Chapter 54: Something To Call Her
“Then I believe I’m ready to go,” Amelia speaks up with confidence.
For some reason this is the first time I’m noticing the orange hair peaking out from her hood. How did I miss this the first time I saw her?
The cross like pupil is also gone from her eye… Instead it is a pinkish purple color while her normal eye is blue.
I guess she can conceal the pupil or is it something she didn’t realize that she did? Either way she’ll stick out with two different colored eyes, but I don’t think it matters since most encounters will be with zierel.
There isn’t really a high chance of meeting other humans out there with the way the streets were here.
I can only imagine it being way worse out there.
“What about you Liam?” Airi asks curiously.
“I think I’m ready as well, but I think leaving tomorrow is the best idea. Gives us time to pack and get some rest before traveling,” I answer.
Airi sits silently for a moment, as does Amelia.
“Leaving tomorrow is a good idea,” Amelia speaks up in agreement.
“Then tomorrow it is. I’m sorry again that I’m not joining for a bit,” Airi says with a sad look on her face.
“Don’t worry about it. I think we can handle ourselves until then,” I assure her with a smile.
The sad expression disappears from her face as a smile reappears.
“Great. I’m going to get some sleep, you guys should at some point as well,” Airi responds before getting up.
I watch as she walks past, noticing a change in her body language. She is still upset about something but I can’t tell what it is.
The door shuts in the distance and silence lingers in the room for a few moments until Amelia stands up.
“Thank you for encouraging me. I don’t really know if I would’ve tried to use the power otherwise, goodnight Liam,” Amelia says before leaving the room.
“You’re welcome,” I manage to reply as she reaches the door.
Being positive like this is a lot like the old me when I still had everyone around. I didn’t think I could be like this, but lately it is possible.
Being around Airi is doing a lot of good for me I guess. I’m not sure if being positive is the right thing or not when this world is going to take it away at some point.
Negativity won’t always get me where I need either though.
I stand up from the chair, taking a quick glance around the room.
Nothing else is really going on in here but it always feels like something is out of place for some reason. I shrug it off and make my way back to my room.
Shut.
I close the door behind me as I feel the wriggling around in my arm again.
At least she is starting to wait till I’m alone instead of talking to me while everyone is around all the time. It makes it a lot easier for me to stay focused.
“I think I’ll give you a name to call me. It isn’t my real name yet, but it’ll do,” She says with a calm tone.
“What am I calling you then?” I question as I take a seat on my bed.
“Celeste. That will do for now,” she answers.
It is great to have a name to call you instead of constantly referring to you as the woman in my head all the time.
“Make up your mind,” Celeste says with irritation in her voice.
I’ll keep it like this since both of them are here right now. But you do have me curious about why you went with the name celeste.
“I just happen to like the name,” She answers nonchalantly.
At least it is something to call you now.
She doesn’t really say much more after that so I pack whatever I need into a small backpack that I have.
It is just basic stuff to get through the trip, hopefully Airi will give some food for the journey.
After packing everything I need for the time being, I begin to practice with my sword some more. Testing out different ways to swing the sword around while also trying to access its power.
Nothing happens for the hour that I practice using it.
It finally feels like I’m ready to sleep after the packing and practicing I did, so I get into my bed.
Looking up at the ceiling I can slowly start to see the room around me fading into the darkness… My indicator to close my eyes.
Once I open my eyes I can see that I’m back inside of my old house with the strange black goo everywhere. Almost like the veins in my arm, they linger all around the room.
It feels strange to be waking up back in this nightmare again after not having them lately.
Nonetheless I get up and out of my bed, feeling the stickiness of the ground on my feet.
I really do hate this place more than anything… Especially when it is covered in all of this shit. This isn’t my original home anymore.
It is like Celeste made this place her own, at least that’s how it feels when I’m in here. I don’t really know how to feel about the whole thing yet.
Not like she has a whole lot of options since she is trapped within my body.
Creakkkk.
The door creaks open before I can get to it.
I see her once again, Celeste is standing in the doorway. She is still wearing the same exact outfit as last time but the look in her eyes is different.
“Do you really want to refuse my help still?” Celeste asks with sadness in her voice.
I didn’t really refuse it when I fought against that hybrid since she did help heal my chest.
“I can’t ask for anything more than you did during the fight,” I answer calmly.
“But I can do more… You can do more,” She pleas.
