Chapter 92: Chapter 91: The Captain’s Change
The Devouring Shark immediately became paralyzed, it’s body refusing to move as the [Venom Punisher] lodged deep inside it, it’s body beginning to bleed profusely as the dangerous poison invaded it’s very being.
“HAAH!” Zoey roared as she drove the spear deeper, stabbing it right through the Devouring Shark as the monster continued to be utterly helpless and paralyzed, blood pouring from it’s wounds and eyes at a rapid rate.
With a swift spin, Zoey removed the spear and delivered a strong kick to the Devouring Shark, sending it flying across the ocean with her insane strength, watching it crash hard onto the sea with a thunderous impact.
’I’m not done with you yet!’ Zoey thought, storing her [Venom Punisher] as she took out the badly damaged [Volt Requiem], and pointed it’s chipped edge at the Devouring Shark’s paralyzed body.
Bzzrt!!
A powerful bolt of lightning blasted from [Volt Requiem], pushing Zoey back a bit from it’s powerful recoil as it travelled towards the Devouring Shark and violently electrocuted it.
The Devouring Shark roared in excesive pain, but it couldn’t move it’s body one bit as lightning danced all around it, the pain unbearable and it’s injuries starting to get the best of it.
With a final, low and weak roar, the Devouring Shark was killed, it’s body going limp above the sea bed, evaporating in golden shimmering particles.
’It’s dead, good.’ Zoey thought, falling into the waters as she obserbed the Devouring Shark for a moment.
The beast could’ve spelled her death if she wasn’t fast enough in getting rid of it, and she was really proud of herself for being able to pull of such a feat, knocking the beast out of the water, just to kill it while mid air.
’I can’t use this sword anymore…I need to seriously get it repaired.’ Zoey thought, looking at the cracked and awfully chipped [Volt Requiem] Sword, a slightly dissapointed sigh escaping her lips.
“Captain!” Evan’s voice caught her attention, as right beside her a large strand of rope was thrown next to her.
Zoey looked at the rope as she grabbed onto it and allowed herself to be pulled towards the ship, climbing it with the help of her crewmates.
Zoey stepped onto the dock of her ship as she let out a bit of a breather, looking at her soaking wet clothes. She was undeniably very uncomfortable in this situation, but thankfully, Felicia wore all black, and that would cover any accidents from being seen.
“Are you allright captain? Did you get hurt anywhere?” Evan asked, his voice full of concern as he observed her body for any signs of wounds.
“I’m fine, don’t worry about me. Rather,” Zoey looked at wet her clothing, her face cringing in slight disgust as she still found it rather uncomfortable as heck.
“I’m going to get changed, Evan, do you mind sailing the ship for a bit?” Zoey asked, raising a brow.
Evan blinked, a bit suprised, but he quickly nodded. “Of course! Leave it to me captain!” Evan stated, his tone full of determination.
“Alright,” Zoey said, walking away as she made her way to her personal cabin.
As soon as she was out of sight, the pirates immediately returned to working, returning to their positions.
The dead bodies of their comrades were wrapped up, the air around feeling dark and heavy with the sense of loss.
So much had happened in such a short time, first was the treasure of the [Hydra’s Tear] which they had finally found, then there was the attack from Thunder Hook, and now a Devouring Shark almost sunk them beneath the ocean, if it wasn’t for captain Felicia.
“Those bastards are going to be looking for us now, they probably heard the rumors of the [Hydra’s Tear] being found. It’s going to make it a pain in the ass to get to Vedrynn now, I have a feeling we’ll meet some of our ocean sailing friends once we get there.”
A pirate said, scoffing out of frustration from the recent events, looking over at the distant Thunder Hook’s ship that continued to sink, almost being completely submerged under the ocean.
“We’ve spent weeks looking for this treasure, going through hell and back, we won’t let these sea bastards take it from us, not when we’re so close to assembling all the pieces to unlocking Larcov’s Temple!” Evan replied, steeting the ship as he navigated the rough waters.
“Tell me, Evan, have you noticed it?” The pirate asked, climbing up to the dock where Evan was steering the ship, sitting on one of the guard rails.
“Noticed what?” Evan asked, raising a brow but not taking his eyes away from the journey.
“Our captain?” The pirate continued.
“What about her?” Evan asked, becoming intrigued.
“She seems different, no? Her strength wasn’t that much a while ago. Plus, she should’ve been critically injured when she received that shot from one of Thunder Hook’s cannons.”
Evan thought about it for a moment. He was right, their captain was acting incredibly strange. Besides her absurd power and dominant cruelty, the way she spoke also seemed different, more formal, and less pirate-y.
“You’re right, but we can’t be certain. Maybe the captain’s just in a bad mood after what just happened.
We’ve suffered some heavy damage, and the ship is going to need to be repaired before we could consider going to Vedrynn, so we’re going to have to make a stop at one of the local towns for a short while.” Evan said, sighing slightly.
“Maybe, but I wouldn’t bet my neck on it. She feels different, almost as if she’s been possessed entirely. I can’t help but feel this sharp…chill when I’m near her, it’s almost as if she would kill me if I were to do something stupid.”
——–
“…” Zoey sat on her desk inside the captain’s office in complete silence, her face full of disbelief and slight annoyance.
“Am I that scary?” Zoey asked herself, playfully scoffing as she grinned at the thought.
