Chapter 179: Kingdom of Lumeria!

As Jax teleported, the world around him folded.

To anyone watching the quiet street outside the estate in Aeternum Noctis, nothing happened. One moment a lone traveler walked along the stone path, and the next moment that traveler simply wasn’t there anymore.

But across the continent, reality bent once again and a ripple of distorted space appeared far beyond the borders of the Demon Kingdom, deep within the territory of mankind, The Kingdom of Lumeria.

More specifically, its capital. Jax stepped out of the distortion as if walking through an invisible doorway, and immediately felt massive differences compared to the Demon Kingdom.

First up, the air around him was very different, much warmer, and it was also saturated with a faint but unmistakable divine presence coming from Goddess Kayle.

Jax found himself standing in the shadow of a narrow alleyway between two stone buildings, his boots touching the ground silently.

For a brief moment his true form existed there, tall, imposing, demonic mana swirling faintly around him.

Then the illusion took hold. His golden eyes dulled into a calm brown, his demonic aura vanished entirely, his hair darkened slightly and his presence softened.

Within seconds he looked like nothing more than a tall human traveler in simple clothes.

Jax stepped out of the alley and into the street.

The capital of Lumeria was already alive with activity.

Wide stone roads stretched between tall white buildings decorated with banners of gold and silver. Merchant stalls lined the sides of the streets selling food, cloth, tools, and holy trinkets.

Human civilians filled the city. He could see farmers, merchants, travellers, and even combat professions, like Priests and Knights.

And everywhere Jax looked he saw symbols of the Church.

Large banners bearing the radiant crest of the Goddess of Light fluttered from towers. Stone statues stood at nearly every major intersection.

Her statues towered over the streets like silent guardians. Some depicted her holding a radiant sword while others showed her raising a hand in blessing.

Jax walked past one such statue in the center of a plaza.

It was easily thirty feet tall.

Dozens of civilians stood around its base, some kneeling in prayer. A priest in white robes stood on a raised platform beside the statue, speaking loudly to the gathered crowd.

“Have faith, brothers and sisters!”

His voice echoed through the plaza.

“The Goddess watches over us!”

Several people murmured prayers in response.

“The Demon King’s darkness spreads across the world,” the priest continued, his voice rising dramatically, “But the light of the Goddess will prevail!”

A woman near Jax clasped her hands together tightly.

“Our heroes will defeat him,” she whispered.

Another man nodded firmly, “They’ve already destroyed multiple demon armies and taken over key territories, our complete victory will soon be confirmed,”

Jax walked slowly past them, listening.

“The Goddess chose them personally.”

“They carry divine power.”

“They’ll bring peace back to the world.”

He kept his expression neutral, but inside, he was already analyzing everything.

The propaganda was obvious.

Every conversation he overheard carried the same tone, unshakeable confidence and faith. Everyone had absolute belief in the Church and the heroes.

But the consistency of it also revealed something else, information control.

As Jax continued walking through the streets, he noticed something interesting.

Every public message was the same. The heroes were strong. The war was going well. The Demon King was evil and victory was inevitable.

There were no dissenting voices or any public doubts. No discussions of the losses or Alexi & Natasha who had been captured by him.

Which meant one thing. Negative information was being completely suppressed.

Jax turned down another street. This one led toward a massive structure dominating the skyline.

The Grand Cathedral of Lumeria.

It was enormous. White marble towers stretched high into the sky, their tips glowing faintly with golden divine magic.

Stained glass windows depicting heroic battles lined the outer walls. Every window told a story. A hero slaying demons or a priest healing wounded soldiers.

The Goddess descending from the heavens.

And in almost every image, A monstrous, shadowed figure representing the Demon King.

Jax paused for a moment across the street from the cathedral, chuckling as he saw how they represented him, seeing it as funny.

Meanwhile, thousands of people moved in and out of its massive gates.

Priests in white and gold robes walked through the crowds offering blessings. Paladins in polished armor stood guard along the outer walls. The amount of divine energy concentrated in this place was impressive.

Kayle’s influence was deeply rooted here.

As Jax continued observing the cathedral, a group of young men nearby began talking loudly.

“Did you hear?”

“Hear what?”

“The heroes are returning soon.”

Jax’s attention sharpened.

“Really?” another man asked eagerly.

“Yeah,” the first man said, “My cousin works with the knights stationed near the training grounds.”

He lowered his voice slightly, though the excitement remained obvious.

“They’ve been training nonstop. Apparently they’re preparing for the next major offensive.”

“Against the Demon King?”

“Of course!”

One of the men spat on the ground.

“That monster has destroyed too much,”

Another nodded angrily.

“I heard he enslaves entire races.”

Jax almost smiled. The rumors were certainly creative.

“Once the heroes defeat him,” another said confidently, “everything will go back to normal.”

A nearby woman nodded eagerly.

“The Goddess wouldn’t abandon us.”

More murmurs of agreement followed.

Jax continued walking. He passed another plaza.

Another statue of Kayle. Another group of priests preaching about faith and victory.

The pattern repeated again and again.

Faith, Hero worship and hatred for the Demon King.

But the city’s security also caught Jax’s attention.

Church knights patrolled nearly every major street. Holy barriers shimmered faintly across certain districts, and multiple temples, large and small—were scattered throughout the capital.

Each one radiated divine energy. This city was fortified. The Church had turned the capital of Lumeria into a bastion of divine influence.

Jax eventually stopped near a wide square overlooking another large cathedral.

From here he could see the inner district of the city. Multiple extremely tall magic towers, government buildings, Knight barracks and more.

And further beyond, Jax could see a massive walled complex built against the mountainside.

Even from this distance Jax could feel it. The concentration of mana. Powerful mana from the Heroes, which meant they were there training, and Jax was going to see how it was going.
