Walking out of the morgue, Alex scanned his surroundings curiously.
The common-sense memories in his mind told him this was a hospital morgue.
But he had absolutely no memory of why he was there.
“Someone’s coming.”
His enhanced hearing picked up hurried footsteps from several floors away.
Not knowing if the newcomer was friend or foe, Alex chose to stand his ground and wait.
A moment later, five hospital security guards ran over and stopped about ten meters away.
“Hey! Who are you? Why are you in the morgue?”
The tallest of the five, the security captain, rested one hand on his holster and pointed at Alex with the other, shouting the question.
Although he had heard the general situation described by the three doctors, a security guard certainly wouldn’t believe ghost stories about the dead coming back to life.
In his view, this youngster must be bored out of his mind, sneaking into the hospital morgue at night to pull a prank because he had nothing better to do.
The hospital was busy and under immense pressure to treat patients. They received so many patients daily that there was no guarantee a couple of armed lunatics wouldn’t show up, so the pressure on security was also enormous.
Under these circumstances, someone dared to come to the hospital and cause trouble; one could imagine the captain’s inner rage.
Even if he had to take off his uniform, he was going to teach this bastard a lesson.
The captain’s question stumped Alex; he wanted to know the answers to those two questions as well.
“Sorry, I can’t remember anything.”
Claiming ignorance—a common trick used by little punks. As the hospital security captain, he didn’t buy it for a second.
“Can’t remember? Then come to the security room with me and remember slowly.”
Four security guards stepped forward simultaneously, their steps steady, arms spread wide to prevent him from breaking through.
“No, I’m not a bad guy, don’t arrest me.”
Alex raised his hands innocently and backed away quickly.
Although he had lost his memories, the fear of police and security figures was etched deep in his soul.
“Don’t think about running, come with us!” A guard glared, pointing at his nose and roaring.
“Please, let me go.” Alex continued to back away, pleading.
Suddenly, the guard on the far left bent down and accelerated, tackling Alex around the waist and bringing him to the ground.
The two grappled. Alex roared, “Let me go!”
His voice was laced with extreme dissatisfaction.
“Stop moving, you scum!” The guard pinned him with one hand and reached for the handcuffs at his waist with the other.
“GET OFF!!!”
Repeated pleas having failed, Alex finally got angry.
He pushed off the ground with both arms, sliding his body forward a bit, then freed his right leg and kicked the guard.
Thud!
The nearly 200-pound body was launched into the air, slamming heavily into the wall and knocking the guard out cold.
“Shit! Fire! Fire!”
The captain was shocked and roared, drawing his pistol.
Alex scrambled to run, but gunshots erupted behind him.
Bang! Bang! Bang!!!
Four 9mm pistols fired simultaneously, the deafening gunshots echoing in the basement.
The guards’ marksmanship wasn’t bad. Even with rapid continuous fire, their accuracy was over eighty percent.
They had made up their minds to kill Alex, firing until their magazines were empty and the gunshots gradually ceased.
“How is it? Is he dead?” Someone asked uneasily.
Looking at Alex lying in a pool of blood like a dead dog, a teammate said confidently, “He took dozens of bullets; it’s impossible for him to be alive.”
The group nodded in agreement, then went to check on their unconscious teammate.
The unfortunate guard was bleeding and had multiple fractures, requiring emergency rescue.
“Shit! This kid is really strong to kick someone that far.”
“That’s gotta be fifteen meters.”
“Was the floor too slippery?”
The captain, experienced and knowledgeable, shook his head. “Unless we’re on an ice rink, even with both legs, I couldn’t kick someone ten meters, let alone a 200-pound man.”
Seeing the captain admit his inferiority, the three guards felt a sense of awe.
“But so what if he’s Tyson? He’s still no match for a pistol.”
The captain joked, and the three laughed along.
“Ah…”
Heavy breathing sounded from behind them.
The four of them instantly bristled, turning their heads in terror.
Alex was slowly standing up, hands on his knees, his pale, handsome face twisted and ferocious.
Pain!
So much pain!
No more running!
Kill you all!
The moment he made up his mind, Alex pushed off, charging forward with sprint speed.
“Shit!”
The four were scared out of their wits, faces written with fear and helplessness.
Only the captain reacted quickly enough, rolling out of the charge path and rapidly reloading his magazine.
Bang!
A charged heavy punch punched right through a guard’s heart. With a casual flick, the corpse was smashed into the wall.
Seeing their former colleague turned into a surrealist painting, the two remaining guards were stupefied, their brains shutting down.
Alex reached out with both hands, gripping their necks.
He lifted his arms, their feet leaving the ground.
“Mmph… mmph…”
Unable to breathe or speak, they could only cast pleading looks.
Alex’s expression was cold. He brought his arms together with force, smashing their heads into each other. They split open into several large pieces.
He let go, and the two corpses fell heavily to the ground.
The captain had finished reloading, gripping his gun with both hands and aiming at him.
“Stay back… damn it… who the hell are you?”
Living for decades, he had never seen such a terrifying person. Even though he had always been bold, his arms began to tremble slightly.
“I told you…” Alex walked forward slowly, “I don’t know either.”
“Shit! Go to hell!”
The captain roared to embolden himself, steadied his arms, and pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Alex took another ten bullets. The severe pain in his chest and abdomen made him close his eyes and frown deeply.
After adjusting for a few seconds, he looked up, his eyes full of rage.
Both magazines were empty. The captain had to throw the pistol at him, then turned quickly to flee.
Squelch!
Seconds later, an arm pierced through his chest.
The captain’s body went limp as if all strength had been instantly drained; he couldn’t even manage a simple turn of his head.
Alex didn’t kill him immediately because, for some reason, he felt an appetite for this body.
He had felt this desire earlier but thought his brain was malfunctioning from hunger.
But upon closer observation, he noticed that when the appetite arose, the blood vessels in his arm would bulge and writhe, like little snakes swimming under his skin.
He pulled down his collar; the result was as expected.
It wasn’t just his arm; the blood vessels all over his body were going berserk.
Alex thought for a moment and decided to stop suppressing it, unleashing the desire fully.
Once his brain lifted the restraint, the frenzy of his blood vessels instantly escalated several levels, his blood boiling like water.
Rip!
The berserk blood vessels burst out of his body, piercing into the captain’s body like spikes, and began to frantically suck up his flesh and blood.
This…
Alex was dumbfounded.
This bizarre scene completely exceeded his common sense.
I am absorbing him!
After thinking for a long time, he found an apt word.
The absorption speed was fast. Over a dozen blood vessels acted like installed pumps; a full-grown adult man was consumed in less than ten seconds, leaving behind only a pile of fabric.
“ARGH!!!”
The next second, a massive amount of memories flooded into his mind.
Alex dropped to one knee, clutching his head and howling!
