The moment the last word left Xara’s lips, the city shook massively, a sudden lurch in all of their inner balance as the gravity around them stuttered and then pulled extremely hard.

The floor beneath them lurched downward a fraction of an inch, then another inch and then another.

Warning sigils flared scarlet across the chamber, no longer orderly projections but jagged, overlapping alarms that chimed out of sync.

“Stabilizer Ring Three offline!”

“Primary lift enchantments failing!”

“Altitude loss confirmed. Rate accelerating!”

Xara’s wings snapped wider, feathers bristling as she spun, hands moving in sharp, precise gestures, Seal the inner sanctums. Redirect all remaining mana to structural integrity. NOW.”

The chamber shook again, this time violently enough that several lesser projections shattered outright, dissolving into sparks.

“Falling,” Xara finished grimly, “Yes.”

Outside the panoramic apertures, the world was rapidly changing as entire plans of refracted space peeled away. The special Dimension Aurelion’s Fall remain in was cracking like glass.

With a thunderous crack that echoed through reality itself, one of the spatial anchors failed and the city dropped even faster.

Ashanti’s stomach lurched violently as gravity seized them in earnest. Loose objects, data slates, broken runic components, even furniture, lifted briefly, then slammed downward as the city began to plummet.

Outside, dozens of Fallen Angels cried out in alarm as formations shattered, evacuation turning into frantic survival as wings beat desperately to keep pace with a city that was suddenly falling out of the sky, everyone flying out as soon as possible and floating as they watched the City drop to the ground.

“Altitude loss increasing!” someone shouted over the comms. “We’ve lost the concealment layer, repeat, the city is fully exposed!”

The skyline twisted as entire districts tilted, ancient towers groaning as their anti-gravity arrays flickered and died in sequence.

Ashanti looked at Xara, eyes wide, “How much time?”

Xara’s jaw clenched. For the first time since Ashanti had met her, the Fallen Angel leader didn’t bother softening the truth.

“Minutes,” she said. “If we’re lucky. If the City hits the ground at this speed….”

She didn’t need to finish that sentence as everyone knew what would happened.

The city shuddered again, harder this time. A deep, grinding sound rolled through the structure as something massive

cracked far below.

Ashanti turned instinctively toward Jax for his guidance, placing her trust in him.

The Demon King stood utterly still at the center of the chamber, thinking quickly.

“Xara,” he said calmly, cutting through the chaos like a blade. “Start decommissioning the city.”

Xara whipped toward him. “What?”

“Now,” he repeated, voice firm. “Full shutdown. Sever nonessential systems. Prepare for total evacuation.”

Her wings flared in disbelief. “Jax, if we shut down, ”

“The city dies,” he finished. “I know.”

Another violent drop interrupted her reply, the floor tilting sharply enough that Ashanti had to brace herself against a pillar.

Jax finally stepped forward.

“Just do it,” He said, and Xara nodded, beginning the decommission process.

Meanwhile, Jax floated, looking at the City shooting down below him, and then raised one hand, stilling the mana around them.

Mana across the chamber halted as if seized by an invisible grasp. Every Fallen Angel present felt it instantly, a pressure so immense it drove breath from lungs and forced wings tight against backs.

Outside, the falling city jerked, and stopped mid air.

The sudden arrest of motion sent shockwaves through the structure. Towers groaned, stone shrieked, and countless runes flared white-hot as forces far beyond their design parameters slammed into them.

Ashanti’s eyes widened as she felt it: an impossible lattice forming around the city, vast and intricate, threads of magic thicker than castle walls weaving through empty air.

Jax floated upward, boots lifting from the floor as his presence expanded beyond containment.

Golden sigils ignited across the sky, enormous and layered, rotating in slow, deliberate harmony.

A multi-tiered gravitational suspension array formed beneath Aurelion’s Fall, anchored directly to the planet’s ley lines, reinforced by spatial compression fields that wrapped the city like a cocoon.

Below them, clouds flattened under the pressure. Far beneath that, the land itself responded, mountains groaning faintly as if acknowledging a new weight pressing down upon reality.

Jax exhaled slowly.

The city hung there, trembling, but no longer falling.

Every Fallen Angel in the chamber stared, stunned.

Xara’s breath caught.

“That spell…” she whispered, “Quite incredible,”

“It’s a temporary measure,” He said as he returned and looked at Xara.

“Aurelion’s Fall is finished,” he said flatly. “Its design relies on energy sources that are no longer viable. You’ve been propping it up on dwindling divine residue for centuries.”

Xara’s wings folded slowly, feathers trembling from the weight of reality crashing down around her.

“…You’re telling me to abandon it,” she said quietly.

“I’m telling you to retire it,” Jax corrected, “Before it becomes a tomb.”

Silence fell, broken only by distant alarms and the low, steady hum of Jax’s spell.

Ashanti stepped forward, voice gentle but firm. “Xara… the Capital City is almost finished. You told us yourself you’re excited for it,”

Xara closed her eyes.

Memories flickered across her face, of a city built in defiance. Of when she first ascended to the role of Leader of the Fallen Angel Clan, and all the people and memories she had built in this place throughout her lifetime.

When she opened her eyes again, they were steady.

“…All units,” she said, voice carrying across the chamber and into the city-wide network. “This is High Commander Xara.”

Her wings straightened, posture ironclad.

“Continue the full decommission protocol. Priority evacuation of all citizens and personnel to designated transfer points. Salvage what you can. Leave what you must.”

The Fallen Angel paused for a moment, making sure to calm down her rampaging emotions, and then spoke in a softer, but no less resolute tone,

“Aurelion’s Fall has served us long enough.”
