Chapter 2: First Quest
Taking tiny steps he walked into the dark forest.
[Quest Started]
A red screen flashed in front of him showing him the quest has started.
’Well damn, I guess we really are doing this.’
Klaus sighed then walked deeper into the forest.
It was quiet, he was surrounded by so many trees he wasn’t even able to see the blue sky anymore. Only small amounts of moonlight pierced through the canopy.
He looked back at the village slowly disappearing behind him as he kept walking forward.
’Not like I know anyone.’
He shrugged then kept walking even deeper.
’Lets just do this..’
He looked around on the ground for a couple of seconds then grabbed a stick that looked sharp enough to stab.
’There cant be too many monsters right..?’ The stick felt light, it fit perfectly in his hands.
He swung it around a couple of times to test it and it actually was a perfect fit.
’Good enough for now.’
Time passed quickly as he kept walking, the entire forest was quiet and there was no sound whatsoever, no rustling leaves, no water, no birds, no animals, nothing at all. Just the eery dead silence. It felt suffocating.
“Fuck..”
As soon as he spoke up he heard the crunching of a stick behind him.
Instantly he turned and he noticed something standing in the shadow of a tree.
“Reveal yourse—” before he could even finish the sentence a creature dashed forward, it was small, green, and a small knife in his hand.
He couldn’t even finish analyzing it.
’Fuck, is that actually a goblin?!’ He raised the stick and he hit the goblin on the skull, knocking it out cold.
The small creature fell to the ground in the blink of an eye making a small thud.
“…”
He frowned and looked down at the goblin, then at the stick in his hands. Then at the goblin again…
’Seriously..? One shot?’
Sighing he poked the goblin a couple of times with the stick however it didnt react at all, so he just reached down and grabbed the small knife it used.
He remembered the red panel, and the reward.
’Lets get this over with.’
With a swift motion he stabbed the goblin in the head.
Purple blood started flowing out of the goblins head however Klaus pulled the knife out of it.
’I’ll probably need it,’ He wiped the knife onto the grass leaving purple stains on it, then he put it in his pocket.
However as he stood up a familiar red window popped up.
[Quest Complete]
[Pick one Grimoire]
’Pick?’
Three books appeared before him, all of them were different, no names, no information, nothing.
’So basically a gamble…?’
Klaus looked at the first one, it was a slim book, it looked pretty scorched an the cover seemed to have a flame logo on it.
’Probably something fire related,’ then he looked at the second one.
It had nothing on it, it was just a purple book.
’Okay…thats not really revealing at all,’ then he shifted to the last one, which caught his attention the most.
Pretty damn thick, it had some brass clasps and the cover was a library with a spiraling staircase.
’Definitely that one,’ he reached out without even hesitating further and grabbed the third book.
All of them instantly disappeared including the book in his hand and another panel appeared.
[Grimoire of Eternal Archive unlocked]
[Lvl: 1]
[Starting abilities unlocked:]
[- Familiar Summon]
[- Record Spell]
“Holy fuck..” he was about to reach out to touch the panel when he heard a loud howl from behind him deeper in the forest.
All the hair on his body stood and his spine and entire body went cold. His hands shook uncontrollably.
“Fuck this..”
So he did what every person would do with a brain in a horror movie.
He ran.
’What the hell was that,’ he kept running without ever looking back, in search of the village. However he could not find the exit to the forest at all…
’Where AM I,’ he looked around, still shaken, however all he could see were trees.
’I need help,’ he kept running around like an idiot without a brain, then he jumped into a bush, trying to hide from whatever had made the creepy sound.
’Eternal archive!’ He did what mages would do and called for his book, and luckily the book actually appeared in his palms, it automatically opened on the first page by itself and only the two abilities he unlocked were visible.
He tried turning a page or anything however he couldn’t at all, it wouldn’t budge.
’Familiar summon..?’
He smelled a burning scent and then a tiny flame started circling on the page of the book.
’The hell is this—’ then the flame shot up into the air like a flairgun exposing Klauss location and lighting the bush on fire.
“FUCK FUCK FUCK,” Klaus took his shirt off and slowly put the fire out. However now, he was cold as hell.
Then the flame descended directly in front of his eyes.
It was as small just like a fairy…just red. Small wings, and a red robe surroundings its small body, light reddish skin tone, red hair and red eyes.
“Pew.”
“…”
The familiar spoke and Klaus just stared at it dumbfounded.
“Pew pew peew!” It started flying around happily like it was enjoying the world and freedom however Klaus just stood there dumbfounded.
The fairy thing was just like a kid in a candy shop.
However the happiness didnt last long as the demonic howl from earlier sounded from behind them.
Klaus’s body shook instantly as his face and entire body went rigid.
’Im going to die again..’
They both turned around, and in front of them stood a gigantic wolf with demonic horns. Its eyes looked like hellfire as drool dripped from its mouth.
“Pew!!” The familiar pointed at the wolf smiling however Klaus didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
’We are so cooked.’
