Chapter 40: Options
Chapter 40: Options
Myles wanted to inquire about the sigils, but the Commander was already talking with the Blood Knight.
The Commander said, “Thank you for guiding us.”
The Blood Knight placed his right palm on his left chest and bowed. “It’s my pleasure to help you, Commander.”
Afterwards, he turned around and left.
Myles thought it was a chance to inquire about the sigils, when the Commander walked in front of the door of the royal carriage and knocked towards it.
The door soon opened and the Guardian of Scarlet Bond appeared first.
She landed on the cold floor with her high-heels and scrutinized her private quarter.
She was deeply satisfied.
She said, “It’s protected with sigils, ensuring privacy. I like it. The designs, too.”
Myles swept his gaze on the Guardian of Scarlet Bond’s private quarters and observed that the designs reflected her race, her preference, and her personality.
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond walked forward and touched the gate. The gate opened by itself, revealing her villa.
As she entered, she glanced at the floating sigils orbiting above the roof while glowing softly.
She mumbled, “Sigils of desire and charm… the Royal Academy sure knows how to treat their instructors.”
Myles listened attentively to what she was mumbling, eager to learn more about sigils.
However, he was interrupted by the Commander, who grabbed his shoulder, causing him to pause.
The Commander whispered in his right ear, “What are you doing?! You’re supposed to welcome the Mistress. Why are you clinging on to the Guardian of Scarlet Bond?”
Myles was surprised.
He hastily explained in a hush voice, “I’m curious about the sigils she’s whispering.”
The Commander knocked his helmet and said, “You’ll learn about that soon. In fact, the armor you’re wearing is already considered a sigil artifact. But, focus on your task first, the Mistress might come out at any minute.”
Myles listened and walked towards the royal carriage, waiting for Nyxara to come out.
As soon as she appeared, he immediately bowed and greeted, “Violet, we have arrived.”
Suddenly, he perceived the unusual movements of Nyxara and instantly tilted his head upward.
He was surprised she was walking sluggishly and her face was flushed.
Myles immediately grabbed her and made her lean towards his chest, asking, “What happened? Are you okay?”
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond’s voice echoed at a distance.
“Carry her. It’s just the result of overexertion on her training.”
Myles was stunned. He instantly realized that Nyxara might have also been training and learning demonic martial arts like him.
Without hesitation, he carried her in a princess position, and the Commander approved of how thoughtful he carried the Mistress.
…
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond instructed Myles to bring Nyxara to her guest room. The interior of her villa wasn’t complicated. There were also guides and room door designs.
When Myles arrived in front of the door of the guest room, he was about to open it when the door opened by itself.
His eyebrows raised.
He was then distracted by the interior of the guest room.
It has a warm crimson glow, soft shadows, and faint aura of charm lingering in the air. The atmosphere was cozy but commanding.
It has a sleeping area, seating area, wardrobe and storage, and a study nook.
There were also tall arched windows draped in deep crimson curtains. The view of crimson gardens and floating sigils outside provided a calm but subtly reminding him of the Guardian of Scarlet Bond’s power.
Myles’ deep impression of the guest room was still the same when he entered the villa.
The villa does feel welcoming but I also feel always being observed.
Myles didn’t let himself get distracted as he entered and placed Nyxara on a large, luxurious bed with crimson velvet canopy and sheets.
He gently laid her head on a soft, enchanted pillow. The pillow immediately glowed a crimson light, seemingly adjusting for Nyxara’s head and neck proportion to provide the best comfort.
Myles took off his armor. But then, he realized there was not much difference.
He thought. I might have gotten used to wearing this armor. Wearing it doesn’t provide discomfort, either.
Myles recalled the words of the Commander earlier.
A sigil artifact, huh? I thought it’s a runic artifact, given that there are many runes inscribed in this armor.
He then remembered the artifact had awakened the Law of Blood.
Is it because of the Law of Blood?
He asked the voice in his head, “Do you know about sigils?”
The voice in his head had perhaps received the intention of Myles to answer his question as it echoed in his head.
[I have also just learned about sigils in the Demon World. To clarify, the runes inside the walls when you were at the torture chamber weren’t actually runes. It was actually a sigil.
However, at the moment, knowledge about sigils is limited.
Nevertheless, it confirmed that common rank skills are useless at this point. And thus, the demonic core has concluded it wanted to consume them and at the same time provides you with different options:
Option 1: Synthesize the Common rank skills to awaken a single Rare rank skill. This requires synthesizing five Common rank skills.
Option 2: Consume the Common rank skills to upgrade a current Rare rank skill you possess. This requires ten common rank skills.
Option 3: Consume the Common rank skills to awaken a Law Affinity related to an innate skill you possessed. The innate skill you possess must not be related to any law affinity you have awakened and innate skill to possess a law affinity is Rare rank and above.
You can only choose one.]
Myles was surprised by the sudden announcement of the voice inside his head. However, it was right, he didn’t even utilize the Common rank skills every time he trained against Blood Knights and dueled against the Commander for two major reasons.
One, he couldn’t afford to let others know he possessed innate skills of a different race.
Two, he simply found it difficult to sneakily use it. He even doubted if it would be useful at all.
Since the voice in his head proposed how to get rid of the trash to benefit him, he wouldn’t waste the chances.
