Chapter 54: Cup of Tea
The tea warmed her throat as she swallowed her fourth cup down. Her insides felt warm already; however, despite that, she felt the urge to drink another cup.
“Maid, bring me a new one,” her rigid, cold voice echoed in the overly designed chamber as the maid rushed out without a word.
’Such imbeciles,’ she stood from her royal bed and looked in the mirror. She had some kind of a strange heart-shaped object in her hair, which she instantly ripped out.
’I told that wench to stop touching me in my dreams,’ she hadn’t noticed before since she had woken up recently. Her violet hair reached down to the ground as it fell behind her fragile legs. She wore a pure white pajama which highlighted her body and violet eyes. She seemed evil even in her reflection, a cold princess.
Her room had a blood-red ceiling and tiles on the ground. The walls were simply black, aligned with golden and red linen, and some horrific paintings of scary, dark houses.
The door swung open, and the maid came in shaking. “Lady Myrrava…here is your tea…” Myrrava instantly took it off the tray and took one sip. Her expression turned sour as anger was visible on it due to her twitching eyes.
She grabbed the cup and poured it on the maid’s face. “It’s cold…” Anger was genuinely visible in her voice as she smashed the cup onto the ground. Then she grabbed the shaking maid.
“Ugh—””
“Listen here, you bitch,” her violet eyes started spiralling as the maid seemed to be getting hypnotised as soon as she looked into them.
“I will have your entire bloodline killed,” despite that, her words shook the maid down to her core. “Your children, your parents, your brothers and sisters, their children, and their future children. I will make sure all of them die and suffer.”
The maid shook as tears started streaming down the corners of her eyes; however, she couldn’t say anything. She couldn’t resist. All she did was nod and accept her fate.
“I-I understand, my lady. I swear it won’t happen again!” As soon as she said that, Myrrava let go of her whilst sighing, and the maid instantly darted out of her room.
’How miserable, all the people here bore me,’ she looked out the window, seeing endless houses under her family’s castle, the poor kids playing on the streets, and the obsidian wall towering to protect their city from the outsiders.
She heard footsteps suddenly coming from the doorway, “Did you bring proper tea?”
She turned; however, it wasn’t the maid who stood there, but a person who resembled her a little too much for her liking.
“Haaah? Me? Bringing you tea? Have you lost your mind, little sis?” The boy chuckled as he took multiple steps forward, his royal attire reaching all the way to the ground. Contrary to her sister’s pajamas, he was way overdressed for a visit.
His violet hair and eyes resembled hers; however, they had less shine to them, less power embedded in them.
He saw the broken cup pieces on the ground, which were shattered in every direction. “Are you terrorising the mages again, huh? That’s no good, sis,” he sighed and walked next to her, looking out the window.
“I wasn’t expecting you, Kaelvarion,” his brother’s eyes twitched when she said his name.
“I told you to call me big brother.”
“Big brother, my ass,” she turned back towards the window and stared outside, the sun drawing shadows of the children still playing.
“Don’t you ever get bored?” she asked from her brother, who was also now looking at the children.
“I do, but we, as royals, have responsibilities we need to answer. I’m here because Father requested both of our presences,” as soon as he said that, she sighed. She already knew he wouldn’t visit her for no reason; no one would, no one liked being in her presence due to her affinity.
“Just leave. I’ll be down in a second,” he nodded instantly and took slow and cautious steps back, almost like he was scared of his own little sister.
’Will I ever meet someone who doesn’t get scared of me?’ After that pointless thought, she walked towards her wall and rang a hanging bell. Maids instantly dashed into the room on call like soldiers on duty.
—
After the maids had dressed her up, she exited the room, walking through the dark, blood-red hallways of their castle.
Paintings hung on the wall as she walked past without even bothering to spend a second looking at them.
They were family paintings, old ones, before she was a part of the family. As soon as she was born, they stopped making the paintings.
She wasn’t sure why, nor did she care at all.
She arrived at the end of the hallways and walked down a long, spiralling, dark staircase which seemed to lead to hell itself.
After a couple of minutes, she got down onto another hallway, which led her to a massive chamber.
In the chamber was a long table, the sort that would be described in books as the table of the house. At the direct end, seated with the king, her father, the ruler of their country, the one who wielded darkness as his ally, yet amazed by her daughter’s powers.
“Father, you requested my presence?” Myrrava’s tone was cold and empty, devoid of any emotion. Even the candle lights which enveloped the chamber flickered once she spoke up.
“Brother said you did. However, no one else is here,” All of the chairs around the table were empty, except for where her father was seated.
His long, curly black hair was chiselled below his crown, his long black beard reaching all the way to the midst of his torso, highlighting his violet eyes which were the same as her daughter’s.
“Myrrava, we need to talk.” His voice was deep, deep enough to be the leader of an entire army alone, and drive them into battle purely on just a couple of words.
“Then let’s talk,” She walked towards her own chair and took a seat, waiting to see what their conversation would unfold for her.
