Finding Sanctuary proved easy from the air as it was the largest structure for quite some distance. Thanks to the city wide shield none of the buildings were covered in snow so it stood out like a sore thumb. When I landed road outside the shield the ex-lancemen in red armor turned defensive and called for reinforcements as they pointed a Drake brand gun at me. It was amusing really and I just casually walked up to the shield and then through it before they yelled out warnings.-

‘They’re disciplined at least, points there I suppose.’ I thought with an approving nod without stopping.

They opened fire but must have had looks of horror when the bullets struck me and flattened harmlessly before falling to the ground. I chuckled at this and simply walked right up to the thick metal door barrier to the city proper and casually patted one of the red armored men on the soldier.

“Good effort but ultimately pointless.” I said before hopping over the barrier.

As it turned out Roland’s forces weren’t as thin as I thought as I landed on the ground of the large circular concrete entrance to the city for vehicles to fully turn around only to be met with rows of ex-lance with Drake brand guns pointed at me.

“Hold fire! Friendly! I repeat friendly! Stand down!” A familiar voice yelled out as I observed the set up without a care.

Sure enough Roland moved up from behind the soldiers in his armor I made for him that had been painted red and black with a crimson lance emblem with a crossed out mark on it.

“Alex what the hell are you doing here?” He demanded with an exasperated tone.

“I happened to be in the neighborhood and thought to drop by, say hi. You know how it is. I see you got my gift and put it to good use.” I said motioning to the shield overhead and the many guns still nervously pointed at me.

“If you hadn’t sent them we would have lost a lot more people. I thought you’d cut us off after we rejected your offer though. We all did.” He said seriously.

“What!? Do you really think so little of me? You wound me sir! You wound me deep. I was just really fucking busy is all. Running a galaxy spanning corporate business is no cake walk, even had a brief not-war with Maliwan before they found out why not to do that.” I said dramatically.

“Heard about that, crushed their fleet of fifty warships with a single one of your own. You wouldn’t have happened to bring one of those with you did you?” he asked hopefully but I shook my head.

“Took my house to get back, Fyrestones been taken over with trash though. Kinda annoying to be honest since I spent a LOT of effort getting the trash piles gone.” I said slightly miffed even thinking about it.

“That’d be Jack’s work, turns out leaving him alive was a huge mistake.” he said bitterly.

“Now who could have possibly called that? Wait! I did!” I said gloating slightly.

“I already have to hear about it all the time from Brick and Mordecai, I don’t need it from you too.” Roland said with a sigh.

“Truly the best of bros, they even say I told you so when i’m not around to do it.” I said with a grin.

“Seriously though why are you on Pandora?” Roland asked.

“Heard Jack was pushing the league out of the Eridian ruins I had them dig up for me. Naturally I had to come and make things a little difficult for him. Honestly a little success conquering the planet and he thinks he’s unstoppable. Needed to remind him who I am and what i’m about.” I said casually.

“So basically just you being petty then?” he said with a flat tone.

“Exactly! It’s so nice to talk with someone who gets it. Really you can’t even begin to imagine how sad it is when all of my people are so plain, except Tannis but she’s an outlier.” I complained.

“Well since you’re here I suppose I can show you around. Everyone else get back to your posts.” he said and the soldiers scattered.

“Scooters over there, Moxxi’s in that direction and Marcus is over that way. You seem to spend most of your time coming and going from over that way though.” I said pointing in different ways.

“How do you know that?” he asked surprised.

I tapped my nose “I can smell it. There’s a lot of scents but you four I either long ago memorized or are so unique I couldn’t forget even if I wanted to.” I said with a shrug.

“I forgot you could do that. Just one of those things we never really used before.” he said with a slight nod. “Still you’re right on all accounts. Scooters workshop is that garage there, Moxxi set up a bar over that way and Marcus a gun and ammo shop that way. Zed’s over here too, just behind Scooters garage. Brick stays out near thousand cuts running interference while Mordecai is out wandering all over gathering intel on Hyperion’s movements and transports.” he said as we started walking.

“And Lil is out dealing with the non-league bandits” I said making him flinch.

“She’s dead.” he said firmly.

I just gave him a raised eyebrow and a look that screamed “do I look that fucking stupid to you?”.

“Officially she dead.” He said with a sigh and I chuckled.

“If you are worried about someone listening in you don’t need to. I’ve been running a jammer on comms since I arrived outside Sanctuary. My own patent.” I said showing off the small black box with a red light glowing on it inside the right breast area of my coat.

“You have been busy. You got any extras on you? Would be nice not to have to watch what I say all the time.” He asked hopeful.

I casually took out the spare I always kept in case of emergencies and tossed it to him.

“Real easy to use. Flip the switch and it turns on automatically, flip it again and it turns off. So long as that lights on it’s active, light goes out it’s not working anymore. Battery life of about three months if you only turn it on during conversation, two weeks at constant drain.” I explained calmly.

“Got it. User friendly too. Must be popular.” he said with an appreciative nod.

I shrugged “It does alright but most who buy it are on the shady side of things type so not exactly a household item.” I said honestly.

“Makes sense. But yeah, Lil’s been running around under an alias dealing with the bandits not from the league. She tried to make a run at Jack when he showed up to destroy New Haven but almost really died when Wilhelm fought her under Jacks orders. He’s more machine than man at this point and monstrously strong. Brick can fight him evenly but that’s it.” Roland said darkly.

“Sounds about right. Almost full transitioning into a robot should in theory make someone with his skill at least a whole level higher than all of you except Brick. I played around with the idea myself but never went through with it since finding willing volunteers who weren’t nuts was a bit too hard.” I said unsurprised.

“Saw the prosthetic you made for Hammerlock and wondered how bad we would be screwed if Wilhelm had something like that.” he said with a slight shudder.

“Oh you’d be royally fucked in that case. Hammerlocks stuff isn’t just nearly identical in shape to a normal limb but has built in stealth tech and mechanical strength actuators that let him punch and kick his way through steel like it’s paper.” I said frankly.
