The next day, the Cathedral of the Demon Capital stood bathed in prismatic light.

Massive stained-glass panels high above filtered the morning sun into cascading rivers of crimson, violet, and molten gold that spilled across the polished obsidian floor like living paint.

Jax was standing near the central aisle, waiting for Astra to arrive for their date, and for today, he wasn’t wearing his Demon Emperor Combat Set.

“Isn’t that exactly what we’re doing together,” Jax asked, and Astra blanked for a moment, leaving Jax to chuckle.

Crowds filled the grand avenues.

Merchants shouted over one another. Street performers drew circles of cheering onlookers. Children, horned, winged, scaled, or some mixture of all three, ran between adults carrying sweets that glowed faintly with edible mana crystals.

Astra slowed almost immediately. Her head turned constantly, eyes wide, absorbing everything.

“Wow they’re all sooo… happy,” she said softly.

Jax walked beside her at an unhurried pace, “Of course, with our recent victories, there’s been a big improvement in morale. Plus quality of life has improved a-lot, so everything’s going well,”

They stopped at a vendor stall overflowing with carved crystal charms that hummed faintly when touched. Each one contained compressed elemental resonance—tiny bottled phenomena captured in geometric form.

Astra picked one up that contained swirling silver mist.

“What does this do?”

The merchant leaned forward eagerly. “Wind memory charm! Stores the sound of any breeze it touches. Release it later and hear that exact wind again.”

Astra’s eyes lit up, “That’s amazing.”

Jax paid before she even asked.

She stared at him. “You didn’t bargain.”

“There was no need.”

She turned the charm in her fingers, listening as faint whispering currents echoed from within.

Further along, they watched a performance staged in an open plaza carved directly into a descending amphitheater.

Illusionists projected massive spectral beasts into the air, recreations of ancient battles between primordial demons and celestial entities. Firestorms roared silently. Phantom wings beat against simulated thunderclouds. The audience gasped and applauded with every dramatic shift.

Astra leaned forward slightly, completely absorbed.

“That one’s anatomically wrong,” she whispered during a dragon projection. “Wing joint articulation doesn’t support that angle of lift.”

Jax glanced at her, “Would you like to demonstrate the correct motion?”

She grinned slowly, confident in her abilities.

Then a tiny, harmless arc of violet lightning danced between her fingers and flicked upward. The illusion dragon’s wings subtly corrected, moving with proper structural physics.

The illusionist paused mid-performance, blinking in confusion, then rolled with it dramatically. The crowd roared louder.

Astra covered her mouth, laughing quietly.

They climbed a high observation terrace overlooking the entire capital.

From here, the rail networks looked like streams of molten light threading through the city. Tower spires rose like jagged mountain peaks. Far above, the rotating defensive sigils shimmered like layered constellations.

Wind rushed freely at this height.

Astra stepped to the edge and closed her eyes.

Her hair lifted. Her shoulders relaxed.

“This…” she whispered, “is perfect.”

Jax stood beside her.

“For what it’s worth,” she said without opening her eyes, “I’m seriously impressed, the Goddesses didn’t choose incorrectly,”

“Thanks,” Jax muttered as wind curled around them both.

They sampled festival foods from open-air stalls, smoked mana-infused meats that crackled faintly when bitten, crystallized nectar shards that dissolved into warm energy, spiral pastries filled with condensed elemental essence that shifted flavor with each chew.

Astra insisted on trying everything and she rated them loudly and dramatically.

“This one tastes like lightning!” Astra said.

“That is because it contains lightning from a Thunder Boar,” Jax said.

“I love it, the meat is so chewy too,” Astra responded.

At one point, they encountered a troupe of aerial dancers suspended by thin threads of anti-gravity enchantment. The performers twisted through the air in slow spirals, leaving trails of glowing particles that lingered like drifting constellations.

Astra watched silently.

Then, very quietly, she lifted one finger.

A faint current of natural wind joined the artificial lift—so subtle no one noticed. But the dancers’ motions became smoother… more fluid… more alive.

They walked for hours.

Through artisan districts filled with metalwork that sang when struck. Through garden terraces where bioluminescent flora pulsed in rhythm with heartbeats. Through narrow elevated bridges that connected spires far above ground level.

They spoke intermittently about alot of things, and before they new it, it was sunset, and the sky was now burning deep crimson and violet.

Lanterns ignited across the entire capital simultaneously, floating upward like a slow-rising galaxy of fire.

Astra stood very still, watching them ascend.

“…I’m glad I asked for this,” she said.
