Chapter 22: Who the hell is she?
“Aiiiish, you’ve got to be kidding me.” I almost felt the need to pull out my hair out of frustration.
I wasn’t frustrated because of the opinion everyone around had of me, God knows, I’m as thick skinned as they come. The reason I was frustrated was a little childish to be honest.
It was all because Rose had ignored me like I didn’t even matter. Just the thought, fueled my fury to no end.
Rose was the second princess of the Darkfell empire, also the fourth in line to succession, but also my twin older sister.
Yep, it pained me to admit, but she was older than me, by three whole minutes. I was the third prince, also the fifth in line to succession, and also the last born of House Darkfell.
Since childhood, Rose had always overshadowed me in everything, be it combat, or academics. And she never missed the chance to rub it in my face, especially when father took time out of his busy schedule to oversee our training/sparring.
Rose would go the extra mile in showing me my place. But even then, things were still salvageable, even though everyone looked at me like a disappointment. It was on our sixteenth birthday, the day we had our awakening, that everything changed drastically.
Rose awakened with an Alpha ranked physique, and I, awakened with the bottom of the bottom, a kappa ranked physique that only let my reflection be invisible. Even I was disappointed in me.
Ever since that day, the few times we’ve spoken could be counted on one hand, and even then she’d look at me with contempt and disdain.
Even when I was exiled, Only one person batted an eye amongst my siblings.
That was the first princess of the Darkfell empire, also the second in succession, and the only one in House Darkfell who entertains my presence, Ariel Darkfell.
She was also the one who got me a fake identity, and some money, and a path to leave the capital unscathed.
As time kept trickling by, attention gradually slipped from me. Airships descended every other second dropping young aspirants and soaring back up.
An airship with the sigil of an anvil shaped whetstone produced a stunning blue haired girl that took everyone’s attention.
That was Delilah whetstone, the first princess of the whetstone empire, and also the second heroine of the protagonist. Just like Rose, she walked deeper into the stretch of land the aspirants we’re occupying, and found an empty place to stand, close to the barrier.
After her, another grand airship descended, this one engraved with the sigil of an ash colored wolf. From it, a handsome young man with ash colored hair stepped out.
’Fabian Ashton.’ I thought. This was the third prince of the Ashton empire, and also the rival of the protagonist. If there was one flaw he had, it was his arrogance.
I mean, everyone has arrogance, but believe me this guy took it to the next level.
’Stop glazing the fool, and look who it is.’ Bubble’s voice sounded in my head.
“Who?” I muttered looking around. It was then that I saw who it was. Lo and behold, It was the conniving bitch, the first heroine of the protagonist, and also my ex-fiancee.
Elsa Whitemore.
Our eyes met, and the bitch started walking towards me. Thankfully, even with her looks, she was too unimportant to compete for attention with someone like Fabian.
As she stood before me, contrary to the anger and hate that I’d expected to go through me when I saw her, all she stirred in me was calm indifference, indifference at someone I had already judged as a dead person. She’d die by my hands, of that I was sure.
“Prince Damon…’ she began, but then paused. “Oh excuse my manners, I’d quite forgotten that you were no longer a prince.” she said her blue eyes hovering at me.
’This bitch has got some nerve.’ Bubbles’ furious voice rang in my head. ’Let me give her a piece of my mind Damon.’
’Calm down Bubbles, now’s not the time.’ I placated. Who knew the adorable thing could get angry.
“You look better than the last time I saw you.” the bitch continued.
I put on a harmless smile.
“Haven’t you heard the saying, that he who stays stagnant, let’s the world flow past him unnoticed.”
“Oh my God, is that who I think it is?” Just as the bitch opened her mouth to reply, a commotion began, drawing both of our attention.
Turning to the source, I noticed a large airship descending onto the waters. The sigil on it carried on it’s banners was a majestic golden drake.
“Ah, so he has arrived.” I muttered under my breath, as a handsome young man appeared on the airship’s deck.
The man of the hour himself.
His hair was a rich golden color, and his eyes were like two deep pools of a golden ocean. A charming smile graced his features.
Who was it if not our protagonist, Alistair von Drake. The only one who possessed an omega ranked physique, or at least the only one known to posses one.
After all, House Drake had proudly announced that two years ago not long after Alistair’s awakening. He had became really popular since then, after all, there hadn’t been any awakening of an omega ranked physique in Nahaar since the Dark war almost a millennia ago.
Suddenly, everyone wanted to make connections with House Drake, a tier 2 house in the Whetstone empire, and in hindsight, with Alistair.
I detested him though, especially back then, when the news spread. And I still detested him even now.
Part of me detested and envied him for getting an omega ranked physique while I got stuck with the short hand of the stick, and the other part of me detested him for his character that I had read. He and that bitch, were part of the reason Damon died in the original timeline after all.
I knew the first part was unreasonable, I was just being a child by hating someone for something no one could control.
The second part though, I ain’t feeling bad about this one.
“Oh my God, he’s coming this way!” a girl squeaked as Alistair got off the airship, and began walking past the youths. He too, just like the other high profile individuals, found an empty space and stood upright, giving a confident aura, one that seemed to project nothing could phase him.
By this time, the bitch had long excused herself from my presence, so I went back to soothing my frayed nerves. ’Now that the man of the hour is here, the proctor should be appearing anytime now.’
“Are what my eyes seeing real?!”
But just as I thought that, another commotion started. ’What could it possibly be now?’ I sighed in annoyance.
The first thing I saw was the hull of an airship with the sigil of a red mare. “House Necron?” I muttered. ’I thought they didn’t have any aspirant our age.’ I thought before looking up at what the youths were looking at.
The moment I did, my eyes caught a glimpse of the most breathtaking and mesmerizing being I’d ever seen.
~I fell in love with somebody who doesn’t even know name…..~
“Huh? what was that?” I snapped my head around.
“Hey Bubbles, did you hear that?” I muttered in confusion to the winged cat that had appeared on my shoulder at some point.
“Hear what?” Bubbles replied absentmindedly.
“Huh? I could have sworn I just heard some song playing.” I muttered still stuck in a trance, just like almost every youth on the island.
The figure was standing on the deck of the airship. She had long vibrant scarlet hair partly held by a hair pin, and partly falling in loose waves around her shoulders and back.
Her eyes were two pools of crimson orbs, and her face, divine. A set of high cheekbones, a slim nose, and juicy rosy lips, as if her face had been sculpted by the gods themselves. Her elegant black dress hugged her figure, at the top, and then flowed at the bottom.
“Hey snap out of it, you’re drooling.” Bubbles’ soft paw smacked my cheek.
“What? Bubbles?! When did you come out?!” I whisper exclaimed- breaking out of my fantasy.
“When you were too busy staring at that divine art.” Bubbles licked his paw. “Plus like I said, you’re drooling.” he added.
“No I’m not.” I protested as I cleaned a suspicious liquid from the side of my mouth.
“How can someone be so….so… gosh I don’t even know how to put it.”
“It’s like we aren’t even meant to exist together.”
“She’s…. perfect.”
Such were the conversations going around in the surrounding.
The girl meanwhile, watched impassively, without the slightest hint of emotion on her face, which only seemed to maker her more out of reach.
“Her charm stat must be in the omega.” I off handedly muttered.
“Either that, or her unique physique must be charm and beauty related.” Bubbles added.
I had a million questions about her, but first of all,
“Who the hell is she?”
