Chapter 27: Tournament Finale (3)
Even if they were teammates, Klaus wouldn’t have mercy on them and let them win.
’That kid is probably watching us, just act normal,’ Klaus looked at Jen, who didn’t doubt him.
A red screen appeared in front of him as well, reminding him of the quest he had to complete and win.
All three kept looking back and forth between each other, however, the two girls seemed shaken.
“I-I’ll take third place,” Nyra looked at Klaus and put her hands up. “I can’t win against flames as an ice mage…” she laughed awkwardly. “The current me can’t.”
’End her quickly,’ Klaus didn’t hesitate and took her up on the offer. Jen seemed to hesitate for a second, then raised her hands.
“See you on the outside—”
“Flaming Sword of the Sun,” the blazing sword materialised above Jen and launched at Nyra, instantly cutting her body in half and making her disappear from the field.
Seeing this, Evaline just stood still awkwardly, not knowing what to say as their eyes met.
“I give up as well. Second place is good for me,” she laughed. Despite being a fighting maniac, she had a brain. Knowing that Klaus can teleport, she knew she couldn’t defeat him, not to mention hit him.
“Good choice,” Klaus nodded and stepped forward. Since Evaline was a fire mage, Klaus doubted that Jen could finish her instantly, so he did it himself.
“This is going to hurt,” he grabbed her hair, making Evaline stumble forward. ’Lightning Arc,’ the lightning directly rushed into her skull and brain, deep frying it like she was a chicken. Slowly, after Klaus let go, her senseless body fell to the ground and vanished.
“Well, all done,” he seemed happy. However, the quest wasn’t ending, nor did he get teleported out.
“You were right,” Jen looked around though, trying to search for anyone, but she couldn’t see anyone at all.
’It’s not over,’ he looked around and a black-haired boy appeared metres away in front of him.
’I was right,’ the boy seemed to be smiling ear to ear as he looked at Klaus and Jen.
“What a petty trick,” Klaus chuckled as he kicked a rock. In honesty, he was ashamed of his lack of knowledge and understanding of Matthias’s skill, so he didn’t expect something like this.
“Afterimage,” Matthias grabbed the hilt of his sword. “It’s a spell that creates another version of me, which I can control from a distance away.”
“I see. Pretty nasty spell if you ask me.”
“It is, but what I said was true, and it still is,” Matthias looked up at the floating Jen. “I cannot win since you have her. Why don’t you make it a fair fight and—”
“And disperse her? No thanks,” Klaus chuckled as their eyes met. Matthias became shocked for a second, then laughed as well.
“Well, all I needed was second place for that,” he seemed to cover his mouth after he finished his sentence. His expression became regretful, like he had said something he shouldn’t have.
’End him,’ Klaus signalled to Jen, who didn’t hesitate. “Flaming Sword of the Sun,” the ginormous sword appeared again. He was like an officer on call duty.
“See you outside, my rival,” he laughed as the sword pierced his body, making it disappear again.
“How do we know it was real—”
Cutting Jen off, a red screen appeared in front of Klaus.
[Quest Complete]
But before he could continue and choose his reward, the terrain changed, and his vision slowly changed.
’The hell…’
He stood on a podium in front of hundreds of students, with the headmaster next to him, who just smiled awkwardly. Jen sat on his shoulder, completely silent as she looked around at the crowd.
Klaus looked around to see Evaline and Nyra in the crowd, but he didn’t see them. The only person he saw was Matthias, who waved at him with a smile.
’That creep…so they saw everything?’ He wanted to facepalm but managed to resist the urge as the headmaster cleared his throat.
“Dear students, we have a clear winner!” As soon as the headmaster said those words, the crowd erupted into cheers, whistles, and claps, one after the other.
Klaus looked at the hundreds of students in front of him and wanted to sigh, ’Is this really necessary…’
“With this,” he touched Klaus’s outfit, which returned to its original state before it was burned. However, a new rune started forming on the wrist of his outfit, “You will have access to Enterion’s Library, which will allow you to expand your knowledge to its peak!”
“!!!”
Klaus smiled like a child who had been given candy and started shaking the headmaster’s hand and bowing frantically.
’What an opportunity to become the strongest,’ he laughed inside his head as he let go of his hand.
The headmaster cleared his throat, and his voice sounded as if it came from every single direction at once, “Let the feast begin!” He laughed as tables of food appeared in front of the students, providing different and delicious treats to everyone present.
“Classes start tomorrow,” he sneaked that in quickly and quietly, which made many students sigh and laugh in pain at the information.
As Klaus was about to step down from the podium, the headmaster grabbed onto his shoulder, “Come with me for a minute.”
’Oh oh,’ both Jen and Klaus thought, synchronised as headmaster Marcus dragged Klaus away into a room behind the other children.
’The hell,’ Klaus stopped dead in his tracks despite being pulled, not because he wanted to act out, he just felt an enormous amount of bloodlust and mana pressure coming from the other side of the door.
“Headmaster—”
“Don’t worry,” he opened the door, and seven figures stood inside, who seemed to be waiting just for his arrival.
’Are those the teachers?’ He couldn’t tell based on their outfits and mana pressure, one could say they looked like killers in disguise.
“Finally, the brat is here!”
“It’s good to meet you, sir Klaus.”
“Finally in person! Haha!”
“Mage brat, come in,” a gigantic man waved his hands, however, instead of looking welcoming, the veins of his neck bulged out of his body.
’Well, fuck…’
