Chapter 128: Tournament 9
“DAMON DARKFELL WINS!”
Back at the stands.
’Damn it!’ Levi who had returned from the infirmary cursed. ’So he really was holding back against me.’ he thought staring at the figure of Damon as he stood victoriously over Calum’s unconscious body.
Clench! An audible pop sounded as Levi clenched his fist. ’Was he looking down on me?’ A visible vein pulsed on his temple. He was extremely furious. Why didn’t Damon move like that when he was fighting him? Why didn’t he attack like he did when facing Calum?
Was Damon implying that Calum was stronger than him? No, that couldn’t be. He didn’t put Calum in his eyes at all. Sure Calum was strong, but it was only physical strength, and Levi’s ability more than made up for it. He was damn sure his lightning could penetrate Calum’s defences.
So then why did Damon do that? “Was it payback for what happened at the start of the egg challenge phase?” He murmured to himself. Whatever it was, he was going to find out eventually.
Unlike what Levi thought, if he was to actually think about it, the one that was looked down upon wasn’t actually him, but Calum. Damon hadn’t needed his reflection to defeat Calum, but he did need one to defeat Levi himself.
One could argue that it was because Levi had caught him off guard before he could get serious, but it was still within his ability to be able to catch Damon off guard.
—————-
At the third years seating area.
“Hahahahahah!” Emmett threw back his head and laughed wildly, shocking every single one of the third years currently in the stadium.
“Still think he’s a disappointment?” the silver haired girl beside Emmett asked.
Emmett stopped his wild laugh and turned to her. “The way you and I see things are different Silvie. In my eyes, and in our family, he’s still quite the disappointment.” Emmett rested his chin on his hand. “It’s nothing just because he beat some brute. His next fight is against Rose, isn’t it? If this is all he can do, you’ll see how much of a disappointment he really is.” he yawned.
The crowd meanwhile, was extremely hyped up by the intense fight that had just.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this beat the former record for the most intense fight since this tournament began.” Instructor Lee projected his voice across the entire stadium. “And the former record was beaten by the same person who set it, Damon Darkfell!” The instructor roared towards the end.
After finishing all his commentaries, the In structor waved Damon back to the stands, and a bright light enveloped Calum, transporting him to the infirmary.
When back to the stands, Damon gulped down a tube of a high grade healing potion, and stood up. Then amongst the gazes of the numerous students, made his way to a certain redhead. If it was before, many students would have been whispering about it knowing full well he could hear them. But now, they just watched silently, except for Elsa who frowned slightly.
“My my, coming straight to me amongst this many people, Oh how scandalous, what do you mean by this?” She asked coquettishly, when Damon reached her.
Damon’s mood that had been in high spirits at having won just a minute ago instantly soured. “Tsk, have some sense, will you?”
“Fine.” she chuckled. “What do you want?” She asked Damon who had turned his head away, muttering something about how unfair the world was after she a chuckled.
“I want to ask something of you…” he paused. “But first…” he bent down between them, placing his hand to the ground. “Sanctuary of silence.” A web of inscriptions appeared, and a transparent dome rose from the point of contact of Damon’s palm and the ground, and enveloped both Damon and Anastasia, much to the dissatisfaction of the students who had been listening in on their conversation.
“Someone’s been learning a little sorcery eh?” Anastasia teased. “What can I say, I’m a natural.” Damon smirked. “I can tell.” she nodded. ’If only she knew the grueling hours of work I put into this, to be able to make it so effortlessly.’ he sweat dropped.
“So what do you want to talk about?” she asked straight to the point.
In the meantime while Damon and Anastasia conversed within their silent dome, another instructor appeared floating above the utterly destroyed field, before he slowly lowered himself.
The moment his feet touched the ground, the earth rolled and folded in on itself, swallowing all debris like a grinder, until it eventually evened into a field like that of before any fight had happened there. In less than a second, the field was back to the way it was before, maybe even stronger. The instructor disappeared soon after.
“Now that the arena is fixed ladies and gentlemen, let’s call on our next combatants, and hope they give us a heck of a performance.” Instructor Lee boomed. The frames above the stage pushed forward two images and enlarged them.
“Rose Darkfell Vs Nathan Hosu!” The instructor boomed, all hyped up. But what happened next, poured water all over him.
“I forfeit.” The voice rang out clearer than that of the Instructor’s. All heads turned to the scrawny looking boy who voiced that out. “What?” the boy asked seeing all gazes on him. Did they expect him to go fight that murder machine? Hell no. Her gaze alone could freeze him.
The others, upon seeing his scrawny build also seemed to understand his situation. They couldn’t fault him for trusting his survival instincts. They weren’t sure they would agree to go against the Phoenix princess even if it were them.
Just then, the transparent dome around Damon and Anastasia came undone. It seemed the two had finished discussing whatever it was that they were talking about.
“Do not worry, you have my word.” Was the last thing Damon said to Anastasia as the dome became undone.
The two meanwhile, came aware to the fact that everyone was looking at a certain guy. It was only when Damon looked up to see the same guy’s image being a displayed up above together with Rose’s, did he understand why.
“So another one forfeited.” Anastasia muttered. “Funny how almost everyone seems to be scared of your sister.” She chuckled.
“I do not blame them, she is scary.” Damon shuddered. “So, are you also scared of her?” Anastasia tilted her head.
“A little.” Damon nodded.
“I see.” Anastasia nodded. “I do not see what there is to be scared about though.” she muttered in confusion as Damon went back to his seat.
“For our next match, we have the crown jewel of this generation, Alistair Von Drake vs arguably the only prince who can rival him Fabian Ashton!”
“Only prince who can rival him my ass.” Damon rolled his eyes.
Meanwhile, both Alistair and Fabian leapt towards the middle of the now fixed field that Damon and Calum had destroyed. But unlike last time, the ground didn’t crack from them landing this time.
Upon landing, Fabian’s skin turned purple, with glowing white lines running around his arms and torso. The clothes on his upper body turned to dust in less than a second as he chose to disintegrate them.
Since he was fighting Alistair, he wasn’t going to hold back one bit. His boots also disintegrated, making his purple soles visible to everyone. Now the only piece of clothing he was wearing was the trousers on his body.
Alistair meanwhile, summoned his spear from his spatial storage, and took a stance even before the instructor Lee announced the beginning of the fight.
“This might just be the most entertaining of fights, no offense to the combatants of the last fight.” Instructor Lee chuckled.
“Begin!”
Both Fabian and Alistair exploded forth simultaneously and reached each other in a split second, their spear and halberd clashing.
BOOOM!
A massive shockwave exploded with them at the center. This finally cracked the fortified earth beneath their feet. Fabian pulled back his spear a little, before stomping the shaft of his spear into the ground, then using it as a hold, snapped his purple soles towards Alistair’s face.
Alistair was no slouch either. He bent his spine backwards, making Fabian’s leg swept past the place his head had been.
But Fabian wasn’t done, his other leg kicked towards Alistair’s hand, precisely the hand holding the most weight of the spear. Seeing this, Alistair had no choice but to quickly remove his hand.
The moment Fabian’s heel came in contact with the spear, the spear’s structure began to severely degrade. Alistair noticing that, instantly pulled back the spear, and jumped backwards, but the damage was already done.
Alistair looked at the spear, precisely the part where Fabian’s heel had touched. That part had become old and brittle. A single hard press would be enough to snap it
SNAP!
Alistair snapped the spear himself and threw both parts to either side. The next moment, he brought out a much grander spear from his spatial storage.
