“Hello, Miss Yaling. As you can imagine, you being called here today was not for just any random reason” Anoteros spoke first. He was sitting behind an ornate, wooden desk of high manufacture–Sitting in a chair that was similarly high-end and clearly of exceptional comfort.

Yaling nodded.

She had been giving something to cover herself up, which hadn’t happened in a long time… She had spent most of her time at the residence stark naked until now.

Rather than being given a chair, she was kneeling on the ground with her hands covering her knees, listening attentively to the patriarch’s words. As the man of the house, Edrick’s words were law here, not to mention that with his status, his words might even be law in front of the actual law as well…

He was smoking a thick cigar stuffed with medicinal herbs, drawing on it for an awkwardly long period of time in between sentences, observing Yaling the entire time.

“Don’t be afraid, Yaling. I called you here today because I already have something in mind for you… I believe that you have a place as a maid in this residence” he smiled as he saw her gaze brighten.

“It’s good to know that you value this opportunity… You see, being a part of my residence is a privilege. I don’t just hire anyone to do work here. Although I did not see enough value in you at first and instead used you as an incentive for someone else… Your focus on completing the tasks assigned to you, whether or not you helped with a little bit of aphrodisiac or not–Frankly, I was quite impressed by that, and I think that there is something that suits you just fine…”

Edrick placed a small vial on his desk and pushed it closer toward Yaling’s direction.

“You see, not every maid has the same job to perform… Jingyi is the headmaid and my personal maid. She is in charge of everyone else. Meanwhile, Muxing is the head of the nursery, et cetera and et cetera… I had thoughts to give you a rather important position, that of Jingyi’s assistant”

Yaling nodded clearly, listening to his every word.

“This means that you would be in charge of her duties were she to be unavailable–But most importantly, because of her role as headmaid, she can not stand as much time by my side as a personal maid should… You will be fulfilling that role, following me around, carrying messages for me, and fetching what I ask for… Those sorts of things” he explained. Although the job description might not sound very appealing, being one that had to stick close to the residence’s highest authority was definitely an attractive position.

You could be certain that if a noble tended to be accompanied by the same servant all the time, that this servant was especially liked by said noble.

“Do you understand?”

“I do, Master!”

“You catch on quick, but before you can get this position, you’ll naturally have to prove yourself to me. To do that, you’ll begin by drinking the contents of this vial in full. Do not fret, this liquid is harmless, and it is essential to you getting the position” he said, pointing to the vial in question.

Yaling wasn’t stupid. She could imagine what the option was if she did not get that position Edrick was offering, so despite feeling wary of the pink substance, she did not hesitate.

The girl rose from the ground, walked up to the desk, and picked the vial up, uncorking and drinking it all down in just a few seconds.

Surprisingly, the taste was pretty good, and it was very easy to drink.

Anoteros seemed very pleased by her lack of hesitation.

Yaling wasn’t able to see much of his reaction, as something suddenly happened to her.

For a few moments, it felt like she was weightless.

She knelt on the ground as a most bizarre sensation spread throughout her entire body. Her vision grew blurry, all of her five senses seemed unresponsive, and for a second, she truly thought that something bad was happening–But it only lasted a few small instants. She was just fine.

“I… I feel odd” she said. Her voice was a higher pitch than normal. It sounded much…Cuter than usual.

“Seems like it was a success. Come over to my side, Yaling, we’ll finish up. Then, you’ll officially be a maid in my residence”

Yaling did as he asked, quickly noticing that the desk seemed much bigger than it had been a few moments ago… 

Of course, the truth of the situation soon revealed itself.
