BOOM!
The instant the missile hit Jason, it was deflected by the protective shield of pure energy surrounding him.
At that moment, the Apache helicopter fired two more Hellfire missiles.
Jason’s blood boiled with rage. ‘What the fuck, you assholes done yet?’
He coated his body in energy again and rocketed toward the helicopter.
BOOM! BOOM!
The two Hellfire missiles slammed into him and bounced off, doing jack shit.
The pilot’s face paled in panic. He slammed the red button, and the chopper’s side-mounted cannons roared to life.
Rat-a-tat-tat! Rat-a-tat-tat!
Jason smiled. He might not be able to tank an old-school Hellfire’s payload, but helicopter cannons? Those were like a fucking tickle.
Ignoring the hail of bullets, Jason shot forward at breakneck speed. The pilot yanked the control stick, desperately trying to evade.
But Jason’s speed and agility made the clunky helicopter look like a goddamn turtle.
In a flash, Jason, cloaked in energy, smashed through the chopper like a living cannonball.
BOOM!
A dazzling fireball lit up the sky as the Apache disintegrated into a shower of debris, scattering like fucking confetti.
[Ding! Eliminated 53 soldiers, gained 5,300 villain points. Current progress: 5,570/14,000]
Jason glanced back at the wreckage, smirking coldly, then oriented himself and flew toward the hideout.
—
Meanwhile, Christine and the other two had shaken off the cops and military, safely returning to their base.
They cracked open the stolen money bags, stacking crisp stacks of U.S. dollars into a pile.
A goddamn mountain of cash materialized before their eyes.
A single bill might not mean much, but stacked together, the sight was enough to make anyone’s jaw drop.
As the trio gawked at the cash mountain, Jason dropped from the sky, slamming into the ground with a BOOM like a fucking meteor.
Hearing the noise, they rushed outside the hideout.
Seeing Jason unscathed, all three lit up with relief.
“Honey~~~” Harley chirped sweetly, skipping over and clinging to him like a goddamn teddy bear.
Jason settled her down, grinning. “You all look so damn happy. Mission went off without a hitch, huh?”
The trio just smiled, saying nothing. Jason stepped inside and saw it.
A towering pile of cash dominated the empty floor—though it paled compared to Stark’s bank vault.
“This is all yours,” Christine said. “Now show us that freaky money-stealing trick of yours.”
Jason chuckled. “It’s not a fucking money-stealing trick.”
He placed his hand on the cash pile and opened the system interface.
[Points: 5,850]
[Rechargeable Wealth: $540,000,000]
“Recharge!”
In an instant, the massive cash mountain vanished without a trace.
The trio’s jaws hit the floor, dumbfounded by the sight.
Christine shot him a look. “Not a money-stealing trick, my ass.”
Jason shrugged. ‘Whatever, believe what you want.’
Harley, the first to return, had caught Jason’s news on TV. She bounced over, eyes sparkling. “Honey, I saw the news! Your energy-absorbing superpower is so fucking badass. Can you show me?”
Jason spread his arms, grinning. “Hell yeah. Grab your pistol and shoot me.”
Harley shook her head nervously. “I-I can’t!”
Jason sighed. “You saw the news, right? You know what I can do. Come on, shoot me.”
Harley still hesitated, shaking her head.
Jason turned to David. “Alright, David, you shoot me.”
David, who hadn’t seen the news, thought Jason had lost his damn mind. He waved his hands frantically. “Boss, what the hell are you talking about? No way I’m shooting you!”
Jason shook his head, exasperated. “Fine, I won’t push you. Let me throw on a bulletproof vest. That’ll make you feel better, right?”
He turned to grab a vest and slipped it on.
“Harley, what’d the news say?” Christine asked.
Since neither Christine nor David knew, Harley recounted the broadcast—Jason’s energy-absorption powers, shrugging off bullets and RPGs like they were nothing.
Learning he could tank gunfire and explosives, the two were floored.
First, he could boost people’s shooting skills. Then, he could make money vanish in a blink. Now, he was absorbing energy like a goddamn comic book hero.
David thought to himself, ‘The boss is one hell of a mystery.’
By then, Jason had the vest on. He turned to David. “Now you’re good to shoot, right?”
David nodded, pulling out his pistol. “Boss, you sure about this?”
Once Jason gave the go-ahead, David fired a shot at the vest.
Bang!
The muzzle flashed, and a brass bullet rocketed toward Jason. The moment it hit the vest, all its kinetic energy was absorbed, and it dropped to the ground like a feather.
The trio stared, slack-jawed. Seeing it in person hit way harder than any TV broadcast or secondhand story.
“One bullet’s not enough. All three of you, shoot me!” Jason barked. Fresh off gaining his powers, he was hyped as fuck, itching to show off to the whole damn world.
The three exchanged glances, then ditched their pistols for M16s and unloaded on him.
Rat-a-tat-tat! Rat-a-tat-tat!
Armor-piercing rounds, capable of punching through 20mm steel, hit Jason and lost all momentum, clattering to the ground like loose change.
Jason stood there, letting them empty their mags for a full minute. Not a scratch on him, not even a tear in his clothes.
When the gun barrels started smoking, the trio finally lowered their weapons, utterly convinced.
No wonder Jason had the balls to take on the government and military. This freakish, god-tier superpower was his trump card.
Harley, buzzing with excitement, asked, “Honey, can you give me powers like you did with the shooting skills?”
At that, Christine and David perked up, eyes gleaming with anticipation.
Jason rubbed his fingers together, flashing a sly grin. “Sure thing, but it’ll cost you a little something.”
“What’s the price?” the three asked in unison.
Having seen Jason’s powers, who the hell wouldn’t want a piece of that?
Jason smirked. “Superpowers come in tiers. A level-one power? Just five hundred million bucks.”
‘Five hundred million dollars!’
The number hit like a freight train, their faces frozen in shock.
But then they thought it over. Five hundred million for a superpower, even a basic one? That’s a fucking steal.
If Jason leaked that price, people would line up from L.A. to New York to buy. Especially a loaded prick like Stark—he’d probably buy a hundred powers just to flex.
