Chapter 76: Chapter 75: The Final Slash

Zoey leaped off the ground with a spinning twirl as she delivered a multitude of slashes at the enemy, cutting at it with sharp attacks that dealt more damage than before, thanks to the effects of her Beserk State and the multitude of skills she was having active.

The battle was fierce, a fierce fight over dominance as both Zoey and the zombie boss gave it their all, fighting with all they had. Their figures became fast movements of blurry action, disappearing from one spot to the next, swords flashing, cries echoing through the air.

“Hahahaha!” Zoey laughed like a maniac, dodging an attack from the zombie boss, feeling the air rush past her like a storm, hitting the ground and causing a massive crack to appear.

Her confidence was now skyrocketed, her thrill for battle overwhelmed reason, as she was truly experiencing joy in the fire of the battle.

“I seriously need to get this…skill under control.” Zoey said, restraining herself as she swung, her sword flashing as she delivered a slash to the beast, pushing it back, before assaulting it with a flurry of slashes.

The beast roared in pain, slapping at her with it’s massive hands as if she were a fly. Zoey quickly moved back to avoid the attack, but the beast wasn’t done just yet, as it let out a fearsome roar that sent forth a powerful force of air towards her.

The air was quick, powerful and terrifying as she ground beneath it broke as it quickly approached Zoey, striking her hard as she didn’t have time to avoid the attack, barely managing to somewhat block the attack as she was flung away.

Zoey landed on the ground with a heavy crash, coughing a bit. The beast still had some tricks up it’s sleeve, and Zoey quickly had to adapt to it’s attacks if she wanted to overcome it.

’That was unexpected, I really need to react faster next ti-’ Before she could finish her thought, the giant appeared infront of her and slammed it’s fist into her with gruesome strength, blood spurting from her mouth as the force of the blow was unlike anything she had manage to tank before.

’Damn….’ Zoey thought, lying underneath the broken ground, her hand raised above her as the pieces of a [Stone Carved Shield] slowly crumbled and fell flat on her face.

The zombie roared as it struck once more, but Zoey reacted again and quickly took out another [Stone Carved Shield], blocking the attack as her form was pushed down even deeper, the earth cracking with every hit the giant landed.

’I need to counter…cough…attack!’ Zoey thought, her arms throbbing with pain, so much, that she thought that it would break with the next attack the zombie was going to land, but she wasn’t going to allow that.

Just as the beast raised it’s arm to attack once more, Zoey quickly cast [Fireball], followed by [Armour Weathering], the beast was caught off guard as the two Skills struck it instantaneously.

The [Fireball] struck it’s face, exploding with fire and smoke as it obscured it’s vision, and the [Armour Weathering] took down the crazy defense the monster had, lowering it to make it more vulnerable to damage.

Zoey immediately took this opportunity to counterattack, using her [Grace Of The Wind] Skill to boost herself out from the earth prison beneath her, as she immediately flew into the air high above the beast, catching her breath for a moment.

The zombie shook off the smoke with an enraged roar, it’s aura flaring up once more as it gazed up at Zoey with rage-filled eyes, but in the next instant, it’s face was met with lightning.

CRASH!!!

BOOM!!!

The bolt of lightning struck the beast hard, sparks flying everywhere as a thundershocked explosion rangout.

Zoey landed on the ground gracefully, observing the beast as the smoke surrounded it.

She knew that the beast wouldn’t go down so easily, especially now that it was buffed by the effects of it’s Beserk status.

The beast was B-Rank when she had first fought it, it was similar in strength to when Kyle Zenith had sparred with her, but even then he was holding back extremely.

If Kyle had actually gone all out, she knew for sure that she wouldn’t have survived that long against him, he was the strongest B-Rank Hunter after all.

But the beast now, enhanced by the Berserk effects, was an even stronger monster, one that sent chills down her spine, but she had to overcome it’s strength with her own, she wouldn’t dare lose to such a beast. She would make sure of that.

The zombie dashed from the smoke, rapidly approaching her. Zoey readied herself, her aura flaring up as she dodged an attack, leaping to the side to avoid the crushing blow. She moved, quick, striking it hard in it’s side.

With it’s defence lowered, she could inflict more damage, and bring it down faster.

The beast grunted in pain, feeling the blade penetrate it’s flesh and causing a deep wound.

The beast grabbed the blade, holding Zoey in place as to prevent her from withdrawing it, surprising her as her eyes widened in shock.

’It caught it!?’ Zoey thought in disbelief, before dodging an attack from the beast, having to leap away and leave her sword in it’s side.

The beast roared as it stabbed it’s hands into the earth, pulling out a large chunk of earth and rock, raising it above it’s head.

Zoey immediately became alarmed at the sight, looking up at the rock that loomed dangerously above the beast.

The beast threw the rock at Zoey, and she quickly avoided it by running from it.

’I can’t attack that beast with just my hands, I don’t want to risk it biting my arms off.’ Zoey thought, dashing away to buy herself time.

[Time Remaining: 00 Hours, 07 Minutes, 27 Seconds]

’The timer is almost up, there’s really no point in fighting the beast any longer. But If I just let it stay after the Apocalpyse ends, it will just kill these helpless people, and I wouldn’t want that.’

Zoey thought, looking back at the beast that was starting to chase her with narrowed eyes.

She wasn’t running out of cowardice, rather it was to buy enough time for her [Grace Of The Wind] Skill to wear off, as after using it she had wait a 30 second cooldown.

The beast chased her, attacking her as it punched her and missed with every blow.

The earth cracked with every strike of the beast, Zoey’s figure leaped from side to side to avoid the attacks, her Stamina wearing thin, her Mana near it’s limit.

Immediately after the cooldown was over for her skill, Zoey took a deep breath as she closed her eyes in deep concentration, the world around her blacking.

Her senses spiked, her [Heightened Senses] Talent activating as her senses were pushed to their peak, granting her superhuman reflexes.

She immediately opened her eyes, leaning to the side as she dodged a powerful block from the beast.

A powerful gust of wind appearing beneath the soles of her feet, as she blasted towards her [Volt Requiem] sword that was still stuck in the side of the beast, grabbing it as she spun on her heal, facing the beast.

[Mana: 9%]

[Stamina: 5%]

“Huff…huff…I’ve reached my limit, I can’t keep going.” Zoey panted, holding herself up with the support of [Volt Requiem]. Her stamina was insanely low, she couldn’t keep prolonging the battle, she needed to finish the fight now.

“One…final….attack.” Zoey thought, grabbing her sword and standing in a sword position, exhaling sharply as her eyes shone with fierce determination, her aura flaring up one last time.

The beast charged, appearing infront of her like a storm. It’s roar echoed, it’s fist raised high, it’s green murky skin adorned with cuts and bruises all over, yet the beasts still raged, it’s eyes glowing a demonic crimson.

Time slowed down around them as both charged at each other, the tension as thick as it was suffocating. One wrong move, and it was over.

Zoey leaped towards the fist, but as the fist neared to strike her, she twisted her body mid air, avoiding the blow of the zombie.

Landing swiftly on it’s arm, Zoey took her stance once more, drew her sword back, before dissapearing from her position.

SLASHHHH!!!

The head of the zombie was cut off cleanly, her figure appearing right behind the behemoth as she had dealt the final attack.

Her face flashed full of determination as she flew in the air, but just then, a horrible pain struck her body like lightning, causing her to wince and grit her teeth.

’I’m tired…’ Zoey thought, landing on the ground like a ragdoll, her face falling onto the harsh ground as her entire body went limb.

Her entire body throbbed with pain, she couldn’t move a muscle, breathing was incredibly difficult, and her Mana too had reached it’s limits as well.

[Time Remaining: 00 Hours, 02 Minutes, 03 Seconds]

The crimson luminous panel flashed before her eyes, but she could barely see it, thanks to the darkness surrounding her eyelids as they felt heavier than ever.

Zoey finally passed out from the weight of the battle, darkness engulfing her vision.

The restless nights, the constant fighting, it was finally over, as she could finally rest.
