Chapter 62: An Abomination [2]
The blood that splashed all over my face before is starting to cause some issues with what I can see.
Wipe. Wipe.
I use my left hand to wipe away some of the blood but my vision still seems to be a bit blurred from what already got in.
Pierce! Pierce!
The sound of arrows hitting the zierel take my attention for a moment as I look up towards the light. Each arrow is sticking out from its chest with no real damage showing that I can see.
Relying on hearing all the time is a real hard thing to do… Especially when fighting against zierel. The only advantage here is the size of this one since it makes it impossible to miss when swinging my sword.
Also makes it an impossible target for amelia to miss as well. Missing a shot against the thing would be insane.
Slam!!!!
Before I get the chance to react, its fist slams into me.
I can feel the wind going past me as I realize I’m flying through the air, taking notice that my sword couldn’t block it in time.
Crash!!!!!
Thud!!!
After feeling the impact of the crash I fall onto the floor, my sword clatters on the ground next to me. Pain is all I can feel throughout my body as I look towards the sword.
I cough up some blood as I try to use my arms to push myself up.
“I knew it would be dumb to fight against it,” Celeste speaks with worry in her voice.
This isn’t really the time for this… I’m in the middle of trying to get up.
“Then why aren’t you up already?” Celeste asks, shifting to a serious tone.
Because I’m trying to get up. I just got flung across the area by a giant fist that I didn’t get a chance to defend against.
I’m also not even sure if I’ll be able to move when I get up. My whole body feels like a piece of shattered glass right now, I doubt I’ll be able to lift the sword.
“I don’t want to die so you can’t die!” She shouts.
Wriggle. Wriggle.
I feel some of the pain subside a bit as a strange feeling goes throughout my body.
I’ll take it that you are healing me to the best of your abilities so I’ll do my best to make sure it isn’t a waste. It doesn’t change any of the damage I took this far though.
I pick up my sword as blood drips onto the floor, my body feels like complete garbage still. At least it isn’t enough to keep me from moving anymore.
Using a bit of the strength from Celeste I rush towards the zierel, picking up with speed more and more as I get closer.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Swing!!! Slice!!!!
I swing my sword up as I reach its leg, cutting through it with the light radiating from the sword; Moments after I slice across it, forcing it to fall onto its knees.
This definitely isn’t going to be enough to kill it… I’m lucky that I can even force it down onto its knees like this in the first place. My body is also nearing its limits from one hit from it.
I need to make this count to the best of my abilities if I want to kill it…
Slash!!! Slash!!!! Slash!!!!!!
I swing the sword relentlessly as my arm finally gives out with the last swing.
Clang!
The sound of my sword falling onto the floor tells me that I won’t be able to do much more here. I gaze upon the zierel’s leg and notice that I really did tear through it quite a bit, even burn marks are all around the wounds.
Slam!!
A fist slams next to me, sending me quite a bit away from it.
This time around I don’t get sent flying through the air but as I find my footing… My legs give out.
I fall onto the ground, my sword nowhere in sight as it starts to cry out, deafening my ears for a few seconds. The pain is also back, surging throughout my whole body.
At the end of the day I’m still just a human.
What can I truly do against a monster of that size anyway? My body is probably done for, unless Amelia manages to get to me somehow.
The wounds celeste healed are already open again. Light bearers are fighting against zierel all the time and yet I can’t seem to beat the stronger ones.
Hybrids… Giant ones like this… How can I accomplish my goal?
Bang!!!!
The sound of a gunshot goes past me as a burst of light pierces the zierels stomach in front of me.
RUMBLE!!!!!!! RUMBLE!!!!!!!
The zierel falls back into some of the buildings, causing a few of them to collapse as he sends small shockwaves throughout the area.
“Long time no see,” A mans voice speaks from above me.
I turn to see a guy with blue eyes, black hair, wearing white robes like Airi’s, and a gun in his right hand made of a bright white light.
The ability to speak isn’t really there as I stare at him.
“I see you are quite hurt so I’ll take it from here. If you don’t remember, it’s me Zeno,” He continues on with a laid back tone.
I feel my eyes widen as I remember who he is.
He was the light bearer I saw back in the city wandering all alone… But now he’s here in the city of Amadon with us. This fight is definitely winnable at this point.
“A Goliath ranking zierel is quite rare to see, how interesting,” Zeno says with some excitement.
He helps prop me up against the wall before turning back to face the abomination.
Silence lingers after he says that for a couple of moments, but he spins his pistol around and starts to take a few glances.
“Let there be light!” He shouts.
