“Not used to having to tone down the salaciousness are you? Not judging or anything just think it’s funny is all.” I said with a chuckle.

she rolled her eyes “My usual clientele are of a more… mature stature.” she said with a hint of teasing.

“I’m plenty mature, even have a bombshell girlfriend. Another siren to boot.” I countered.

“Please, you likely haven’t even held hands much less anything after that.” she said with a scoff.

“On the contrary. I actually have to limit her to just kissing and cuddling.” I said with a slight complaint.

“How old is she?” Moxxi asked curiously while wiping away the blood on the counter.

“Just turned fifteen, not that you could tell with the way she looks. Might pass for eighteen if you didn’t know better.” I said pulling up a photo of me with Maya sitting under a tree on Athenas.

“Not bad at all kid. Got good taste at least.” She said with an approving nod. “That you without your mask?” she then asked.

“Yep, not the friendliest mug for conversation hence the mask.” I said lifting my mask to prove my point.

“Not that bad. Tattoos are a bit much but that’s not really something you can fix is it?” she asked and I shook my head.

“Tied to my powers, it’s why they glow when I use them. The amount of them is my fault though since I keep stealing siren powers for myself. Got three at the moment, four once I copy Lil’s. Get more tats automatically when I grab more powers.” I said putting my mask back down.

“Sounds rough.” she said sincerely.

“It’s not that bad. Never put much effort into my appearance anyways. So long as I’m not hideous I can live with being mostly green.” I said with a shrug.

“BANG!”

The door slammed open as Brick kicked it in and my friends walked into the bar.

“Sup bitches!” he said with a grin.

“You know you’re paying for the door right?” Moxxi asked killing his mood immediately.

“Aw damn it!” he cursed.

“You did that to yourself big guy.” Mordy said patting his shoulder. 

“You want to make introductions or should I?” I asked Moxxi casually.

“Names Moxxi and this is my bar. I also run the Underdome.” she said with a small curtsey.

“Mordecai and this is Bloodwing.” “TZEERR!” Mordy and blood introduced themselves.

“I’m Brick, How much for the door?” Brick said with a laugh.

“Roland.” Roland said calmly.

“Lilith, Alex cause you any trouble before we showed up?” Lil said.

“A slight misunderstanding but nothing we couldn’t clear up easily enough.” Moxxi said with a shrug.

“Oi! I only had issues when we met Pierce and that’s mostly because she started it!” I said defending myself.

“Yeah and things are still uneasy between us. Better safe than sorry.” Roland pointed out and could really argue with that.

“Right, well introductions done we can finally get down to business. Some cuck by name of Shank….” I started only to be interrupted.

“Mister Shank.” Moxxi corrected me.

“What?” I asked confused.

“He insists on being called mister Shank. Never understood why but that’s just how it is.” she said with a shrug.

“Right well the dude has taken Athena, which is downright pathetic of her by the way, and is now holding her captive for some fucking reason so now we have to play the part of rescuers.” I said casually.

“She killed a lot of them before they got her you know.” Moxxi pointed out defending Athena.

“I ate the bodies remember? The reason I said it was pathetic is because she was “supposedly” the best Atlas crimson assassin alive at the moment and yet didn’t understand she was fucked and book it to meet elsewhere but stood her ground. That sound like a very assassin-y thing to do?” I asked and she opened her mouth to argue before closing it when she realized I wasn’t wrong.

Don’t get me fucking wrong I respect the body count but the key point here is she should have easily understood she wasn’t going to win and then left instead of allowing herself to be worn down and summarily captured.-

You could maybe argue that she was trying to protect Moxxi but even that fell apart as the bandits stopped coming after nabbing her. Moxxi was clearly never in much danger to begin with as she just wasn’t the target. In the end it simply came down to poor choices by Athena that left us with even more work to do. At least that’s what it looks like at the moment but we’ll see. –

“Do we even know where this Mr. Shank is keeping her?” Roland asked seriously.

“Here, I’m sending you the coordinates for a way into his base, place by name of Lockdown palace. You’ll have to fight your way to her though. And do me a favor and kill Mr. Shank for me won’t you?” Moxxi said as we got our minimap updated.

I pulled out a bottle of my tequila from my inventory and set it on the counter.

“For the door.” I said before leaving the bar.

I vehicled up with Brick and Mordy in a monster barely since I could just hold onto the frame. The location of the base was exact fucking opposite to the direction we had to come from T-bone junction to get to Moxxi’s. My friends had already cleared out the bandits camped out here so we drove by while I casually slurped up that juicy lifeforce. The target location was the old prison that had been taken over by the inmates under Mr. Shank and the only way in was apparently a big ass ramp by an outcrop. As if that wasn’t bad enough there was TWO more checkpoints set up by Atlas we had to go and lower as well as a whole stretch of highway closed off to vehicles using fucking storage crates to block the way.-

The first checkpoint was about the same difficulty as the previous one I took down and even had an assassin group show up only to die in no time at all. None of my friends had gotten rusty in our brief lull as there were always plenty of bandits to kill. Once the way was open I yoinked the lifeforce and dropped gear before we moved on to the blocked off area that we chewed through like wet bread.
