The thing couldn’t be outlasted if the mere fragment of it’s traits I got before had [Agelessness] among them. You also couldn’t starve it since it apparently consumed all forms of energy and matter. As for injuring it? Forget it! It was the size of a planet and any conventional attacks would at most tickle it, assuming it didn’t just straight up eat the stuff. In theory it could be countered by siren powers since they are also aspects of the universe but most powers were rather limited in scale by design. –
I could possibly achieve the scale needed but the sheer amount of lifeforce needed to fuel it would be mind boggling to say the least. Millions of lifeforce wouldn’t cut it. For something like that I’d need maybe billions of lifeforce, a truly insane figure. That is unless one of the two unknown siren powers includes one that could skip all the foreplay in theory and directly kill the thing. Even then I’d have to find the user of that power and then make a copy of it to pull it off. All in all I could only hope against hope the cage held the beast indefinitely.-
Finally I turned my attention to this vault the league had found out past the northern shelf. I reached the place using my wings after a few hours of high speed flight with a brief pitstop to kill a strange Bullymong that could create ice that I took the traits from and added it to my [Embodiment of destruction] trait. Additionally it would make for a nifty party trick as I could chill beers by touching them. Also the resistance to ice aspect of it patched up that hole in my defenses so I was now completely covered for all types of elemental damage.-
“You can all leave now, I’ll take it from here.” I said calmly to the league members shivering in the cold as they guarded the frozen island when I landed.
They didn’t need to be told twice either as they packed up what little they had and got on those questionable at best boats of theirs and sailed for the mainland.
‘Now then lets have a wee peak at this vault.’ I thought as I walked into the excavated path into the icecap on top of this island.
It was easy to see how this ice formed over time as the sea spray met the cold air and over time froze into this massive icecap. If you didn’t know better it’d be easy to thing the place an iceberg but it was actually an island since there was stone under all that ice. The path that had been carved through the ice to the ruin below was rough and more than a bit narrow so I flamed it up a bit to widen it out. I didn’t need oxygen to survive anymore so I didn’t mind thinning the air supply to provide me more walking room.-
Once I reached the actual ruins though things widened up so I didn’t need to do any more which let the air circulate and fix the imbalance. The ruins weren’t a complex set at all but a long hall with Eridian statues holding spears lining the sides with a hole in the ceiling from where the fisherman fell in. At the far end was a stone archway that lead to the vault chamber. There was nothing special about the ruins otherwise so I ignored it all and walked into the vault chamber.-
I wasn’t sure if it was intentional but the whole place was open aired, or at least it would have been if a sort of curved dome of jagged ice didn’t form a ceiling overhead. This was strange because the ice should have filled this whole place first before rising up yet it made a dome ceiling capping it instead. Other than that this chamber was a massive round room with no walls and the standard vault symbolled stone block floors. At the end was the absolutely destroyed vault archway with fragments of it crumbled on the ground and barely more than the base of the arch intact.-
This always confused me since I knew for a fact the Eridians had way better materials to make these things out of so there was no reason why they’d used stone like this beyond maybe personal preference. Whatever the case I flew up to the ice over head and melted a hole through it and shot into the sky. I needed to charge the key to open this vault and didn’t have nearly enough energy for it. I briefly considered going to nibble on the wreckage of the Helios station but chose not to lest I make Jack mad for no good reason.-
Instead I helped myself to the all you can eat space trash buffet floating in orbit over Pandora. The fact that I devoured enough of it to noticeably improve the signal on Pandora’s surface by the end wasn’t important. What IS important is that the key was charged and I was sitting pretty at a satisfying 2,300,994 lifeforce after I was done. I didn’t even bother trying to fly back and simply teleported into the chamber. Really had to admit that Lil’s powers were great for traveling on a dime as they cost barely anything to move massive distances.-
That aside I walked over to the conical hole in the floor and pulled out the Pandoran key. I didn’t even need to actively put it in as it floated out of my hand and over the hole before shooting down and snapping into place with a loud “CLICK!”. Immediately the broken vault archway pieces began to defy gravity and rise to repair the archway fully. Even the pieces reduced to sand rose up and settled on the edges of the pieces that had them eroded off.
