yet, after all this time. I couldn’t catch up her, she’s too strong. Physically and magically, she beats me in every way. I was so frustrated, but later came to accept it, as she was a genius after all. I still hate it, being weaker than her, but what can I do? Beat her up? I tried that, and got my ass handed to me every single time.” He stopped again for a moment, before letting out a bitter laugh.

’If someone’s Talent is higher than yours, on top of being a genius in every aspect, and continuing to grow, there’s nothing you can do.

Those with Talents rule, they are considered geniuses, and upon awakening higher level Talents, your potential as a Hunter naturally skyrockets.’ Zoey thougnt, sighing slightly.

“And now, you come along. Your A+Ranked Talent got you into our guild effortlessly, into our Elite Rankings effortlessly, while I had to suffer and start from a much lower position, and desperately crawl to the point where I’m standing now. That’s bullshit, and I don’t accept that.” He said as he cracked his knuckles, the aura around him intensifying as a small golden glow covered his body.

’Damn it…’ Zoey thought, ’So he just wants to beat me up, “Sparring Match” my ass. I need to give everything I got to last against this guy.’ Zoey thought, taking a deep breath as she activated both [Hardened Will] and [King’s Fury], her body glowing with so much power that even left Kyle suprised.

“What…the…” He couldn’t help but mutter as he felt the dramatic increase in Zoey’s power, as he knew already that she had used some Physical Enhancement Skills, but to have them at such a proficiency early on was even more mind blowing.

“Hehe…hahaha!” Kyle couldn’t help but let out an excited laugh as his eyes gleamed dangerously, his figure taking slow and confident steps toward Zoey, like a Hunter sizing up it’s prey.

However, before he could continue taking more steps forward, he felt the dominant stare of his sister staring him down. He quickly glanced toward the entrance of the room, to see her leaning beside it, her arms crossed and her gaze sharp, eyeing him down as without words, he knew that he couldn’t beat up Zoey as much as he wanted to, as she basically told him through her eyes alone, not to gravely injure her.

“I’ll be spectating his sparring match, you may use nothing but hand-to-hand combat for this exercise. No weapons or special items are allowed to be used, except Skills and Talents.

You’re not allowed to gravely injure each other, once an opponent can’t continue, the sparring match will be concluded. Am I clear?” Mira asked, tilting her head slightly as her aura alone nearly suffocated the life out of Kyle, forcing him to nod slightly.

’So that’s his sister…’ Zoey thought as she glanced back at Mira, seeing the resemblance between the two. The aura she exuded was nothing short of terrifying, adding onto that, the way she entered the room without making a sound or hiding her presence so perfectly that nobody could sense her, was highly off the charts.

Zoey’s thoughts were interrupted as Kyle’s figure moved like a blur, instantly appearing before her. She barely had time to reach, as a strong punch was aimed at her face, a glowing golden energy radiating from it.

’Gah!’ Zoey grunted as a massive wave of pain landed on her arm, which she used to block the attack. However, the power behind the attack was too much, as it sent her flying a few metres back, tumbling in the air before landing on her feet, sliding on the ground from the friction.

’Damn…he’s strong. This is going to be a challenge.’ Zoey thought, shaking off the throbbing pain in her arms as she stood tall. Her arms by her sides, while the crimson glow around her intensified. Her power soaring.
