Chapter 120: Tournament 1
A/N: Sorry if you’ve read the Chapter earlier, but I’ve been having technical problems lately. I didn’t even know it came out wrong until a dedicated reader questioned it(#@Ibrahim_Kouma)- thank you so much. Don’t worry though, it has been fixed, and there’d no more be errors like today and the past few days.

Much like Rose, Anastasia didn’t walk towards the crystal, but blurred there instead. As she stood five meters from the crystal, her elegant longsword appeared in her hand. A chilling aura radiated from her being, before she seemingly disappeared from her spot and appeared before the crystal.
“Stillwater Severance.” Her serene voice was the only thing that echoed, before she slashed her sword diagonally across the crystal.
Shiiiiing!
A loud whistle sounded from the aftermath. The crystal still looked the same as before, but the ground flanking it’s sides and behind, were split with an eerily perfect cut, one that seemed impossible.
The crystal also flashed numbers, from one, to a hundred, to two hundred, before finally settled at three hundred and twenty- one.
’Thought she’d get more than that.’ I mused. But then again, her ability and powers didn’t exactly scream high attack power, or high destruction effects.
After Anastasia’s display, the rest of the students came and did theirs. And finally, after half an hour, the last student finished theirs.
By the time the culling games ended, Rose held the highest score, followed by Alistair, and finally, yours truly.
“This brings us to the end of the culling games.” Voiced instructor Summers. “Instructor Lee will be taking over, and debriefing you all on the last exam of the mid terms.” She said, before a sonic boom distorted the air as she flew back to the Instructor’s seating area.
Before the final wails of the sonic boom faded, instructor Lee was already floating in the space instructor Summers stood before, a wide grin splitting his face.
“Hello students.” he waved. “For those of you that do not know me, I’m instructor Lee, the homeroom instructor of class 1-Delta. And today, I am the overseer, as well as the one who would be briefing you on the third test.”
I’m sure you all know of the one character in a novel who’s crazy strong and behaves like a clown. Well the one in this story, or at least one of the ones in this novel, is instructor Lee. Personally, I find it not repulsive, in fact, it was quite entertaining if anything.
Some of the students looked embarrassed, while most were looking at him weirdly. The former I reckon were his homeroom students, while the latter were from the other two classes.
“The third test, as far as it goes, is a tournament.” He declared causing causing a massive uproar.
-“What, a tournament?”
-“How are the matches going to decided.”
-“But truly, a tournament? what if we get a bad match up and lose without going far?
“I’m sure you’re all probably guessing how the matches are going to be fixed.” the instructor ignored the chatter and continued, before his grin widened. “Well since you’re so curious, I’ll do you a favor and tell you.” He said, continuing to stretch the matter. “It’s going to be random.”
-“How lucky.” A student clicked his tongue.
-“What do you mean how lucky? with your shitty luck, you’ll definitely get a bad match up.”
-“It was a sarcastic comment, you idiot.”the first student countered.
“Now, for the fixtures,” The clown instructor waved his hands comically, before pointing to the projection above, which soon changed to show sixty four different boxes, with images of all sixty four qualified students blinking past each frame insanely fast, before suddenly settling.
“And there, students, we have our matches.” Instructor Lee beamed.
Meanwhile, while the world around me devolved into an uproar, I stood speechless. Mostly from the surprise that came from the image linked to mine, that is the opponent I was to fight first.
I stood like that for the next few seconds, before a grin slowly crept onto my face as I turned towards a certain blue haired girl, who was coincidentally also looking at me.
’Delilah, oh Delilah, it seems it’s your day of reckoning.’ I thought in glee. Two frames were enlarged and pushed forward. And guess what, they were both mine and Delilah’s, which meant we were going up first.
“And we have our first contestants, Damon Darkfell and Facing him, is Delilah Whetstone. Everyone clear the field for this two!” he bellowed.”
Then he enveloped all other students except Delilah and I, with his aura, and moved them to the stands, which was about a three hundred meters from where we stood.
Now only Delilah and I stood in the massive field spanning about five hundred meters in diameter.
“There are only two rules.” Instructor Lee raised two fingers. “The first is you immediately stop when your opponent is knocked out, or surrenders. Two, if your opponent doesn’t surrender, don’t be afraid to go all out. As long as I’m here, not a single student could die.” The clownish instructor said. “Now begin!” he bellowed.
Before the last echoes of his words could fade, Delilah who already had her bow by her side, sent five wooden arrows flying towards me.
I smirked. Too slow. Then proceeded to cut all down with my sword. But just as I finished doing that, five more arrows came whistling at me in quick succession, this one’s significantly faster than before, but still was just an inconvenience to me.
After doing to this arrows what I did to the first, I sighed. Delilah was weaker than I expected. But then again, perhaps it was because I was subconsciously comparing her to the her in the future who I read about, or mayhaps it was because I had simply grown too strong.
Which I kind of did, after all, the me at the time we entered the institution while wouldn’t be floored by Delilah, would still have an extremely tiny chance of beating her, if any. Now however, I felt confident that even if there were ten Delilahs, I’d still win by a landslide.
Anyway, back to the fight, I flicked to the side, trying to disappear from the archeress’s view, but it seemed I underestimated her awareness, because she turned to me with an unwavering precise track to my movements.
“Bow art: Myriad bloom.” An ethereal arrow manifested on the bowstring she drew taut.
BOOOM!
The arrow split the air with a resounding sonic boom, creating several concentric rings in the air as it left the bow. Then it split into an uncountable volley, giving no space to dodge, and all rushing towards me at subsonic speeds.
’Shit, she never used her techniques during the tournament in the novel.” I cursed, as I executed the a horizontal slash with my sword.
“Fall.” Utilizing the shockwave aspect of the third art, a furious gale erupted with me at the centre, and clashed with the volley of arrows, successfully displacing them in the process.
Then with a sharp kick to the ground, I appeared before the blue haired girl, before the could shoot the ethereal arrow that was conjured on her bow string at me once more.
Her eyes widened, but she still tried to shoot the arrow at me at point blank. Try being the keyword. I pushed the hand holding the bow, tilting it slightly to the side, making the arrow shoot past the side of my head, the air in it’s wake wildly flapping my hair.
BOOOM!
The volley of arrows struck the empty space behind me, embedding themselves into the ground.
Meanwhile, I threw a hook to the side of her face, violently snapping her head to the side in the process. She flew away, her body skidding on the ground for a few seconds before finally managing to stop herself using her hand as a clutch.
I stood there as she got up from the ground, her face grim with the realization that she’d never beat me. That expression on her face stroke my ego so well that a smirk crept up my face. But the smirk on my face also seemed to insense her, because her face turned serious from grim.
She drew her bowstring once more, but this time, perhaps because the blow to her face from moments before had knocked her senses haywire, I managed to completely disappear from her sight.
She looked from left to right, trying to locate me. “Behind you.” my words fell softly from behind her ear. She swung the hand with the bow back hard, trying to hit me with either her hand, or the bow itself, maybe even both.
I dodge with a mere tilt of my head backwards, before I proceeded to hold the arm she had swung at me, before giving her a back hand that sent her flying backwards once more, but she managed to flip back on her feet before she crashed to the ground.
I took a through analysis of her condition. One side of her face was grotesquely swollen, and on the other side, her lips were badly broken and split, with blood running out of her mouth. But most of all, was the hateful glare she was sending at me.
“Would you surrender now, or would you prefer we take it further?” I asked, but before she could answer, I continued. “Before you answer, I should tell you that I would more than be glad if you chose the latter.”
As she was now, Delilah was pretty weak compared to the main cast. But then again, amongst the main cast, she had always been the second weakest. As for who the weakest was, of course the white haired bitch took first place.
“So, what’s it going to be?” I asked the still silent girl. She glared hatefully at me once more, before she turned her head towards instructor Lee. “I surrender.” She spat.
“Well we have a winner! Damon Darkfell wins by the opponent’s forfeit!” Instructor Lee wildly announced.
