So apparently, Anoteros had infiltrated the inner world of sorts of the former owner of this body, killing him in there was what had allowed Edrick to take full possession and awaken into the world Irandelle had shown him, taking the place of a certain Zixuan Elt, who thus ought to be the so-called minor antagonists of some random guy’s story.

The amount of information provided wasn’t quite as grand as expected, but it did carry a bit of value nonetheless, although mostly useless, it included this Zixuan fellow’s own memories and he certainly had difficulties remembering many things.

He was supposed to be a minor antagonist, but he seemed mostly pathetic and to have been prone to live his life in obscurity, it was a wonder how anyone could end up aggravating this guy enough for him to actually go against them.

This young man had been made to be the lord of the rather large, yet visibly poor town down below, his residence was built on the steep side of a cliff, providing a wide view of his subjects.

Never had he actually had any meaningful interactions with them, this lordship was clearly a sham aimed to sent away this failure of a son away from his family, far from the eyes, far from the heart as they said, Zixuan was no good at anything, so might as well have him be settled into some backwater area where no one would ever lay gaze upon the bloodline’s wretch.

‘Urgh, a shitty life for sure’ commented Anoteros to himself as he rummaged through drawers and cabinets, finally finding something that looked like a mirror, he expected to be greeted by the maw of whose neck he had broken minutes ago, but instead, it was another visage that appeared.

Not quite Zixuan, nor Edrick, some sort of mix that had replaced and changed quite a few things, first of all, the youth’s brown hair had turned the same deep black as Anoteros’s, his eyes had regained the apparently special purple, and his face overall was different, it wasn’t the charming fiend who had slayed and dominated many, but it was probably best.

The structure of this body would make it uncanny, no, fittingly to this long-armed flesh, he looked rather fierce, trying to smile, even his kindest ones were a bit unnerving as though unfit for this form.

‘Pretty good, I reckon’ overall, Anoteros was satisfied, even if someone changing looks overnight was a bit odd, he preferred this to being stuck with a face that could only belong to an idiot.

And what a humongous fool the former owner had been, not only was he not living up to what his constitution offered up, but as a reviled little wretch, once he had been sent away far away to play lord however he saw fit, instead of having fun and abusing this newfound authority, he just laid around, doing nothing.

Simply despicable, this dastard had clearly lacked a father figure to set him straight.

He was so unimportant that he hadn’t even been taught how to write, Edrick had much work to do to turn this forsaken body into the best version of itself.

‘Now, how does this work exactly? System?’ he thought, and the two-dimensional screen manifested into being, displaying quite a few things that held no importance at the moment, instead, he moved to the special function of this thing.

Irandelle had mentioned that the system was a cosmos-wide concept, that it was always there, in everything, just dormant in certain worlds.

But that was the regular form of it, Edrick seemed to have been given a little plus in that department.

Currently, there wasn’t much to see on that side either.

Then it went on giving him advice and explained what depravity was all about, clearly, it had no idea who it was talking to.

“Well then…” gathering air into his lungs, his voice sounded rather deep and raspy, not very pleasant to the ear, not loud, but at the perfect pitch to be troubling to listen for too long, certainly not very discreet so as to the sort of character Anoteros had, but once again, it was a good fit for his new physical form.

“Linmin!” he shouted like calling a dog he disliked back to the house.

Hurried footsteps approached the room, sliding the door open without even asking for permission, a young servant looked up at Anoteros whilst blurting out a sentence.

“What can I do for y- Lord Elt?” visibly confused, looking Edrick up and down with uncertainty.

“What happened to you, My Lord?”

Instead of answering, Anoteros also looked up the only servant at his disposal up and down, it was a youthful man, which had been raised alongside Zixuan to be his personal servant for life, another sign that this man had been despised from birth, what sort of parents would provide their son with a butler instead of a maid?

But they have been visionaries as Zixuan had been rather fond of Linmin anyways, the servant dyed his hair a bright yellow for some reason and carried a dao-styled sword, he sort of had to do everything from cooking to defending his lord.

“Mmh, not bad I guess”

“My lord?”

“Listen Linmin, we are going to have a change of pace, you and I” leaning forward, Edrick brought his face uncomfortably close, allowing for the servant to clearly see that his master had completely changed his appearance.

‘Did he finally start practising something? I don’t recall being told to buy any look-alteration method…’

“First of all, change of menu! I need to feast on flesh” Linmin nodded, nothing weird about wanting to eat better, and also, putting on some weight wouldn’t hurt the lord at all.

“Second, find me whatever it is that people have for equipment to build some muscles” also a good idea.

“Third, Zixuan Elt is dead, I now am Edrick Lucien Anoteros”

“Huh?”

“Fourth, buy me some more clothes other than those stuffy suits…”

“…And lastly, go and fetch me a wide-hipped woman in my town”

“But- My Lord, for what purpose?”

Edrick gave him a big smile.

“Do I need to spell it out? If you don’t want to, it’s fine, you can do the job intended for her”

“I would never refuse any order!” he yelled before running away like a dog on a slippery floor.

Edrick took off the top of his clothes, letting his skin breath a little, throwing them on the floor before starting to stretch, and then beginning to perform some pushups, curious as to what the current limit of this body was, as even though skinny and improperly fed, it did not seem particularly weak.

It had been a while since physical training had actually yielded improvements, having reached his peak early on in his previous life, age having done nothing but strip little bits of this work.

This was exciting, a new body, a new world, new rules… It was like rediscovering the joys of life, and just like his previous one, Anoteros was intent on enjoying it.
