Chapter 79: Chapter 78: Training The New Generation

Outside of the mansion, inside the courtyard, many people stood gathered, neatly lined in rows.

Infront of these people, stood Zoey, tall and imposing, with her arms behind her back, and her newly found [Venom Punisher] Spear lodged onto her back, pulsing with a sickly green glow.

“Thank you all for coming out here today, I understand that many of you must be confused by the events that had recently occurred today, but don’t worry, I’ll be here to make everything clear.” Zoey said, her voice firm.

“The strange feeling in your bodies, is an energy known as Mana. It’s the fuel source for all the powers special individuals known as Awakeners(Hunters) use.

The screen you all see is no hallucination, that is proof that each of you are Awakeners, and have a very important role to play in the destiny of this world as we know it.”

Zoey stopped for a moment, letting her words register in the minds of the people for a moment.

Many confused murmurs floated around the people as people whispered to each other.

’The world will need Hunters to keep it safe, otherwise, another Apocalypse will just descend soon if more Dungeons continue to break.

I don’t even want to imagine the posibility of an A-Rank/S-Rank Dungeon breaking, sigh.’ Zoey thought, shaking her head to herself.

“The swirling portals, you’ve all seen them before, haven’t you? Those are known as Dungeons.

These are gates that connect our world to another one, filled with monsters and horrors that will be able to break out if the Dungeon isn’t cleared within 7 days.

In other words, another Apocalypse will descend if there are no Awakeners to deal with the Dungeons, that’s why many of you are very important.

The Dungeons, while horrific, can offer a bountiful amount of treasures if one is lucky to secure a Drop.”

Zoey took off the spear from her back, she held it high in the air, before slamming it hard onto the ground, causing a huge crack to appear and strong shockwave to spread out.

The people were suprised as they felt the shocks of the shockwaves, being pushed back a bit with a few tripping over. The people stared at Zoey with wide eyes.

“This is an example of a Drop you can obtain inside Dungeons.

These weapons are powerful and have special effects that make them even deadlier, as many of you have observed, normal weapons such as guns, knives, or anything man-made won’t be very effective against strong monsters of D-Rank, becoming completely useless when facing C-Rank monsters.”

A hand shot up from the crowd, as cute Celina was the one who raised it. She was standing at the very front of her row, as she was the strongest Hunter besides Zoey here, the only one among everyone with a C-Rank Talent.

“Ms. Zoey, could you explain the concept of these monsters, and how they are ranked?” Celina asked.

Zoey nodded, “The monsters are beings constructed from the Mana inside their respective Dungeons, unless a Dungeon Break occurs, they aren’t able to leave their dungeons, it’s sort of a prison for them.

And for the ranks, there are 8 Ranks in total, but they can be classified in three Major Ranking systems. The first one is the Lower Rankings, these include Hunters that are F-Rank, E-Rank, and D-Rank.

F-Rank is the weakest of Hunters, and the starting point of all Hunters. All of you gathered here are F-Rank, but you all have the ability to grow stronger, and with enough time, you’ll be able to reach a strength comparable to mine.”

Zoey grinned, observing the suprised and excited faces of the Hunters. Celina and Lana practically had stars shining in their eyes as they looked at Zoey, the thought of being able to reach her level was astounding to them.

“Continuing, the next Major Ranking is the High-rankings. These are Hunters of C-Rank, and B-Rank, I happen to be a B-Rank Hunter, so I’m fairly strong right now.

The last Major Ranking is Ascendant-Rankings, these include Hunters of A-Rank, S-Rank, and lastly SS-Rank, these are the strongest Hunters.”

Another hand shot up in the crowd, it was a man that was one of the guards who defended the mansion.

“How do we get stronger?”

Zoey started to explain the concept of Levels, Health, Mana, and Stat Points. She explained how to properly allocate ones stats, depending on which role they were leaning to.

She explained the roles of Damage Dealers, Tanks, Healers, Mages, and more. After explaining everything the Hunters needed to know, the Hunters got a good grasp of their purpose as they even got adjusted to the Status Window in their eyes.

Zoey smiled as she looked at the Hunters which were happily chatting among themselves as they felt extremely excited and full of purpose.

“Now then, before we can get straight to raiding Dungeons, you all need to get trained first. Without proper combat experience and physical training, you’ll be killed inside the Dungeons.”

Zoey said, looking away a bit as she literally went into a Dungeon with no combat experience, training, and equipment, she was only armed with a goddamn kitchen knife.

“Follow me, your training starts now. We’re going on a jog.” Zoey said.

The people stood there for a moment, a bit unsure on whether to start running or not. Zoey’s expression became serious and full of bloodlust as her eyes glowed a deadly crimson, her aura flaring up as the air became as cold as ice.

“Get. Moving.” Zoey uttered the simple command, and immediately they started to run, out of the gates and into the outside field.

Zoey smiled as she watched the people pass her and begin to run, she too started to jog as she didn’t run with them, but beside them to keep track of them and keep them in order.

“This exercise will be one of many that I will rank you all with. We’ll be ranking you all based on Strength, Stamina, Mana, and Combat Experience.” Zoey said as she ran beside them, as they all yelled “Yes Miss!”

Celina was automatically ranked to be No.1 as she will be leading the ranks lower than her, as she was way further ahead than everyone else, the guards that fought against the zombies right behind her as they had strong stamina prior to their Awakening, which was a great start.

Celina’s Talent [Rabbit’s Gift], was a Talent that increases her Stamina and movement speed by 50% as a passive effect, and 100% as a 5 minute active ability.

Her growth rate would be far higher than everyone else’s, as she was the only one with a Talent besides Zoey here.

They ran for minutes, and everyone that hadn’t done much exercises were suprised by their stamina as they could never jog so long without becoming tired quickly, as they jogged for 10-20 minutes straight.

Zoey observed the people closely as they jogged, the people at the very back started to pant and could barely gasp for air as they jogged, these people had terrible stamina even after Awakening, so they were going to be ranked last.

The people in the middle were still holding alright, as they were starting to sweat a bit, but were still doing good, so these people were going to be ranked second, as they will be capable of fighting on the front lines to assist party leaders.

Celina, Devon, and a few other men were the only ones at the very front, and they didn’t look tired at all, especially Celina, as she looked like she was having a blast.

They ran for a few more minutes before stopping, as Zoey clapped her hands in approval, congratulating them.

“Congratulations! The majority of you have good stamina, while a few of you are excellent in your field. The who were at the very front, great job! The ones who were at the very back….” Zoey’s eyes lit up with a crimson fury.

“We’re going to have to work on that, is that clear?” She asked, her voice cold and full of death. She received fast nods of fear, a small grin forming on her face.

“We’re not done yet, now, we’ll be moving onto physical strength. This will determine our Damage Dealers.” Zoey said, clapping her hands to initiate the training.

“Pushups, now.”

Everyone immediately got into position as they started to do pushups, again, everyone was doing well at first, going at the same pace because of the strength they received from their Awakening.

Both man and women were subjected to the training, as Zoey wouldn’t want it otherwise. Celina and Lana had no complaints, as they too, despite being very young, started to do pushups.

As the seconds dragged on, many people eventually hit their limit upon doing 10-20 Pushups, as expected, these were the people who had terrible stamina.

Zoey looked at them displeased, their potential seemed grim, and she wondered whether or not they would even be suitable to raid a dungeon yet, or whether they needed to train for a long time first.

’Other than that, that kid is going crazy, haha.’ Zoey thought, looking at the people who were doing the pushups. They were already at 30-40 Pushups, as the guards were easily crushing the competition.

Lana had to tap out early, as she met her limit at 25 Pushups, which was better than the ones who had low stamina, so Zoey kept her in regard.

Celina however, was able to keep up with the guards, her expression showed full determination and a unbreakable will, a proud grin forming on Zoey’s face.

’Looks like someone awakened as a peak F-Ranker.’ She thought, watching her continue to shred through the training.
