“You have two siren powers!?” she exclaimed in shock.
“That is literally what I just said, yes. At some point I’d like to make a copy of yours as well.” I admitted freely.
“And i’m just supposed to beli…!” she started to say but stopped when I phase locked the air hockey table.
“I have no reason to lie when I can easily prove everything I’ve said. That said I won’t be making a copy of your powers anytime soon. I don’t even need to fucking look to know I can’t afford it right now.” I said with a shrug.
“And why’s that?” Roland asked more curious than anything.
“Well Maya’s powers cost me a million units of lifeforce to acquire and on top of that physically hurt to take in. Felt like I was trying to swallow a planet to be fucking honest. That part aside I have less than a quarter million units of lifeforce at the moment so if the prices were the same, which I highly doubt, I am not even close to being able to make a copy of it.” I said honestly.
“Man this is all nuts you know that right?” Mordy asked and I nodded.
“Yep! So now that we’ve gotten my story out of the way who wants the grand tour of my house? I’ll even let you check out my vault keys!” I offered with a grin.
“I call top bunk!” Brick said and I chuckled.
“It’s not a sleepover mate, I’m just showing you all the cool stuff this place has.” I said amused.
The rest of the group was also down to see what my place had to offer. I started with the food maker thing that Bricks eyes lit up after understanding what it did. It was hilarious to see the sad puppy look he got when I explained it was still on cooldown and couldn’t be used right now. I showed off the shower and bathroom and Lilith immediately called dibs on using it first. Not that I could blame her as it wasn’t exactly easy to stay your freshest on Pandora and we’d barely been here for that long. The storage rooms didn’t really interest them all that much other than the one with the guns and vault keys in them.-
“So this things a vault key? Seems kinda flimsy.” Brick said as he picked up the Athenas key and swung it around.
“It’s anything but. Vault keys are one of the hardest to damage things in the six galaxies. Well that is unless you are a siren or are using Eridian tech meant to take things apart.” I said and he clearly didn’t believe me as he pulled Mordy’s sniper off his back and shot the thing to no effect.
“That enough proof for you?” I asked amused at his antics.
“Seems legit.” he said while giving Mordy back his sniper.
“What are your plans for all those guns you got?” Roland asked curiously as he looked at the shelves of guns in that storage room.
I had each type of gun organized by quality, effect and power in their own places with the Nidhogg rocket launcher being in it’s own special place that I had reserved for legendary items.
“Not much really beyond gathering a nice sized armory in case I ever needed such a thing. It’s not likely but you never know.” I said honestly with a shrug.
“So you wouldn’t mind if we helped ourselves right?” Lilith asked with a glint in her eyes.
“ONE, you all can each take one gun. Not the legendary though, that’s mine and you can’t have it.” I said rolling my eyes.
Lilith didn’t hesitate to grab a Epic quality fire Maliwan SMG. Brick abstained since he preferred using his fists. Mordy put away his old sniper for a new Rare quality Jakobs one with a five times scope. Roland eyed the Nidhogg but an intense glare from me dissuaded him from getting any funny ideas and settled for a Epic quality Atlas assault rifle. After that we moved on to the crafting room which opened a whole new conversation.-
“What’s that glowing ball?” Brick asked curiously pointing at the seraph core.
“Eridian seraph core, the power supply for the robots the Eridians used to guard their stuff. That one I got from the belly of the bug vault monster I killed, it’s currently recharging.” I answered simply.
“What are you going to do with it?” Lilith aske as she looked it over and even poked it.
“Originally I thought to make a badass robotic butler that it would power but that hope died when I realized finding an A.I to match that body was a fools errand. Now I plan to use it to power a gun once I get some more of the metal the Eridians used for their shit.” I said a little sad.
“Didn’t you say you had all the building knowledge of the Eridians, couldn’t you just make more metal?” Mordy asked confused.
“I said I had all the ENGINEERING knowledge of the Eridians, you know, guns, shields, vehicles, machinery, that kinda thing. I don’t have the knowledge on the metals they used or their technological know how either. Sure I could tell you how they made their tech shit but if you wanted to know how it did what it did you are out of luck.” I said more than a little bitter about it.-
“That’s rough man. Tell you what, you make us something badass and we’ll help you get that metal, deal?” Mordy offered and I grinned.
“Deal!” I agreed in a heartbeat.
Why wouldn’t I when it would basically just be me making something for friends at that point after they helped me get the materials for it? It was a win win type deal where we both walk away happy in the end. We moved on after that to the menagerie where Brick and Mordy both fangirled out over my dragon egg that was starting to get close to hatching if the signals the unborn creature was sending me was any indication.-
“Not gonna lie, that’s pretty cool!” Lilith said impressed.
“Yeah, I can’t wait until it hatches! I really want to know what it will look like after all those traits I gave it.” I said excitedly.
“I bet it’ll be quite something.” Roland acknowledged with a small smile of his own.
“Holy shit I think that’s the first time i’ve seen you smile since we met!” I exclaimed and he scowled.
“Look what you did, it’s gone now!” Lilith complained playing along.
“Might never see it again man, not cool.” Mordy joined in and Roland looked away with a slightly embarrassed look.
After that I showed off the gardens which they all collectively found boring and so we moved on to the sim room which they all voted to try out immediately. I immediately set it to full on horde levels of warfare with whole ass legions coming after them while I sat back and watched the chaos. They had a blast even though they “died” within ten minutes from sheer overwhelming numerical advantage.-
“Be ha honest. That wasn’t ha the lowest ha setting was it?” Roland asked panting in exhaustion.
I snickered “Nah, that was the third highest setting. The two after that simulate entire planets of foes coming to get that ass, that setting was merely a continents worth.” I said highly amused at how ragged they were from a mere ten minutes of that setting.
I myself had a record of thirty two minutes after which I got blown the fuck up with heavy ordinance. I’m good but not even I can dodge mortar strikes very well. Still I can’t say their score was bad at all as the last three settings were straight up swarm tactics with the enemy not valuing their comrades or own lives at all.-
“That. Was. AWESOME!” Brick said with a massive grin despite being just as tired as the others.
“Not gonna lie that was kinda fun.” Lilith said smiling as well.
Finally we moved on to the teleporter room where I had to physically restrain Brick to keep him from teleporting us all over the place. Once the tour was done we all agreed to call it a day as going off of Pandora day cycles was a fools errand since the days were eighty three hours long.-
They crashed in my guest rooms and we got up eight or so hours later ready to get stuff done though Brick wasn’t an early riser at all. Roland and Lilith had some coffee but Brick took an energy drink and Mordy a can of beer. Far be it from me to judge how someone wakes up but beer was definitely not on my list of things I thought of. Once we left my house I put it away and we went to check the bounty board for some jobs.-
There were two waiting for us with each having an echo number to get the details from the ones who posted it.
“Hey, you the ones killin all the crap when people ask? The Catch-A-Ride near Fyrestone is more busted than my momma’s girly parts. Really ‘preciate you takin a poke at that.. Uh, the system, not my mom. Hotdog down a Skag den, know-what-I’m-sayin?” The poster of the first job said over the echo and I couldn’t help but be a little weirded out by the mom thing he said.
‘I can’t tell if he was trying be funny or genuinely meant what he said, and that bothers me.’ I thought with furrowed brows.
