The fifth ruin was another Seraph production plant that made artillerists in particular. I retrieved the “spawners” and a quick rewrite of code later and replacement of the “spawners” I now had a nice twelve Seraph artillerists under my command. Really I thought about perhaps sending these bots to the league to bolster their forces but chose not to. It wouldn’t do to have the midgets start worshiping the things rather than put them to use. I considered perhaps drafting a schematic for a better bot and having a “spawner” bring them into mass production but chose not to in the end.-
Not because it wasn’t a good idea but because I just didn’t have a fucking use for so many bots of that sort. My ever growing amount of refinement furnaces had plenty of bots assigned to them and bots assigned to guarding those bots even more so. Seraphs and Seraph adjacent bots were more or less location based defensive creations. They were good if you wanted a single area protected but that was frankly it. Seeing as I had no set base of operation that kinda made them pointless to me.-
Like sure I used my house as my base but that was literally something I carried around on me so it was easier to just pack it up than set guards about. I still fully intended to create a highly advanced bot however for myself since I did have the EECM now. That was for later though as right now I was going to the sixth ruin that the league had found for me. This was the one that had been occupied by the bandit clan that turtled up a bit ago. They didn’t exist anymore. Turns out the two midgets I had ascended to cover burrowing and aerial combat had rendered the big ass gate moot as they went over and through it before letting the others in.-
The Doormaker/TM hadn’t even gotten any use so I just sighed at the wasted gift but chose to ignore it. I couldn’t help but click my tongue in annoyance at the state of the ruin when I arrived. The bandits hadn’t been gentle with the place as the stones were covered in gunk of questionable origin and spray paint. Some places had rebar stabbed into it for no fucking reason and others had been treated as latrines. –
I had hopped that something was untainted and worth my time here but after thoroughly searching I left disappointed as all historical traces had been ruined by the bandits who saw something they didn’t understand and chose to bust it up as a result. Frankly I was glad the league had summarily executed the lot of the fuckers due to the sheer waste they had caused. The seventh and most recently found ruin was also where the league was currently camped out. It was a passage that went deep into a desert discovered by some sand pirate way out in the middle of nowhere named Captain Blade.-
Dude was long dead by some sort of disease but he apparently stashed a bunch of loot in a place guarded by a terrible leviathan. As it turns out said leviathan ACTUALLY existed and after the league tracked down all the pieces of the good captains compass and put it at the top of the lighthouse the ironic “X” marking the spot of the treasure was merely a location the leviathan stayed. Vater and a few dozen other midgets had gotten swallowed by the thing that looked like a sandworm and fought their way out of it’s gut revealing the beasts lair.-
It was an underground cavity beneath the desert that as it turned out was an Eridian ruin. A very fucking special one at that. The leviathan itself apparently didn’t want people in it’s lair(fair enough I suppose) and ended up killing most of the escaped midgets while Vater and a couple others managed to escape and find the ACTUAL entrance/exit to the underground cavity that didn’t need you to get eaten by a vault monster level beast disguised as something it definitely wasn’t.-
Oh yeah the leviathan was not a fucking sand worm at all but a multistory tall monster with no eyes and a gaping fang filled maw at the top of it’s shoulders that had a long sandworm esque tongue with a another mouth on it that it used to hunt apparently. The main body of the beast however was a sort of massive maggot centaur nightmare thing with a worm-like lower body and stiff torso with two arms attached the the sides. Arms that were giant fuck off blade/fins that meant business. Judging from the description of the thing I was fairly certain it was a vault monster that had been released at some point but got trapped under the sands in this cavity due to it’s massive size.-
I might be wrong of course since the planet is covered in the skeletons of massive beasts but as far as I knew none matched this things description. When I arrived at the dying town of Oasis I wasn’t surprised to find that most of the space was being used by the league. The rest of the residents were all save for a handful dead already from dehydration.-
Apparently the town was a fairly successful and even normal one surprisingly despite the sand pirates that were the areas version of bandits. That changed when the water source dried up and no alternative was found. Most of the residents left to become sand pirates for survival while the few that stayed began to die one by one of dehydration as the little water left was quickly running out. That was when the league showed up bringing with them the mad creativity of the bandit clans of Pandora. The water was found in a cave system and through questionable piping flowed into the town. –
Of the handful of residents left a couple even chose to join the league in worship of me. Even though the rest didn’t join the league they were extremely grateful for the leagues aid and played nice even if they thought the midgets insane. That idea died however when I showed up and they learned that the “great god demon” actually existed and was genuinely powerful. I paid them no mind however and followed Vater to the disguised entrance to the cavity the leviathan was in. Once I saw the beast for myself I was instantly impressed.-
It was larger than Crawmerax by about half and while it’s grey hard skin looked like an easy target I could tell it wasn’t due to the few glowing blue “weak spots” on it. Any creature with obvious weak points like that was usually well armored in every other location. Seeing it myself I realized the beast was not centaur like but basically a giant worm that’s front was so large it looked like it had a torso. If I had to make a real comparison it was a caterpillar with water movement in mind given it’s fins instead of legs.-
Killing it was pathetically easy as I just blew out the glowing blue parts and the beasts blue blood flowed out so freely it simply died of blood loss. The lifeforce and traits however well made up for the disappointment as this thing was DEFINITELY a vault monster level existence. [Amphibious lungs-Uncommon grade], [Water resistance-Rare grade], [Titanism-Legendary grade], [Biometallic bones-legendary grade], [Supreme vitality-Legendary grade] and 273,719 lifeforce. Naturally I took everything.
