Chapter 135: Alistair vs Anastasia 1
”Holy shit! This is some serious….” Damon rasped, but before he could finish, a bright flash of light enveloped his main body and whisked him away.
His reflection however, still stood there, under the gazes of everyone present.
Over at the third year’s seating area, Silvie, the silver haired beauty turned to Emmett. “You were saying?” she asked with a triumphant smile.
”This is a rather unusual situation.” Emmett muttered, his gaze still centered on Damon down at the arena.
”Really? I believe what you said was; There no chance in a million that my dear brother comes out on top if those two ever clash.”
Emmett turned his head to her. “I know that, which is why I said it was an unusual situation.” he said before he turned his gaze back to Damon. “You certainly have gotten stronger, haven’t you?” Emmett muttered.
The gears in his head began to turn, from the time Damon suddenly left kida city which he shouldn’t have, to the time he went to the black sands island, and how he somehow got deposited into the Ashen deadland. The way Damon suddenly became stronger, and the reason his physique ability changed, which should be impossible by all means.
The way he went to that underground market in silver city, and acquired the bands of legom that were supposed to land in Alistair’s hands. Or the way Damon knew to go find old man Ren for fixing the artifact.
All these things pointed to one thing. ’Is he really a regressor like I thought earlier?’ Of course, Emmett wasn’t stupid, he had thought of it before. For someone who had regressed himself more times than he could count, he knew the signs.
But then again, it wasn’t quite possible. Even if he did regress, the Damon in all the previous iterations couldn’t have possible known about all these knowledge’s for one simple fact. He simply didn’t live long enough to get to know them. In every iterations, Damon always died in spira city no matter what, this iterations was the only black sheep where he managed to survive.
So, if not regression, how did Damon manage to be in the know of future events? ’A seer perhaps?’ Emmett almost laughed despite himself. He knew better than anyone those scammers didn’t know shit.
Emmett ignored the vocal jabs Silvie was sending his way, and smiled slightly. Whatever it was Damon was hiding and how he got to know of future events, be it regressing, or even the work of a seer impossible as it may seem, Emmett would find out sooner or later.
At the first year’s seating area meanwhile, the atmosphere was especially lively, everyone was saying their piece, save for a select few, namely; Delilah, Alistair, the newly returned Fabian, Levi, and even Anastasia.
Delilah was still grumbling about her defeat to Damon. Levi on the other hand, after witnessing the fight that had transpired between Damon and Rose, had come to accept the fact that both were way stronger than he was, and that his defeat was only fitting. That didn’t mean he had given up however, he still planned to become stronger than they were.
Fabian’s eyes looked different than before, though there was still arrogance in them, it was noticeably toned down. it hadn’t been long since he returned from the infirmary. After all, his injuries weren’t that severe unlike that of Elsa, Rose, or even Damon himself.
As if his defeat against Alistair hadn’t been a big enough of a blow to his ego, he happened to witness the second half or the fight between Damon and Rose. Though he hadn’t witnessed the first part, the state of the arena, and the state of the two combatants were more than enough to show him that he wouldn’t stand a chance against them.
It was incredibly vexing that the one termed as the crown jewel of this generation, the omega prodigy, was stronger than him. But two other individuals with the same physique rank as he were also stronger than him while also being in the same rank.
Questions began shooting off in fabian’s head. Had he ever been as talented as he was told? Or was it that these people were just on another level entirely? If it was the former, then did he have any right to look down on those of the common class? If his belief in his talent and strength were what made him look down on them, what right did he have to look down on them?
But if it were the latter, and it was these people that were on an entirely different level, then he’d have to get stronger, and reach their level.
Alistair on the other hand, had his gaze fixed on Damon’s unscathed figure, or rather, that of his reflection. Alistair was almost certain that if it him who faced that red orb Rose shot at Damon, he wouldn’t be able to escape it. Especially when the orb’s speed was absurd.
Even if Alistair was able to dodge the bead itself, it would be absolutely impossible for him to escape its blast radius, and that was putting into account, the state boost from his ability.
But what was making him frown wasn’t Rose at all, instead it was Damon.
After a seemingly intense all out fight, Damon suddenly revealed that he hadn’t been going all out at all, and then proceeded to knock out Rose in one blow. Alistair felt that out of all the combatants today, Damon was the most dangerous of them all, even more so than Alistair himself, and Anastasia, who his master has claimed to be more powerful than him.
’I’ll be facing him in the finals, his ability is going to be a pain.’ Alistair has also noticed that some of the reflection Damon made were stronger than Damon himself, whilst some were weaker. The fact that Damon could just pop out clones stronger than himself seemed too absurd, there had to be a limit, or at least a condition. It was just that no one has found it out yet.
’I’ll figure out what it is during our fight.’ Alistair thought to himself.
Anastasia meanwhile, stared down at Damon adopting her indifferent demeanor. No one dared to disturb her especially after witnessing her cruelty in the fight against Elsa. Not even Delilah who had been making effort to be best friends with her.
’Like I thought, he’s going to be the most troublesome opponent in this tournament.’ Anastasia sighed, cursing the reason why everything must be a pain.
She had been hoping to just go down there, crush down Alistair, and then Damon just as easily, and she could call it a day. But now, she reckoned Damon must have planned something. From her observation, a reflection stronger than Damon himself would have to take more aether, so for him to have been able to make three on demand, spoke of how well prepared he was.
Sometimes she kind of felt his entire ability set was a cheat., and that was coming from someone with an Omega ranked physique related to time, one of the fundamental laws of existence. Damon’s ability provided multitasking, intelligence gathering, a power boost, and most importantly, escape.
’Could it be that he also posseses an Omega ranked physique?’ she thought, but soon dismissed it. With the way Damon loved to subtly brag, or the way he wanted others to be stumped just so he could display his intelligence, he would have long revealed to the world he possessed such physique rank.
But then again, Anastasia herself hadn’t revealed to anyone else about the rank of her physique. Apart from herself, only two people in the whole of Nahaar knew about it, them being her mother, and her grandmother.
So it was safe to say, Damon was also the same, maybe his intelligence beat the need to brag. Stilk Anastasia couldn’t be sure unless she confirmed it, which would be harder than holding the weight of a mountain of Damon didn’t cooperate.
While the others were stuck in their own minds, Damon- the real one, was stuck under the harsh lights of a surgical table. Two women and a man had their brightly glowing hands hovering over his body. Any injury the lights from their hands touched would squirm like a can of worms before knitting itself together.
These trio were all healers, or more specifically, aetherials whose abilities were centered towards healing. Damon’s injuries had been too jarring for a normal healing potion to heal, hence he was also transported to the infirmary.
Under their dedicated healing, Damon injuries ceased to be. His melted facial features shed away, revealing a new pale skin that shone healthier than ever, the hole in his palm made by Rose’s dagger soon disappeared as of it was never there, and finally, his head that only had patches of his jet black hair, had regrown fully, maybe even a little longer than it was before.
Damon squirmed all through the healing. While it wasn’t painful, it was itchy as fuck.
The trio finally removed their hands away from Damon once he was fully healed.
”There, all done.” The male healer said with a bright smile.
”Thanks uhhhh…. I appreciate the healing.” Damon nodded, somewhat creeped out by the smile the healer was giving him. However, what Damon did next caused the trios eyes to widen.
Damon retrieved a tube filled with a glowing blue colored liquid, and chugged it down.
”Wait!” x3
”Eh?”
”You just got healed, you shouldn’t be taking aether recovering potions and should let your aether recover naturally by itself.” one of the two female healers explained.
”Oh… right.” Damon replied. Like hell he would let himself be below half his reserves when he would soon be facing either Anastasia or Alistair.
Meanwhile, back at the stands, the commotion from Damon’s dramatic victory had died down, the instructor waved Damon’s reflection back to the stands, and called out the next combatants.
”Our next match is between the golden boy himself, and the scarlet princess!” The instructor yelled.
”Alistair Von Drake vs Anastasia Necron.”
