Jason sat on the grass, bored out of his mind, staring blankly at the distant blue sky and white clouds.

Not far away, Pepper, the star of this nationwide broadcast, was squatting on the ground, her hands clamped over her face, completely silent.

Getting shut down like that, Tony’s anger flared even hotter. For an arms dealer, the greatest insult was having his weapons and the killing they did thrown in his face.

Normally, Tony would have engaged in a verbal spar for 300 rounds, but today was different. He had to swallow the retort.

Jason continued, “Besides, this is all your fault, isn’t it? If you’d just shown up ten minutes earlier, Pepper wouldn’t have had to suffer this humiliation.”

“Hmph. My mistake.” Tony sneered, his iron fists clenching so hard they audibly creaked. “Trying to talk morality with a piece of shit like you is a waste of time. Only pain and blood will teach you a lesson.”

Hearing this, Jason mocked him disdainfully. “Pain and blood? Don’t forget, you didn’t beat me last time.”

Tony snapped his faceplate shut. “Don’t worry. I’ll definitely beat you today.”

Jason also took a fighting stance and nodded. “You’re right. And it’s going to be fast!”

The words had barely left his mouth when a deafening roar erupted. The audience watching the live feed almost pissed themselves.

Tony didn’t dodge. The sound of his repulsors suddenly intensified.

The arc reactor in his chest fired an electromagnetic pulse beam half a meter wide, much larger than the one from a few days ago.

This was the result of Tony’s work: an improved arc reactor with greater power output, designed to overwhelm Jason’s energy absorption.
